Windows CE already has adequate power management features. Decoding audio/video is a processor-intensive task, and the 16-bit high-resolution color display requires battery power. There isn't much Microsoft can do about it. It is up to the hardware manufacturer to put a bigger battery there.
You can add the PCMCIA jacket to an ipaq and insert a PCMCIA harddrive into it. Alternatively, there is a Pocket PC from UR There with a PCMCIA slot built-in. Either way the device would be too big to be Pocketable.
Yes it is, but no benchmark has been published yet so I have no idea how good the optimization is. Developers must rewrite their applications for Pocket PC 2003 in order to take advantage of the optimizations. The review kinda sucks because it tells us nothing about the performance.
Not really a review of Pocket PC 2003

In fact it is more like a review of the Asus MyPal a620 Pocket PC. I was expecting to see the detail of new features in the new OS, but it only tells me about the new media player and not much else. I am more interested about the performance of the new OS, as it is supposed to be optimized for the Xscale CPU. By the way, the MyPal Pocket PC has a terrible name and is very ugly, don't you think? I think the Taiwanese manufacturers should hire some better designers.
- The Playstation was significantly better than the SNES. - Sony signed with many game developers. Many good titles were released early with the console. BTW Final Fantasy VII was the deciding factor for my PS purchase. - Sony's marketing and brand recognition.
The Xbox has better hardware than the PS2, however not significantly, at least not in the average users point of view. Although Microsoft spent a lot of money to buy some developers, it is still not getting enough good games. I think the key to Xbox's success would be online gaming, however I think the market is still not enough to make it profitable yet.
Will Apple make a faster, simplified version of Aqua for the server? The current Mac OSX GUI seems very resource hungry. In Windows Server 2003, themes and many visual effects are disabled by default. Will Apple do the same for Mac OSX server?
Yeah Netscape released the source code, but it sucked so much the Mozilla team had to start over. It took them years to release the first version of Mozilla, and now the Mozilla suit is too bloated and slow, they have to trim down the code and work on Firebird. At the same time AOL made a deal to use IE for the next few years. I don't know it is happy end or not, but it seems to be going nowhere.
Pocket PC is based on Windows CE, but it doesn't use the default Windows CE GUI. Palm-sized PCs, based on Windows CE 2.11, used the deault GUI, and everyone thought it was too complicated to use. Then Microsoft re-designed the Pocket PC GUI to make it work more like Palm OS instead of Windows.
I have always wondered why doesn't SONY put a direction pad and game buttons on Clie PDAs. The Clies have 320x320, 16-bit color screens, plus a 200Mhz CPU. Should be more than capable for running great games.
No command shell? How do you do remote administration? Bleh, i could go on, but I don't care.
I agree with most of your points, but the command shell is not necessary for remote administration. You can always use web-based admin tools, or remote control software such as VNC, Terminal Server, pcAnywhere.
Why limit yourself to Linux? There are many nice POS systems based on Windows CE or Embedded Windows. In my previous job I supported both UNIX-based and Windows-based POS sytems, and I must say that the Windows-based systems are just as stable. The cost of the Windows license shouldn't be much of concern, because the cost of the POS application and hardware would be much bigger. I bet I will be modded down for saying this, but I am just telling my experience.
IMO FF6's graphics is much more stylish and artistic. And the music is best in the series. Have you completed the game yet? The final boss is simply spectacular.
FF6 is on top of my list too, but...
I am surprised FF8 is even on the list, it simply sucks. The plot is so out of focus, and lacks character development. The gameplay is tedious and boring, especially for the weird battle system. You can't learn magic (you have to draw magic from enemies), you can't earn money (instead you get salary but you won't use the money anyway coz there is no weapon/armor to buy). And there is no use to level up (as the enemies will level up too).
For Pocket PC:
Web broser - Pocket Internet Explorer
Remote Access - VNC, Terminal Service Client
Remote shell - SSH, telnet
Best of all, unlike the ancient single-tasking Palm OS, Pocket PC allows you to run all of them at the same time.

Dude! You think everybody lives in your time zone? It is 17:40 here on the other side of the Earth.
Screen shots from the Mother 1+2 commercial.
Looks pretty much unchanged from the original NES version.
Don't leave out Kefka in Final Fantasy VII, the greatest bad guy in video game ever. Uweeheehee!
And Bowser in Super Mario RPG... he actually joined Mario's team in the middle of the game as a playable character!

I don't think it is appropriate to use the word "volunteering" when in fact you are just hiring freelancers for an extra-low wage.

My guess is not many people are still using ANY version of the browser anyway.
Did you really think Netscape 6 could be more stable than Mozilla? Netscape 6 was simply an older version of Mozilla plus some AOL junk.
You are probably the first Slashdot reader who trusts AOL.

Show them how to multi-task in DOS using DesqView, and setup a BBS with a 2400bps modem. Use Norton Commander to manage files. And QBasic is cool too.
I know Java,
and I know JavaScript,
but what the heck is Java/Script?
Can't people check before posting an article?
You abandoned FF7 because of that dumb Chocobo? I hate Chocobo too, but FF7 is so good I think you should finish it.
