It's a great video about the technology. They talk about the advtantages and interview Cisco employees and the hotel employees. Check it out.

  3. Not the First to take this stance on University Bans Wireless Access Points · · Score: 1

  4. Tech is an Issue on The Changing Face Of Campus Tech · · Score: 1

I am taking bus. admin. at Acadia in NS, Canada. Even though I am not taking computer science courses it is good to see that a university realizes that technology is the way of the future. By getting students used to using a laptop (which is inlcuded in the tuition) graduates are better able to function in the real world, where almost every job requires you to use a computer.

Unis do not just teach the courses. They teach you how to function once you graduate. This is why laptops, and a strong tech programme is needed.

Duke offering iPods seems more of a freebie to me, and I do not believe that a Uni should be using perks such as that to lure students.

In the workspace, lighting is often overlooked. Comfortable ambient lighting is one of the best ways to go, and have been impressed with Steelcase's.

There are also some chairs that provide back support there too. Spending money on these items does increase productivity, and if i remember correctly, there are some good case studies at steelcase.com as well.

    Good Luck.

    Yet another deceiving slashdot headline.

ok, fine, make a headline that catches my attention, i even had NO problem with it being "apple patented by microsoft", but the fact is that it is in the "Apple" section, which is just... plain... deceptive.

This has nothing to do with the apple section, but an apple trre, unrelated to technology, and is not even "news for nerds"... I dont want to hear about an apple tree, and we all know that microsoft patents everything, we going to put all of those as headlines too?

At best, this is Microsoft news, not Apple.

  7. What's the big deal? on Gmail Commentary and Responses · · Score: 1

I do not understand why there is all of this fuss about google's gmail. Firstly, it is a service that YOU sifn up for. You chose whether you want them to target ads to you. They are using technology to target advertising. This is not an invasion of privacy. Would you suggest that it is an invasion of privacy for a phone carrier to log which calls you made? Of course not, they need to do that so that they can properly charge you for the services you have requested. Google wants to do the same thing, scan your emails which allows for advertising that enables them to offer you the service that you have requested. The problem here is that poeple have the perception that nobody looks at your emails. Google has technology to do this, and it is a shock to people that they are 'opened' because they see them. If people only realized that every server has this capability they would not be so worried about Google abusing it, because if they do they are just as liable as the other guy,

  11. Anti-Piracy Software in Photoshop is pointless on Photoshop Fails At Counterfeit Prevention · · Score: 1

Anti-Piracy Software in Photoshop is pointless for several reasons. The first one being: many users, including myself, use photoshop and make no money from what we do. We are hobyists. People like me are not going to pay for a professional tool simply to satisfy a hobby. People who make money from photoshop are going to pay for it. I know many people who, as soon as their company takes off, DO go out and buy legit copies of photoshop, 3DSMax, and other professional apps. So all in all, I think that the money Adobe looses is not actually losty at all, because I do not think that these illegal copies would be purchased, because I think it is mainly hobyists who use them.

The tides have just shifted. Because we need to type more doesn't make NOT handriting all of a sudden bad. So since we do not have to write as much, what is the big deal? Instead of handwriting we are moving to typing, why is this a bad thing? As long as U d0n7 $7@r7 chatting like this I don't see what the problem is. And the truth is that the people with better handwriting will always be better off, just like people who can type better are better off now. (When it comes to jobs, etc). Look at the english language, it has changed, the way we express it was bound to change.
