  1. An irony? on Google Sends Legal Threats to Media Organizations · · Score: 1

Remember in the dotboom when household word named domains like pets.com sold for 6-figures? People paid the money for having an easy to remember word that they thought would guarantee them massive sales. Fast foward on to now and all the big sites (eg Google) are made-up words that were probably bought a few dollars. Funny how it works out isn't it?

Completely right. It's not even so subtle once you get used to their tricks. Nobody seems to question aspects of the story and are happy to trust the CIA . Basically nothing happened this week apart from a lot of people were very inconvienced and everyone was told something very bad nearly happened but we stopped it because of monitoring. The majority seem to think this is proof or justification of the methods and then carry on slowly accepting the ceaseless curtailment of their (hard fought for) liberties. In a few short years we will be living in a genuine police state and it will all be too late.

Norton was once an essential application. Is it turning into a joke?

    Ans: Yes.

However, Norton seems to be playing catch up with its OSX counterpart. Norton Systemworks (Utilities) became a joke for Mac users years ago now at the start of OSX having been an essential app for OS7/8/9. In fact there is no surer way of guaranteeing an OSX 'nuke&pave' situation than running Nortons and getting it to fix something. It's kind of like a medecine that kills .... (AZT anyone?)

Once this is in place it will be the turn of political websites etc. Eventually all you'll be able to do from a public access terminal is watch Fox and CNN and send fanmail to Bill O'Reilly.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: This time is the golden age of the internet. That period is at its twilight now I would say.
