  6. The firmware is not the same when numbers match on Reviving A Dead Hard Drive The Hard Way · · Score: 2, Interesting

    The Plist and Glist are stored on some hidden track on the HDD platter. As long as the firmware is the same the drive should work. Although I believe drive companies change firmware without changing the "Official" firmware number. This is done because the changes are only "manufacturing" related. (-;

    RevSmiley : What the fuck does that fuckn matter!? I was stroking my favorite fucking rabbit foot while installing it! FUCK YA!
    Tech support : Well sir incorrect drive handling is the number one reason of drive failures in the field.

    Drive handling is everything. Treat your drive like an egg! I can't help but to laugh at those who use a screw driver drill to install a drive then wonder why it does not work reliability.

    * RANT * Astronauts know the dangers they are getting them self's into. This was a disaster not a tragedy. A tragedy is when a 5-year-old child dies from a drive by shooting stray bullet. Not when a Scientist/ Astronaut dies doing something they love. Think about that!! As for the future of space travel, the big problem here is that space travel is still government funded. We need private sector corporations involved in space development! Think of all the natural resources in space ready for the taking! All is needed is government support of the privatization of space. Until then we will have to deal with pork barrel politics and over priced bureaucratic space programs.
