I'm not a big gamer, (could be a lack of hand eye co-ordination). However, I have played videogames. I have been known to laugh when 'people' get killed in videogames.
I have been known to watch the odd violent movie, and I've listened to 'scary music'. Have I been desensitized? I don't know, have you watched the news lately? You'd have to be at least a little desensitized in order to leave your house each day with all the bad things that could happen to you; according to the news there's never any nice people anymore.
So, desensitization through games, movies, music and tv leads people to senselessly kill other human beings... Well, I don't have access to a gun, but if I did does that mean I would kill people? If I had access to a loaded gun, I would not be able to so much as aim it at a person... Even if the gun were not loaded, I still could not aim it. I'd even have a hard time holding it.
It's the nature of the beast, not exposure. If a person with strong homicidal tendancies had hold of a gun, he or she would probably kill with it... Give that person a butterknife, and they might try with that too.
The only way we can all be safe is to lock each and every one of us in a paded room with nothing and no one who could potentially harm us. But that's no way to live now is it?
who ever heard of a flying armadillo?
That's just it, nobody'd heard of a flying armadillo YET. But when we do, it will be them, and they'll live in infamy... Or not.
It disturbes me greatly to think that there could have been ways to save the seven astronauts aboard that ship, but nothing was done.
Just because there have only been two fatal accidents in the history of the US space program, does that mean that monitoring of the missions is allowed to be so laxed that something like this could happen?
With key you would also have to consider it in a musical sense.
For example the key of 'C', or key changes throughout a piece of music. Key would need to fit into three groups.
A worthwhile database that takes into account all of the variables and can spit out a legible translation is going to take a lot of time and energy and storage space.
I have gotten messages sent to me in other languages, and using every wonderful translator that I could find, I still have had no idea what the messages are actually about. If the translating method Microsoft is planning is like all the others I have found then there's really no need to fret in my opinion, because they will not make the messagung any clearer. But if it is more advanced then that's a totally different situation...
Personally, I don't like how small this thing is. I prefer room inside for my hands, that makes it easier to tinker with and fix if one of the components break.
Also, I'm going to assume that because of the size, some replacement pieces are going to be hard to find, and more expensive than they really ought to be.
I have dyslexia... Not the same I know, but maybe some of my coping skills can help you as well.
I set smaller goals for myself. I break projects into smaller pieces for me it's a paragraph instead of a page, or things like that. You might try fifteen minutes instead of an hour. When I am done, I reward myself, usually by playing a game or something. I also take a long time with my spelling and go over each word four or five times to make sure that it is right- but i cannot think of a parallel for that that you might use
One thing it took me a while to learn is that you can learn to be successful in spite of your set backs. I'm learning linux and am in the midst of writing a novel:-)
I hope that this helps, if in no other way than as a sign of support.
This is just another reason why I will not be running to the local music store any time soon. If they actually want to make money and support their 'artists' they need to realize that this is not the way to do it. The 'artists' only see a very small piece of the profit if they see any at all.
Self distructing CDs are not what I or most of the people I know want to spend our hard earned money on, give me something lasting. That's why I want to go to indie shows and buy albums from the bands themselves.
The entertainment world is changing, and, in my opinion, it should become more about the art produced than the money made.
I would just like to know why 588 computers? Why not an even 600, or did the person who ordered them read the memo wrong, it was supposed to be 500 but with those slashes through the zeros and all...

I'll step off my soap-box now.

Maybe I'm missing the point...
