  1. Alice on Wanna Work for Dave Taylor & American McGee? · · Score: 4, Insightful

At least American McGee is capable of developing a non-cookie cutter game like Alice.

I like the Guy.. I like Twisted.. I hate repetitive crap games.. the lack of creativity. Remember the 80's? When every game looked and felt different?

I find American McGee's games reminicent of those times. Creative. Different. Strange. *FUN*

Ya, sounds like a great idea... Then you can all sign it.. and I'll get paid WAY more to code for the Dark Side!

    Heheheh

  4. Okay I Run a MS Network :( on No More Unrestricted Internet At Work · · Score: 1

I can really see management loving the idea of locking people out of the net. When I came to my current employer, all the virus profiles were out of date on the clients and the servers. Sheer ineptitude no doubt.. but the place was racked by virii, and the employees had never been told to beware of what's in the mail. We were SO close to pulling the plug on the net (email was going to stay) it wasn't funny.

So, we setup Norton Anti-Virus Corp Edition, which automagically updates it's profiles nightly, and all the profiles of the clients. We installed Trend Micro's Web-Surfing-Proxy scanner, their Email Proxy Scanner.. Since then, we haven't had a single virus. If Trend Micro doesn't get it, Norton grabs it outta the outlook mailbox. Hell, sometimes Norton gets it out of the TEMP directory of the Interscan Proxy *BEFORE* it goes to the exchange server!

Now with all these controls in place, management are much more laid back about people surfing.

Of course, Trend Micro's VirusWall Web Proxy also blocks any kinda fun site, news site, porn site... oops, did I say that :)

    It's like 1984, but we're clean..

  5. Re:Gigantic moral issues on Japan to Allow Human-Nonhuman Mixed Cloning · · Score: 1

Why does god even matter in this context? This is science, this is mankind, this is the future. I don't see why god should even be consulted. This isn't a moral issue, it's Cells, just a blob of cells. We should do as we please with them. Religion and Luddisim seem to go hand in hand these days..

This is most CERTAINLY not a troll. I actually believe in what I say.

  6. Windows Autorun on Are DVDs Software Or Films? · · Score: 1

Well, if I put this into my windows box, I'd definatly get infected. Autorun does try to Install the PC Friendly software that comes on some DVD's. You can turn Autorun off, but that's beyond most "normal" users. I personally think the company should replace all the infected dvd's.

  7. Datacenter on Security Issues with Windows 2000 Datacenter? · · Score: 5, Informative

Keep these SQL apps behind the firewall.. turn off all IIS features on the sql boxes.. and at least Nimda should not be able to get at it. Any web interface would hopefully not use Datacenter, and use standard Advanced Server, which is easily patchable. If sql was available on the front line, well, they almost deserve it.

Ya, sympatico is evil, I don't know about you, but my IP address changes every few minutes . So, I asked him.. when the IP changes, it's hanging up on me right? He goes, Yup... I go, wow.. that sucks.. my cable modem never does that to me :)

He Just kinda.. hummed and hawed.

    DSL sucks. Cable for life.
