Bombers are relatively easy to destroy, alternate means of delivery of weapons would be required for an effective deterrent effect. Its damn hard to deliver 22 tons of explosives on target when you only have one shot. War is about making the other guys die for their country. Why waste resources with conventional munitions when you can miniaturize nukes to the point that a triad of delivery devices (sub based, aircraft based, and land based) can be used. Redundancy is the militaries friend.

yay. Now we can get our linux isos without trackers! Everyone knows that legitimate bt needs to be trackerless. Current tracker-based bt doesn't work at all for legitimate file sharing. (The preceding was sarcasm). The only good reason for trackerless torrents is to prevent the **AA from shutting down infringing filesharing. I am a fair-use advocate, but I don't see the legitimate purpose to trackerless torrents that cannot be fulfilled by trackered torrents.

  23. Re:Finally on Airbus A380 Completes Maiden Test Flight · · Score: 1

That was my exact point. Apparently most everyone thinks that 4 engine aircraft are a technological necessity, when they in fact are not. You could fly a 747 on one of the engines from the 777 (take off is another matter). I just feel that super airliners are wasteful, and harm the industry because they force airlines to fly less frequently. This reduces the travel options of people who need to go places in a hurry. Plus my original statement (great-grandparent or something to that extent) about fuel efficiency has nothing to do with passenger capacity. Do you figure in passenger capacity for your automobiles when you calculate your fuel efficiency?

  24. Finally on Airbus A380 Completes Maiden Test Flight · · Score: -1, Flamebait

Im glad that someone has finally come out with an aircraft bulkier and less fuel efficient than the 747 line... Seriously, I don't see the need for 4 engine airliners anymore, especially when there are powerful enough engines to have large jets use 2 engines ala 777.
