This is the real reason Apple is so locked down. To keep the money funnel going. You can't fault a company for doing this but it is seriously anti competitive in nature. It's the only reason I stick with Android too since you can still side load (for how much longer don't know).
This is what modular phones should've been about. I love reusing stuff and only buying parts you can afford, along with the ease of upgrading. The base smartphone should have a stable updated secure platform that can go through generations of patches kind of like iPhones/iOS but unlike other flagships today which can barely get 2 new OS releases. I could see this going through every industry.. having a base modular slate/pad/phone call it whatever you want in automobiles, appliances like tvs, stereos, fridges.. it'd save so much waste.
SEC can go screw itself. It wants to be in charge but needs to stay with securities instead of trying to label software technology securities and rule it. It has its own domain.. just because it wants its cut doesn't mean we should hand it over.
But that is guaranteed to come. The internet needs to remain open at all costs. The entire reason it has prospered so well is because of the freedom it had when started. Now you can barely fart wrong on the net and you get taken down across 30 participating countries. CLOUD act basically means you have no rights anymore. EU sues damn near every large company on the Internet. etc
Or is everyone on this discussion some kind of EU proponent wanting less freedoms and more laws for Internet? It's almost like robot shills. This is giving governments more control over business. This is not a good thing. I'd support a checkmark system like SSL in a browser that let people know if using a service could lead to leak of your information but not this. This just supports Google and Large Co to continue business as usual while killing smaller free service providers aka competition. People are celebrating less freedom on the net every time EU scratches a frigging freedom itch and it's disgusting.
Screw your company benefits. They are what corporations use to keep pay down and explain "ohh but your benefits." You know what is a better benefit than 401k or cheaper dental? Being able to ACTUALLY FUCKING WORK. And only work when you work. And keeping costs down. There is room for both kinds of enterprises, just ask Fedex and UPS. Go screw yourselves with trying to regulate people out of work. I personally still want to be able to use Uber and pay lower rates while providing a method for random people to pay their car bill and keep lights on.
Uber isn't even close to slavery. Corporate life is closer to slavery. Requiring 8-5, micro managing every move someone makes, hanging cheese in front of peoples faces so they jump higher for the right to be promoted.. that to me is worse. But then we all have an opinion and your opinion seems to want to take rights away from these people earning an honest living and providing an awesome lower cost more approachable service than taxis/buses ever could.
"It is not that complicated" next sentence.. "Took me years of devouring every source on the matter I could find". In other words: programming properly is complicated. Don't underestimate the amount of practice, precision, and expertise that goes into doing it just because you accomplished it after years of studying what others spent years of studying what others spent years of studying... etc. It takes constant work to even handle the updates all of your depends do these days.
Both host content not the act. Censoring backpage took down legitimate content with the bad content. Same thing China did. You can argue till you are blue that there was illegal content on backpage but I am sure there was illegal content on the social apps also. Demolishing freedom to eliminate some illegal activities might be a no brainer to you but to me and others the illegal activity was just a tiny red herring. It was to send a message.
This makes no sense. Blockchain ecosystem solves a lot of problems and it introduces opensource to damn near every process and can replace companies, governments, central banks/authorities, entire financial markets. It is a huge deal bigger than you point out. You can exchange offline using paper wallets that provide a private key that is scratched off by the receiver (or even simply just transferring any usb ledger). There are entire one off private key devices that the original vendor nor the distributor have until they break a part of the device to release it. It's called opendime (opendime.com).
Damn near 90% of/. people don't know what the fuck they are so upset with blockchain over. The rest are like uhh my video cards !@#!#!. Like your fucking gaming is more important than getting money distributed open and freely using opensource to anyone in the world with peer to peer access to one another. If you join us in crypto you can help make this world more free and help liberate people from tyrannical governments. If playing a fucking video game is more important to you then whatever. It's the same crowd probably against getting the world connected. Ohh but they need food first!?!? No they need education and organization and unity and money. Computers can bring that now thanks to open blockchain technology.
His argument still stands that those who create and build something have everything going against their works in that a single flaw in their complex systems can bring the whole thing down. Kind of like creativity in general. Those who create are constantly ridiculed for not doing it well enough or thought out enough even by those who never create or do anything. Something made even worse by our consumer first society.
On free speech in modern world so far. Obviously these providers are being told/threatened to do this. As others have said there are very little ads for crypto that most have seen or even bothered to click on. This is all about competition and seeing blockchain as a big threat to ad revenue, search engines, and communication / chat channels like twitter and facebook.
"Agora's results for the two districts they tallied differed considerably from the official results, according to an analysis of the two sets of statistics carried out by RFI," These elections all over the world are not verifiable other than by the group responsible for tallying them. Obviously blockchain results can be faked in the counting process as well but if you used an opensource verified app (signed and distributed from 3rd party) you could deliver a reliable election result.
Knowing our government they probably wouldn't complain. Nobody gives a shit anymore since they all take care of #1 - themselves. Everyone who wrote this bill and bills like it should be put in jail without question.
That's what I was thinking. Not delivering content without high prices, ads that you can't fast forward even if you purchased the damn media and "license to use it." Constant forever extensions of copyright law..
Slack is progressively getting to be a company that is just going down the corporate toilet. Discord is eating its lunch but I don't think Slack even knows what its lunch is anymore. It doesn't give a crap about 99% of the market.. it keeps getting smaller and smaller and yet more and more resource intensive. No developments have helped it and it is hell bent on alienating its own usage by not changing archaic price models or anything. Total crap.
I think its just a small but vocal part of/. - basically ones that want to buy video cards cheaper but don't care about all of the good it can be doing by open sourcing money flows, entire business structures, micro lending, poor building enough wealth using low power solar devices on their own to stake. Getting around free speech barriers, even getting put up in space and allowing open projects to operate. Nope, they say "I want to game! ALL CRYPTO MUST FAIL"
A lot of coins are proof of stake (PoS) so you can still safely buy in at the top (FOMO buying) and make daily interest on your investment. Your total might be lower but you'll still be earning a living wage or greater than a normal job if you bought enough.
You do know there are tons and tons of coins that aren't PoW right? Most of my holdings are PoS and require zero mining. And do you think fiat requires zero electricity? All those banks that were constructed and running security, computers, coffee makers, fridges, safes.. all of the stock exchange equipment, all the jet travels bank execs use. All the cars people who are employed at these places drive to work every single day. I bet you mining pales in comparison of the carbon impact especially considering more and more is using 100% renewable energy sources and consolidating in countries like Canada instead of China. Your one excuse for a few coins that are PoW pales in comparison to the entire market of crypto and what it is starting to accomplish. Again, open your eyes.
Sum up all these comments and you can see how much passion there is here AGAINST cryptocurrency. I think everyone here need to learn from these girls. Turn your frigging selves around and gain insight into this community. It's growing stronger, bigger, and it's frigging happy too. It's also technical. Get out of your mothers basements (or dont, good place to do some mining) and look out there. It's social, it's fun, it's very technical. Does it scare you that it's grown so fast? Does it scare you that computers have grown 10000% faster/bigger storage in a decade? What will it take to stop the negativity? Just because money is involved doesn't make it bad. Just because speculation is involved doesn't make it bad. What is causing so much hostility here?
Go to one meetup and you'll see its actually a good movement with a lot of good people in it with good intentions.

Sadly, even if the above isn't true it will probably be true within 5-10 years.
I don't live there. *tries to load backpage.com* oops nevermind.
This is a bot that keeps posting this.

This is what blockchain can and does provide. The future of the open web will be on crypto.
