First let's elect a fucking idiot for a president. After that, we'll ban cloning and other important research, which will force most of the scientific community to move to other countires. After that, we'll setup some nice laws that will punish anyone that shows any kind of intelligence, especially people who are good with those computer things. After that, we'll take any student who shows any kind of intelligence and.. well.. let's just fucking kill them. After that, we'll have a country full of fucking idiots.
New Sony CD's will actually explode when the user tries to rip them. The new CD's have a microchip build in to detect rip-like laser movements. When the user tries to rip the CD to make a legal back-up or MP3 copies, the microchip create a small explosion, which will ignite the CD in hopes of destroying the CD burner. Sony representatives say, "Those fucking pirates are getting off easy. If we could track them better, we'd fucking kill those motherfuckers!"
A friend of mine would ask his candidates how many 3 or fewer letter unix commands they could name in 10 seconds. If they started out with, "uh.. DIR", they would get the boot.
Admins report that yet another technology site has been taken out by the Slashdot DDoS attack. Authorities are still baffeled as to why a site promoting News for Nerds. Stuff that matters. would want to take down normally low traffic sites. Attacks seem to be focused on: open source projects, home hardware hacking, video game sites (especially ATARI), etc.
Mr. Taco, if you read this, please cache these people's sites, before you cost them hundreds or thousands of dollars.
I watched the first episode of the Dune miniseries on SciFi, though it is visually stunning, I was not impressed. I enjoyed the Dune book as well as the movie and the uncut movie. I didn't prefer the episode I saw, it seemed to go into things that the cut movie missed, but skipped over some valuable plot devices left by Herbert. I think I'll pass on future SciFi/Dune productions:(
What kind of fucking moron would actually believe that schools pirating windows software is like an epidemic that is wiping out an entire population of people? This is probably the stupidest comparison I've ever heard! From what I hear Microsoft donates thousands of copies of its software to schools anyway, maybe if the schools in question didn't start out by using illegal copies, they could have avoided all this problem. Or, perhaps they could have used one of those free operating systems AND software that are talked about so much. But, comparing AIDS to software piracy is just fucking idiotic!!
I've had experiences with COX and ComCast @home services. Though many people I've read about online bitch constantly about @home, I have really good service with them. Getting the shit installed was a bit of work though, it took about 3 weeks to get the issues banged out. With COX I got about 100kbytes/sec at max, with ComCast I max out at over 300kbytes. I'm quite impressed:)
i wonder if they could could create clothes that have bacteria that eat poo, this would be great for those poor people that can't control their bowels or just like poo.
This just in, "Slasdot kills yet one more great site". Yes, today marks another sad event as the Slashdot DDOS takes down yet another site. The site owner was unable to comment, but we're sure he is quite saddened by his loss. The Slashdot DDOS seems to focus on grass-roots software, hardware, and artistic sites. Though others have been known to fall. One can only wonder WHEN THE FUCK WILL THEY GET SUED?
Okay, there are lawsuits left and right over trademark names. Why can't you create your own name? I know you really want your software to be just like the really expensive professional product, but why the hell do you need to add k-this and gnu-that to everything? I understand that most open source programs do not have much resources: money, staff, time, etc. Why do you want to risk going to court over using someone else's name?
Next on the table: KDreamWeaver, KNotes, GNUAcrobat, Open-SoundForge, GNUFlash, Open Access 2000, GNU CheckPoint Firewall
Do you see something wrong with this picture? If I ran one of these companies I'd feel the same way!
Actually, most of the recruiters that I deal with want resumes that long. It is considered a project based resume, the more information the better. As a contractor, I work on a shit-load of projects, most short-term.
The authorities are still baffled as the SlashDot DDOS claims yet another site. Why must SlashDot continually attempt to hinder these small sites, possibly causing the owners to have to take them down, because the can't afford to pay for the bandwidth?
I think the general consensus amoung technical people that Microsoft is evil and that Bill Gates is Satan. Microsoft continually slams the GPL and Open Source, does this effect anyone's opinion of it, or does it make GPL programmers fight harder? A rehtorical question of course:)
Does anyone in the entire country actually trust Microsoft?
I am a contractor for a Fortune 500 company in the DC Metro area. I contract for a company called Sapphire, who offers.. well.. shitty web-based training. After fighting for better training for about a month, I realized the company doesn't give a fuck about the people it employs, it is just conserned about how much profit it makes.
Newsbreak: AOL is now suing all world militaries that use the phrase, "Ready, AIM, Fire!", because it is strikingly similar to their AIM chat program. AOL also states that firing squads confuse their targets, the targets think they are going to be chatting with some online friends, then are riddled with bullets.
hey, that's a picture of me, how'd they get me up there?
I thinks people would try to beat me up if i wore that. I wonder if I could get one with a gun holster on the other side...
Well, I refuse to pay for Windows, so I guess that means that officially I don't use it, but I seem to use it anyway.
As per Linux, I think I have paid 20 bucks in the last 2 years for distros.

I'll trump that one...
:)
I used to work for an ISP in Virginia, called Erols Internet.
We had to answer the phone with:
"Erols technical support, may I have your userid?"
Half the People who called answered with:
"Is that my password?"
Soon after I started working there, I changed my username to IsThatMyPassword, basically as a geeky joke.
It has been about 3 years since I quit, I called up support, because I didn't pay my bill.
A nice man answered and asked me for my userid, and I said, "IsThatMyPassword".
After I explained it to him, he laughed for a few minutes and said that I had been his best caller ever
