That's the same kind of logic that leads people to become anti-vaccine nutters. This idea/substance in large amounts has been proven to be bad, therefore, its bad at smaller concentrations and should be avoided at all costs.
Logic would dictate that further proof would be required. Sometimes things a small does are really good, but really bad at large doses. Ideas are the same way.
According to the linked story, Germany did not invoke the Geneva convention, the US preemptively decided to remove the prisoners because they thought it might be a violation to subject them to the conditions. It would have been rather odd for Nazi Germany to complain about treatment of people in camps, from what I understand about history ( primarily through a tv channel with history in the name of it ).
That's not conclusive evidence. The same population was not monitored before and after the law went into effect, only after.
44 of the 51,078 committed a crime with a gun. Its unknown how many of them would have still committed the crime without having a concealed weapon at their side. It might have been 44 or it might have been zero. Having a gun might have increased gun violence amongst this population by 400 % or reduced it to 2%. Its simply unknown from those statistics.
Oh yeah, I prefered to use windows NT 3.51, but lets not kid ourselves, the requirements were much higher. Win NT 3.51 needed close to 64 mb of ram to work anywhere close to well. Windows 95 was ok at 32 mb ( still crashed like nobody's buisness).
Yes, they can be. Like how they won't give you the pain medicine that the medical record indicates will kill you. Damn judgmental doctors!
Speaking as one who has multiple family members in the ER. They don't f'n care if your're a prostitute on heroin who just shot a 3 year old, or a professional athlete with an artificial substance in your body cavity. They just want to fix you up and pass you on to the next stage. They see everything, it makes them understand crazy situations that we all find ourselves in.
As you're known as the father of Java, has that been problematic when trying to figure out your career path? Did you feel as if you have to always use Java or be the main proponent behind its architecture? Or simply having that on your resume, restricted you to a certain level of project either within Sun or when exploring new opportunities such as your current job with Liquid Robotics?
Yeah, uhm... With more money come more guns, and not just guns but private armies to kill you after they take your money. In this world, whoever has the most money is right, and whoever disagrees is dead.
No Mitt is self deluded into thinking that what he has done has been moral. Its the rich christian syndrome. I'm successful, and I'm christian, therefore God wanted me to be successful and therefore everything I've done has been good.
Ok, you completely misunderstood my post. Lets try over the top sarcasm to drive the point home.
What are you doing *right now*? Are you working on ending malaria? If not you are doing it at the expense of millions of people dying right now!!!! What is you job? If its not researching malaria drugs, then quit it NOWWW! Go back to school, mortgage your house for tuition, live in a cardboard box, to study. No TV, No Food other than corn meal and road kill. Everything else is a waste of money that only kills millions a year by not solving the problem of malaria!!!!
Well, in english its EU, in french UE. I was just keeping the same abbreviation as the parent.
While the UEEU has no power, the EUUE government pretends that it has power. Which is kind of absurd. Its like when a small town major with a giant ego visits a foreign country on a "trade mission".
The fact that we might be spying on the EUUE, makes me think our spies really have too much time on their hands.
Those real problems you list are important, but so is climate change. We always have multiple people working on multiple problems. Its too difficult to convince everyone of the most important thing to do first, so we just let them use their free will and what not to tackle the problem they find they can best make an impact on. Often in human development, we discover something by accident that ends up being a better solution to a problem than those in the field have come up with. Heck, even in physics there are scientists that study universes that obey laws of physics very different from our own, with the understanding that things they do discover may be applicable to our own. I think climate change will be very similar. In trying to reduce greenhouse gasses, they'll increase the efficiency of energy production, distribution, and the end use of it. That's something we can all benefit from, even if every credible scientist in the world who has spoken on the subject is wrong and we have nothing to worry about.
There is no UE. I don't understand why UE pretends to exist or matter. It doesn't. This event itslef was the decision of individual countries acting on their own accord. If the UE does anything important at all its just a proxy for Germany and France. Kind of like the US using NATO.
yeah, but it was the same crap on every box. that ran the same binary crap software on hardware made by different crap oems, driving the price down in the process.
I wish they were visible...

Yes. Windows 95 was by far the lightest weight and most responsive of Operating systems. Unfortunatly, every other response was a blue screen...

Dork monkey, you didn't understand the question. Restricting access to non doctors == GOOD, Restricting access to doctors == BAD
Why wouldn't you want your doctor to have your complete medical history at hand?
I understand why you'd want to limit the access to your health records, but not if that includes doctors. Especially if it includes ER doctors.
I don't think the conversion between bitcoin and local currency is that fast...

Stuxnet jumped the air gap just fine via jump drives and other sneakernet tech.
It will be default in RHEL 7, so it will be supported going forward. Gnome extensions seem to break with every other release.
Considering who's started the major wars of the last 15 years or so, I would say its your fault their hasn't been a war there recently. ;)
Also, having a keen US geographic education, they assumed Greenland was the nice temperate country in the center of Europe, right next to England.
When it passes the green land test, then green-blue land, then blue-green land, then blue land, then purple land, then Iceland.
So are ground meat and cows. I eat lamb burgers and TCP over PIM-DM you insensitive clods!

They didn't think they could hit apple's price point for the original iphone, but they were wrong. They could have met that price point.

I think we can all agree on that.
