  1. So you're saying that Russia should have all the emails sent and received by the Secretary of State?

    I'm guessing most of our largest enemies and likely many of our allies...DO HAVE copies of her emails from her "private server".

    I've heard many of the Three Letter Agency types and experts saying that any intelligence agency worth their weight, had gotten into that server and gotten any info they wanted.

    I personally have little to no doubt that Russia and many other foreign governments have Hillary's emails on that server in their files.

    I've heard numerous folks joking and saying "well, hell, if the US govt can't find the missing emails, maybe these Russian chaps can...."

    Black is the new Red, this is political of-course, it doesn't have any other meaning. Colour coding means something because of the colour properties (red is the most visible colour due to its wavelength and our perception of it). I guess what Obama is saying is this: the white people are scared of the blacks so much, they must perceive black as more dangerous than any other colour...

    Maybe Obama is just using this to implicate that whites are "unsubstantiated or inconsequential "...per the description of the rating on the system?

    :P

    Remember, it is perfectly politically correct to disparage white folks, after all they have all that 'privilege' you know....

    I'm browsing through the headlines on a US Centric website, and was somewhat questioning why US Centric units of measurement weren't being used, and saying I was appreciative that someone provide the translation before I had to...

    Not having the metric system here, has never affected my life, nor anyone I know really.

    And for the most part, most Americans have no contact with anyone else in the world, there's really not much need for it as that the US is pretty vast and populated enough, with many diverse regions of temperament, terrain, etc.....

    So, we don't really care about what your 95.6% of the world does or thinks, as that we rarely have to interact with you, and have virtually no reason to do so in every day life.

    You can get off your high horse now....we don't give a shit what you do, so, why do you get so all in a huff about what we do and what units we use?

    It seems YOU have more a problem with this than we do...

    Also Celsius is based on something familiar to everyone. Water boils at 100 freezes at 0, easy.

    Anyone can tell you 7 is cold and 70 is hot. What does Fahrenheit relate to? Who knows?

    I would venture to guess that hardly any American would know how to dress really at 7C or 70C...they are meaningless in every day use here in the US.

    It depends on what you are used to and have grown up with....

    I instantly know what to wear and the comfort zone of a day outside with the high at 76F. AT 76C I'd have no idea what to put on....

    It isn't like when I listen to the weather forecast that I think "Hmm...how close is this to the freezing or boiling point of water?". You just know from years of experience and growing up with every day normal weather and activities.

    And being that Slashdot is a US centric site...most of us here are used to getting our stores with the units of measure we're used to dealing with here, and not having to stop, hit google and find a conversion site....

    I hope you realize that 129.2F means absolutely nothing to the majority of the world. ;)

    I don't really care much about the rest of the world, as far as common every day things like watching the morning news for the weather to see the temperature, etc...and know how to dress, I have little to no contact with folks outside the US.

    And since Slashdot is a US centric site...most things are (and should be) in the units of measurement we are all used to.

    Don't forget that the Clinton's belong to a "whites only" country club for years and that Bill Clinton loves the Confederate flag. He even used it as part of his campaign logo for governor I believe.

    Well, to be fair, it is mostly people up north that get their panties all in a wad over the confederate battle flag.

    Most folks in the south don't think it is the horrible symbol of racial bigotry, etc.....it is just a symbol of the south.

    Hell, I associate it with going to Lynyrd Skynyrd concerts (their backdrop) and on bumper stickers here mostly, not as something against black, but something that is for the south for southern pride.

    It's only been in the past 3 -4 years that it has even been raised as an issue and it is mostly by folks up north it seems. No one here really sees it as a problem or anything as horrible as people here recently have been trying to make it...

    I do sometimes long for the days before political correctness took the fun out of anything, and tries to demonize just about anything it can....

  15. And yet you're surprisingly eager to share this detail of your life with anyone who bothers surfing on Slashdot. This always amuses me about those people proud to not be on a social network often because they don't want to put up with or don't understand why others would share mundane things insist on sharing these details.

    Actually, my primary objection to social media, especially FB, is the abhorrent privacy issues involved with those sites. If nothing else, I'd rather just not feed their data collection engine voluntarily with my private data points.

    I can actually see where it would be fun and useful in some circumstances, ESPECIALLY if you are running a business, but to me the tradeoff is not worth it.

    I'd actually think about joining FB if I could get a business site ONLY...and not have to also have a personal account first....

    Meh. They could sell what, a couple thousand phones to SOC? 10k maybe? That's what, an hour of retail?

    This isn't the 50's.

    If this goes DoD wide as the standard, well, they employ approx 3.1 Million people which I would think would be a significant amount of phones to be sold to the govt. As another person mentioned to you on this thread, that often also includes support ,etc which proves to be even more lucrative.

    If you can get a DoD contract, it can often prove to be VERY valuable. Ask Lockheed Martin, or Oracle or MS, or.....etc.

    I can totally see Apple making a big stink about using Apple products in wartime missions.

    I kinda bet Apple will see $$$$ signs much more than they will see peace signs....

    A DoD contract would mean a LOT of money to Apple, and after all, they are a company who's business is to make money.

    Yeah, that happens. It is about cultural fit. I have friends who I see complain on facebook about being the only black or person of color. About being lonely, etc. because they are not directly fitting in or that the people at work are less chatty.

    Well, at least he doesn't have to be nervous on the elevators, nor worry about getting mugged there....and likely not many folks there playing the knock-out game either to worry about.

    I guess there are trade-offs for everything in life, eh?

    All he had to have was one AR weapon and 4 magazines and you'd be looking at 280 dead instead of 80 dead.

    Hmm...he'd have to have been a REALLY good shot to kill 280 people more with an AR-15 and 4 magazine??

    Let's see, 4 x 30 shots each, is 120 total bullets. So, 120 if each and every one of those was an individual kill shot....so, he's have to kill 4 people with each bullet to get to the 280 mark.

    Now THAT would be quite the marksman...
