In these difficult times of wars and crisis, Obama is one of the best presidents Americans could have hoped for.
Are you serious?
Obama is completely disengaged from the turmoil happening in the world. I don't think it is him being "stand offish", I don't think he actually knows WHAT to do and is paralyzed by that.
No one in the world has respect for the US admin...he doesn't know when to make a stand, nor will he stand on it. And the world knows this and is testing this right now.
You would think that Tesla would build the plant in Detroit, not only is land cheap and most likely loads of incentives but it would be a direct slap in the face to the big three automakers.
The trouble in setting up there would be, what are you going to use for a workforce?
Likely as not, not locals, and how are you going to convince folks to me to Detroit, not much incentive to move to a barren, economically sparse, drug infested/violence infested area. I mean, Tesla can't possibly pay THAT high of wages to give folks incentive to brave it by moving there.
The over regulation and high taxes in CA are the killer for any business possibilities there. Large companies are leaving California due the the bad fiscal management out there and overbearing govt restrictions on businesses out there.
You'd think at some point, sensible folks would see this and do something to curtail the problem, but when you let political philosophy outweigh what common sense should present to the current vision, you get much of what you see in CA, and more recently in the entire Federal admin overall.
Sadly, some seem to hold their philosophical vision over and above solutions that could fix things at ALL costs. Some folks wold rather fail by breaking, rather than to bend and survive.
Said someone about every president since WW2. You guys elected him twice, collectively you fucking love the guy.
Hey, don't blame me, I voted for Kodos!!
:)
But seriously, I used to think Carter was the worst, and I wasn't terribly happy with Bush Jr., but Obama, ugh.
I used to think it was just his agenda, but I'm starting to think it is more fully explained by incompetence. I used to joke and ask my friends that voted for him "How's that Hope and Change" working out for you.
Not anymore, I'm frankly a bit scared about the US and the world. He has no answer and seems to really not even care about:
Problems in Libya, Syria (draws imaginary line in sand when not going to back it up), ISIS coming in from Syria, Our southern US border currently being overrun by illegals, when he actually COULD with a swipe of his pen, fix the problem there, or at least send national guard and militarize the damned thing, economy still in the toilet, etc.
He's a great speaker with a teleprompter and good politician (for getting elected), but I think as far as presidency, he's in way over his head and I'm frankly worried about the state of the world under his last 2x years.
I would have thought that Obama would have told his spooks to lay off for a while. But instead, it seems that he has racketed up the spying on Germany.
Can someone tell me what Obama is trying to achieve by this? I mean, there must be some purpose behind all this. I just can't figure it out.
Have you stopped to think that it might just be that he's a fucking idiot?
I mean, so far, in the polls, he's already being rated as the worst president since WW2. And he had some serious "talent" to beat out in that contest, you know?
This is just flat out wrong. Have you ever actually seen a 1099? If you are paying an individual, the SSN is the tax id, and must be listed on the form. If you are paying a corporation, then you don't use a 1099.
Not so, I contract, I am an individual working for my own S-corp.
I have never given out my SSN when being paid 1099 through my company.
I give out only my TIN, they pay me with checks, and at EOY I get a 1099 from them for my tax purposes.
Unless the doctor is incorporated, the SSN is the tax id.
Err, if the said Dr. is in business and is not incorporated, he's quite a fool.
They didn't. The gave out their SSN because this is directly related to SS transactions. The doctors receive payments from the insurance company, and those payments must be reported to the IRS on a 1099 form, and that must include the tax id, which is the SSN.
Err, no. there is NO place to fill out SS on a 1099 payment. That is precisely where you have and use your TIN (Tax Identification Number), You only give your SS on your Personal tax forms at EOY in that situation.
No, there is no valid reason a Physician should be giving out his personal SS for a business transaction, especially if it is a 1099 and NOT a W2 type form. Taxes are NOT taken out of 1099â¦.you are responsible for that on your own at EOY.
he sooner we move away from the idiotic notion that the same number should be used for both identification and authentication, and thus must be simultaneously both widely known and secret.
I know I'm getting old, but more and moreâ¦I"m going retro, and analog.
I'm still mobile enough to get off my ass, and change the manual thermostat, etc.
WTF would I give out my energy info? I make enough $$ to pay them monthly, etc.
They only have a need to know if I"m having a problem paying, nothing more.
I just don't' get it when folks voluntarily give out SO much info on themselves. I don't see it being long till this really starts biting people in the ass.
This was my first thought, WTF are they using SS on this type of report at all?!!?
I mean, if they need a record of the physician's business, why not use the Federal Tax ID? Why in the world would anyone give out a SS number in this day in age for anything besides something that is directly related to SS transactions (taxes, payments, etc)?
I don't give my SS to anyone except the bank and for SS tax purposes. My last power company tried to insist I give it to them, when I asked WTF they needed this for simply connecting power they said for a 'credit check'. I talked further and found out they'd take a deposit in lieu of this and that's the road I took. I got the deposit refunded about 6mos later I think.
But seriously, there not a THING these days that should or does require a SS# to be given. However, sometimes, sadly, you DO need to be persistent in your insistence that they don't need it. Speak to a mgr or two if need be, but don't' give it out.
Great. And adds to the overreach of private corporations into our lives.
Errâ¦how exactly does it do this?
Unless you somehow believe, that a company you work for owes you something more than the wages you agreed to when you signed up with them and negotiated your salary, no?
My trouble is, I can't fall asleep in a perfectly quiet room, with pitch black.
I do best, falling asleep to the TV being on. I used to have a regular tv that had a timer, which would turn itself off and cut the ambient light.
Now, I have a 27" computer monitor which is my "TV", and it doesn't have a built in timerâ¦so, it stays on all night, even when the DVR cuts off on Uverse, it has a blue screensaver light which I think affects me.
I guess I need to find a wall timer and hook it to the monitor and try that.
But I just don't do well in 100% quiet environments, even in school, if the room was quiet and no tv or stereo, I would start fidgeting, and goofing off, but with tv or stereo on in background I'd study for hours and all of a sudden, notice that hours had passed and I didn't realize what had played or what tv shows had been on.
Yes, because a lack of sleep is the #1 reason why people don't exercise and eat right.
Well, it can affect things.
For one, about the only time good for me to hit the gym and exercise is EARLY in the morning. If I don't sleep well that night, I can't get up and work out and then to work on only 4 hours sleep. If I sleep 4 hours, and wake up, toss and turn till 6amâ¦I don't feel like hitting the gym and will try to crash till 7:30 or so to get a bit more sleep before having to get up and run to work. If I get a full 7 hours of sleep in a row, I wake up early, refreshed and ready to hit the gym and then start my work day from there.
That's just scheduling, but the body has been show more and more to react very badly if not properly rested each night with sleep.
Please, no unions. What we need is for congress to manage, and regulate PROPERLY, immigration into the US. Enforce out borders, and effectively regulate who comes and goes.
What did Chelsea mean by "not look like Mark Zuckerberg"?
Was this a racist statement because he is white, he shouldn't be looked at as a 'face' of computer science success?
Of course my statement here is a bit tongue in cheek, but if this had been said about a dark skinned person, I'd lay money on it, that THAT would be called out as a racist statement.
Sheesh.
Are you serious?

But none of those DACs, nor the SoundBlaster seem to have an offering with good old fashioned Vacuum Tubes?!!?
Stereos that glow are cool, and sound OH so good, especially through a pair of Klipschorns.
Have you stopped to think that it might just be that he's a fucking idiot?

Is this soccer thing still going on? Once the US was out of it, I lost interest and figured this would have been done and over with by now.
Its like what, 4 years or something before soccer starts up again when this one is done?
Well, rates never went down, and I don't believe there was any significant change in motorcycle accident rates or survival.
Not so, I contract, I am an individual working for my own S-corp.
I have never given out my SSN when being paid 1099 through my company.

ON this I heartily agree.
I'm still mobile enough to get off my ass, and change the manual thermostat, etc.

I have Cox and have never known of any data cap for my internet.
Yep, with some thingsâ¦dead trees work best.
Errâ¦how exactly does it do this?
Unless you somehow believe, that a company you work for owes you something more than the wages you agreed to when you signed up with them and negotiated your salary, no?
Frankly, I"m for anything these days, that puts a check on the overreach of the federal govt into any of our lives, or our businesses.
Hell, I just want one for a nice High Resolution computer monitor!!!
Why can't the UK just download those plans and do it right?
I do best, falling asleep to the TV being on. I used to have a regular tv that had a timer, which would turn itself off and cut the ambient light.
