But do we really want a cure for cancer, HIV and the common-cold? I have a few friends, but in general I HATE people. 99% of them are mindless idiot drones that are just independent enough to be selfish. One one side I certainly don't approve of biological / chemical warfare, on the other I don't know that it'd be smart to cure the diseases that just barely keep this planet from overcrowding.. Anyone?
The target has to be standing on one foot, and it needs to be the third wednesday of the month in February.
Really, cmon now.. this gets news? OK, Bravo.. a linux worm.. take away the fact that it's really a web vulnerability that seems to take advantage of a "shell" it could be a solaris/irix/aix/openserver/bsd worm as well..
But for the smear campaign, lets just call it the linux worm to stirr up the zealots.
I mean, after all.. what does google do? Index information. Revenue is based off how they use that information, personal and public. Will this law(s) convienently be aimed towards creating requirements on how to protect such information that it will make it costly ($$ and time) enough to hurt google's business?
As much as people already abuse energy drinks, mixing a caffeinated beverage with an alcoholic beverage is insane. Now with people that will migrate their addiction to a new level, I see a pandemic of people becoming dangerously dehydrated.
If you lease a property or own a home, no HOA or Management can restrict you from having a dish installed in a private living area.
"Effective January 22, 1999, the Commission amended the rule so that it also applies to rental property where the renter has an exclusive use area, such as a balcony or patio."
Read it yourself.

It's federal mandate, if someone is telling you its against the rules or local laws to mount one, they're violating federal law.
I work for Cisco Learning Institute (the company that handles the Cisco Networking Academy online stuff) and they have a pretty decent suite of software. They're just not very well known. If you're looking to move away from blackboard / webct because of this or for whatever reason, checkout www.ciscolearning.org
This is not an attempt at a flame but true ignorance.
Can someone help me understand how analyzing whats under the surface of the comet can help us in any practical way?
What practical applications could there possibly be for this information and is it worth the 400 - 600 million dollars spent on the mission?
It's missions like these that I really think the space program should be privatized. There's not much that I see come out of Nasa the leads me to say "Wow, thats useful and will benefit us humans down on earth for years to come".
Most I think I've seen thats useful to the extent of hundreds of millions of dollars is the microwave.
I hear many people complain about OpenOffice.org not opening their MS documents with correct formatting, but these people don't realize that this is not a limitation of OpenOffice, but a result of Microsofts closed and proprietary document formats.
When I've used OpenOffice.org's document format, I've been very pleased. Especially since sxw is just a zip package that you can open up and edit by hand.. this make automating document processing really easy..
I'll be perfectly fine if MS Office disappears and never returns.
I wouldn't make companies pay $$. At the VERY MOST.. if someone contributes via services.. make them release their changes back to the project.. don't be a dumbfuck and try to charge them..
It's not about the money.. Its about the freedom. If you do something like this.. companies will be turned off and turn away from GPL'd projects..
Remember.. HALF THE PEOPLE WHO WORK ON GPL'D PROJECTS ARE ALLOWED TIME TO DO SO BY THEIR EMPLOYERS.. technically.. any work done on employers time belongs to the employer.. so it is these businesses that pay and sponser the development of such products..
I can't remember.. but I thought a while ago for something to be copyright it had to be thirteen words or longer. Not sure how that would work for single urls..
But this isn't a case of copyright infringement but trademark infringement.. I did this back asswards because I'm posting first and reading TFA later..
How much time ($$) is spent dealing with viruses and renewing ($$) your subscription to Norton, McAffee / whoever.
How much time is spent dealing with the difference between office 2000 & office 2003..(vs something like OO.org) and the bugs that follow unicode translations because of the closed document formats?
How much ($$) is spent in network engineers locking down every conceivable incoming port on the firewalls, setting up IDS with rules for 1001 worms that they wouldn't have to for *nix based systems. NOT including when a worm actually manages to get through and infect a box. or 20.
How much ($$) is lost anually in bandwidth from generated spam from windows zombied boxes?! NOT including time setup for filters, managing complaints from people replying to you because of forged domains, etc etc etc.
There's always going to be a learning curve and a cost associated with training whether you're going from MS to Linux or MS to MS. However, there's not necessarily always going to be a re-occuring licensing merry-go-round.
IMHO MS Windows is the worst thing to EVER happen to a networked computing environment and Corporate collabaration.

Sounds like the HIPPA expanded.

*still think its a bad idea though* =P

if their aim is anything like their ability to develop a solid product or secure an os.

I'm pretty sure Ricoh had this a few years ago.. like in 2001. I think its the RDC-i700.
Research shows that most serial killers, terrorists and used car salesmen read the New York Times.
I hate going to the movies for the following reasons:
1.) Cramped legs unless I'm an asshole and put my feet up on the back of the chair in front of me.
2.) I hate other people. They're constantly talking, crumbling paper, taking phone calls, kicking the seat or having sex.
3.) can't use the bathroom and not miss a scene.
4.) Parking.. I fucking hate parking lots.
5.) seat saving. Trying to find a seat in a movie I paid for that doesn't have a whole fucking row reserved to some sorority's get together.
6.) line for the restroom after movie.
7.) overpriced low quality snacks.
All in all home theater beats the shit out of Movie theaters.

Does anyone know how MS's "original" and patented format is any different than the OASIS open document format that has been out for a while now?
What does everyone think of the ability to call prior-art if MS litigates a project like OOo for making full compatibility to MS XML doc format?
Grave robberies are up 20% and dazed and confused senior citizens are missing from the home..
Btw.. technically.. your whole frickin' DNA is "just a barcode" too..

I would've RSVP'd but it was too late, for I was already in the future.
When they contribute back to GPL'd projects?
This seems like a *SERIOUS* blunder..
