This does jive with what Steve Jobs said during his keynote with regards to performance per watt. If the specs are truly as the CEO of Intel says they are, then I can finally see why Apple was swayed.
Actually Apple did not annouce the death of the PPC, as a matter of fact, Steve Jobs said Apple would continue to utilize PPC chips in their products. I would imagine that Apple may be looking to add an enterprise solution to their product line using straight POWER chips. We'll see. As for now, Apple will continue to support PPC chips for atleast another three or four years until the transition is truly complete.
That is not exactly true. The inquisition was a wholly Catholic affair that effected peoples of varied faiths, and assigned to them the role of heretic and firewood. That is not to say that the Protestants did not do their own fair share of mass-murder in the name of religious faith, but, try and find a religion that can wash its hands of that sort of claim. I doubt you will find many.
The difference is, I can delete quicktime from my Apple computer without having to worry about my computer crashing as a result the deletion. I can use whatever player I like without my system telling me what it would prefer. That is choice.
The Floyd Rose as an advancement in tremelo technology? Bah, give me a Bigsby anyday. The mere act of changing the strings, and tuning a guitar with a Floyd Rose can take almost as long as it did for Halo to come out for the Mac platform.
"We can't sustain multiple other people's businesses, particularly if they charge for certain versions of their software."
I know it's tough to keep such a model running even with a company who has more cash in tow than the gross nation product of many third world countries.::: sarcasm stops here:::
In all actuality, the true problem is not the home user, (although most are pretty helpless in a situation like this) it is Microsoft's long history of putting out insecure operating systems. People can only exploit holes if they are there, and within the world of Microsoft there are more holes to be found than within a Swiss cheese factory.
Could this lovely bit of increased functionality possibly be leading us to an apple branded PDA/mp3 player? Only time will tell on this one, but I do believe that we are indeed quite a bit closer today than we were when the iPod was first introduced. R.I.P Newton, Long live iPod.
Well, this turns out to be the work of a troll. I've checked both the AP wire as well as King's own homepage and no mention of his untimely demise. What kind of dick posts this kind of thing?
How will this purchase effect the agreement between Apple (the music label) and Apple computers? This would give the property holders of Apple (the label) a mighty nice bit of bait for another round of lawsuits concerning Apple's (the computer company) copyright infringment upon their useage of the name "Apple".
About a foot away from becoming more Red than our lovely communist friends we fought so desperately against for the last fifty some odd years. I think it's far past the time to begin communicating to our legislatures that it is indeed our freedom that makes this country so wonderful, and that when those freedoms are rolled back without regard for those they were set in place for, we become no better than those we seek to hinder through their placement. I deeply hope that intelligence will shine through, and that our "elected officials" (president withstanding) realize the gravity of their decisions.
If we are talking critically, Tommy Boy definitely has to rank up there (I believe it had something akin to 1 and a half stars). If we are talking about a movie that fizzled at the box office, and then became a cult hit I think Rocky Horror Picture Show (love it or hate it) takes the cake. Other movies that might rank up there as well are Stargate, High Fidelity, Better Off Dead, Empire Records, Fierce Creatures... The list might go on ad infinitum.
Not only do I agree with your comment, I also happen to think that they are releasing them to the public so that those people who happen to be within the programming community can check out the programs and help Apple debug them far more quickly then they could on their own. Another factor which comes into play is the concept of bragging rights that come with the release of say a new X11 client, or a brand new web browser.
My brother got his arm stuck in the microwave, and, uh, my grandma she dropped acid and hijacked a school bus full of penguins, so it's kind-a a family emergency. So come back later? Great. - John Cusack, "Better Off Dead"
Well, in regard to the tracking delay, it depends on which guitar manufacturer you go with. Roland ready Fender guitars are, and will probably always remain, garbage in comparison to Brian Moore Guitars (>Brian Moore i2.13 which feature RMC divided pickups. Tracking delay is nonexistent within this series of axes, and not to mention they are far more feature packed. In comparison to the new Gibson maGIC guitar, it's a one trick pony. The Brian Moore through its use of coil-tapping as well as its RMC piezo pickup can sound like any guitar you might want to play. This is without the use of any digital toys mind you. So, much like the horrid products created by Line 6, the all digital maGIC guitar will probably be a horrible let down. There was a reason it has been in development for over five years. -Rant Ended-
"On Friday, February 7, the PBS program NOW with Bill Moyers broke an important story about a document recently leaked to the Center for Public Integrity by an insider at the Justice Department. That document, titled the Domestic Security Enhancement Act of 2003, turns out to be a draft of a new bill, much like the Patriot Act, that would grant the executive branch sweeping and unprecedented powers to spy on Americans with little or no judicial oversight. It would also enable polluting and otherwise irresponsible corporations to hide incriminating documents behind the veil of "national security0/00 simply by handing them over to the Homeland Security Department. Such a bill should obviously not pass without a thorough and informed debate. Please investigate this story immediately and bring it to the attention of the American people so that such a debate can begin before we find ourselves in a war with Iraq or in the midst of some other national crisis. The document can be found on the Web at http://www.publicintegrity.org/."
I believe it is time our government be held accountable for what it is doing during this war on terror. Although action is certainly needed to curtail those who would seek to disrupt the lives of Americans for the sheer sake of it, it is also our responsibility to be aware of what exactly our government is doing in our name. Within that same vein, we must also be diligent in the face of a possible future in which Orwell himself would be damn near frightened by. (Rant Ended)

It runs on everything but the kitchen sink. Although I hear they are working on it.

They cannot even build an OS that doesn't crash. Imagine a blue screen of death driving 65 down the highway, that might be a bit uncomfortable.

I for one welcome our new Nanorobotic overlords. I would like more grey goop in my grey goop please.
You had me at "computational astrophysicist." ;o)

They just want to make sure they can steal every new feature Apple is putting into Mac OS X.3

Unless of course Apple is making a habit of submitting public updates to an as of yet unreleased beta version of their new OS.
our sun goes supernova with Moto's track record. Seriously folks, when was the last time Moto actually followed their roadmap?

Ask yourselves, can the apocalypse be far off?

Just my 2 cents...
So we can expect this game to go gold in 2013?

Now all we need is an X86 version of OS X and we'd be set.
