Any OS Developers/Followers that support the homeopathic use of good Beer/Ale are OK in my book. I don't see Redmond throwing very many Beer Bashes. I mean, which event would you rather attend? An event where the Beer flows like wine (huh?) and the atmosphere is in a fun loving pub or Brau Haus or an event at a far away Hotel/Convention Center with an overweight, scary and sweaty Steve Balmer marching around screaming incomprehensible buzz words about.NET.
Seems like an easy choice.
The thought of a drunken TUX the Penguin wandering around in hiking boots with a Beer Stein clutched in his flipper pinching all the women is scary though! Oh well after enough Beer anyone can see that happening.
I think anyone who has worked in the NASA environment (myself included) will agree with me that probably 95% of all employees and contractors at that agency love Sci Fi Novels and Movies. The study points out that NASA doesn't necessarily rule out far fetched ideas (Planet Colonization, Space Stations or Nuclear Interplanetary Vehicles) if they can forseeably become a reality when the technology and budget allows it. I think the US Space and Science Programs regardless of the criticism by the press and public is still one of the few places today where Science Fiction can become reality only if far reaching creativity and goal setting is allowed to flourish. There will be some mistakes along the way and all those participating in the various projects and missions realize that risk and accept those odds. To Err is Human.
As a former employee of Lockheed Martin. I can tell you that this has been in the works for a while. A few years back they where working on a smaller version of the X-35 Shuttle to use as an escape vehicle for the Astronauts onboard the ISS. Seems that since the X-35 was written off for now due to the cost. A much smaller space plane would fit right into the project plans. This would save them money and accomplish the goal of transporting the Astronauts to and from the ISS after it's construction is complete. Seems like they could still use some of the proposed X-35 technology (Ramjets and such) on this smaller vehicle. Might as well use this project as a stepping stone to replace the aging Space Shuttle.
Hey look at that. What is it? I don't know but it looks like a giant....
Johnson, what's that on the Radar? I dont' know but it looks like a giant...
One Eyed Monster! Come see the One Eyed Monster... and so on.
LOL!
Damn I have been married for over 12 years and have a child. I must be a dumb SOB by now.
I don't think it necessarily stops all Genius though. Marriage and parenting definitely competes for it though.
That's OK because I don't want to have that wild Einstein like hair anyway.
They named one after Kennedy to. Kennedy was a well known philanderer and with his initial actions in the early 1960's led us deeper into the Vietnam war. He is however a popular former President for reason unknown to me. But, he was a WWII Decorated US Naval veteran and the former Commander and Chief of our US Armed Forces. In my eyes he deserved to have the ship named after him. All is fair in Love and War. The point of them matter is they name US Navy Aircraft Carriers after former US Presidents. Nixon and Carter's names will soon be drawn from the same hat. Whether you like it or not.
As a side note President Carter is a former US Naval Military Captain of a Nuclear Submarine.
I agree with you. I would pitch in for a one way ticket for him to leave the greatest country on the face of the Earth.
France is nice this time of year. He could even catch the Tour De France race where US bike rider Lance Armstrong is kicking everyones (including the French) ass again this year.
Why not name this carrier after two-time elected President Ronald Reagan?
They have named many Carriers in the past after former US Presidents such as JFK, Roosevelt and so on.
I even assume one day they will name some after Carter and Clinton even though they did their best to neuter our military power forever.
At least Reagan saw fit for us to have a strong military/technology research throughout the 80's when we needed it the most during the Soviets greatest military build-up. Whether you agree with his political policy or not, you have to agree he was an influential President that accomplished many things in his two terms as President of the United States.
Great now I can get commercials for movies on my cell phone. Isn't TV commercials and previews of other movies taking up 10 minutes of you time when you pay to see another movie enough.
The day I can point and Click my cell phone at a Ferrari, BMW, Corvette or any Hot Blonde Woman and receive an instant test drive then I will be impressed.
For know I guess I'll use it for it's intended purpose as a phone.
Scary to think someone would have that many things in coincidence with the complaint. I say a mild shock is OK that will keep you alert for all those BSOD that are sure to occur running Windows XP.
Never trust a computer profesional that doesnt list computer as a hobby?
-Nonsense!
I make it a point not to list hobbies on my resume or CV. It is not and should not be a relevant enough factor in whether or not I get a paid position. My professional background should speak for itself without the added or needed enhancement of hobbies.
It's not that hobbies don't lead to professional careers but I consider a hobby topic to be personal and not professional information. To have hobbies that differ from your profession is not a bad thing in my opinion. Most programmers (myself included) should have some human interaction listed for a hobby.
If I where asked informally off the record by an interviewer. I would probably answer the hobby question with cars, aviation/space, electronics, puzzles, computers, golf and music (not necessarily in that order).
Does this make me a bad programmer?

All those spammers in one place. Now is a good time to test the new MOAB bomb again.
Clearasil should lift that spot right out. Seriously those are some fasinating.
