I am, right now, IN CHINA. In person. I have just visited both links. Both show the same sets of images, both view after view after view of a column of tanks with some guy standing in front of them.

The 2nd row has a sketch of a run-over protester.

The 3rd row has a painted picture of the fronty gate of the forbidden city and a photograph of apparently the same run over protestor.

The 5th row has a map of the area and an aerial photo of the forbidden city.

Every other picture on both .cn and .com is of the protestors and the tanks. Some prior to the running over, some of the aftermath.

I am not on some fancy foireigners connection, nor am I in any way attempting to bypass any censorship. What gives? Where is this supposed censorship of Googles?

I'm not saying there is no censorship. Wikipedia, News.bbc.co.uk (and anything else starting news.bbc), all of the big photo hosting sites, geocities, tripod etc are all permanently blocked, but there is no sign of these limitations on google.

Actually, as the sentence (in it's non-perverse form) consists of a subject verb clause ("I had to help my uncle"), a defining relative clause ("Jack") and a verbal noun (or secondary verb) clause there should be no commas in either version.

This example is used only to demonstrate the importance of the capitalisation of proper nouns and is not considered a particularly usefull example as it depends entirely on a specific piece of crude slang.

It also fails as an example as it features a preposition being used as a verb, due to the dropping of the secondary verb ("to get"), again due to clumsy slang use.

All told, this example needs to be retired, and it's proponents [given some time to think of a better one/re-educated/fed into a wood-chipper] depending on how seriously they take themselves.

That is, if he/she had stated "I own a working model. It is stranded in another galaxy" I'm sure you'd not have objected? In this context under the English language "have" is a perfectly acceptable synonym for "own".

You know these protests about cartoons of Muhammad? They are caused by people like you

You say that like it's a bad thing.

In the short view, these cartoons have brought to light a very important fact (which various media outlets are scrabbling to bury again). The middle east and other affected areas are by and large still culturally and socially backward. 17th/18th century backward. Which isn't to say other countries and cultures have all the answers, but we don't burn or bomb their embassies every time they print mockeries of (for example) the vatican hierarchy, Jesus or the beard in the sky modern christian god. Which they do. Non-stop. It's surprising to find a cartoon (in those areas which actually allow pictures) or editorial in any of the media there that isn't scathing, mocking and considerably more offensive (and deliberately so) to all that the western religious fanatics hold dear.

In the long view, there are two viewpoints. Correct and incorrect. Otherwise known as religious and non-religious.

I have very few genocidal wishes, but the day the atheists and deists finally eradicate each other completely in a 3 way war and leave those of us with working intellects in peace will be a very very good one. I just hope they can be reasonably professional about it and take their propagandistic "holy" books with them.

China still has a way to go in terms of social reform, and yes, even the US is probably ahead (Though they've also got a ways to go), but people need to understand, Chinese citizens do not go around living with their heads down in fear and trembling of their government. Much like the states, Chinese people pay their (low) taxes, and in exchange the govt keeps the roads intact, the hospitals open and the water and electricity on. Beyond that, the average Chinese citizen cares nothing for the government.
