Fortunately for me I live in a rather socialist country, and in one of the cities which has decided to offer free WIFI (before the 802.11n standard makes that trivial, no less!) Toronto.
I've had a cell phone where I receive no bill for about 5 years, and it's nice:)
Apple uses 802.11n, now I don't know that much about 3G but my understanding is that it has a lower data rate and quite high latency.
Could Apple throw a monkey wrench by switching data transmission entirely over to WIFI and putting the $60 a month data plans from Telecos to pasture where it belongs?
strengthen the power of their level of government rather than keeping the government to the absolute minimum required for society to function. Both cater to corporate special interests rather than the interests of the people.
Hello republican!
Basically what you're saying above is that the R's aren't doing what you want so they must be stupid!
Unfortunately for your arguement (And the intellect of your moderators) most democrats don't need small government. Personally my reasons for this are to encourage stability (Which allows people to invest their money rather than saving it in case of a medical emergency or an Enron like energy price spike) and also a level of fairness not found in the private sector (if someone falls through the cracks the government cares, not so with private industry) I've dealt a lot with people with disabilities and the private sector won't spend the 2x-3x extra to provide services they need.
Plus I'd like to think that increases in efficiency (however rare you may believe them to be in the public sector) are typically transferred into lower taxes not higher executive payscales. I like the idea that brilliant ideas can be adopted by other areas (you'll find that provincial and state governments exchange experts far more often than industry) rather than companies needing to create profits in order to "grow" their business (think adoption of western technology as opposed to forcing Iraqi's to follow our political system).
Being somewhat socially inept I would prefer to believe the failing of America's political system has more to do with dealings and compromising than with total stupidity and incompetence but your interpretation of the problem is certainly easier to solve.
Can Wikipedia be totally removed from trademark violation, copyright violation, etc. by NEVER becoming a corporate shill?
If Wikipedia can keep knowledge as it's only goal can't we find corporate attacks against it as inherently immoral.
Wikipedia is already catching flakk for the silly political maneuverings occuring there, and, while solutions are being proposed those solutions (republicans:reprehensible actions, democrats:scandals) might not be applicable for corporate entities.
Currently any company taking legal action to remove content from Wikipedia needs to prove (at least in my mind) that the content isn't true, with Wikipedia being used as a commercial and political force this is comming into question.
Sure, the thing about Computers is that results tend to be difficult to obtain but replicable once done the first time (unless done by a hotshot, then they are totally impossible to replicate because of poor documentation etc.).
Stories that entire office departments are able to move accross are really important because they give us examples to look up to refrence problems we can expect if I wanted to migrate a department of my own.
Linux is still at a point where planning takes 10x as long as actually deploying systems, each example will hopefully bring the time taken closer.
Somewhat better, under halogens it was about the same.
It's not as good as paper.
In black and white mode it's better under both.
Remember this was a beta unit, the real result will help.

Solution, tax cigarettes (at a low rate at first) until you can tax to pay for the health risks.
A lot of countries are already doing this.
I've been thinking about it and there is a simple way to solve this problem, tax based on the amount of dangerous chemicals in a cigarrette based on testing by the public sector.
Poorer (and younger) people will likely move towards progressivly lighter cigarettes.
And there will be competition in the tobaco industry again instead of the big love in of addicted consumers.
Fool, the price of a CD hasn't increased but windows is still $1-200.
When I have you under my knife I'll take what I want, your house, your car, your parents and children's houses and cars, everything.
The concept of a free market relies on a lot of factors, I'm not saying that there aren't markets where it isn't the best solution but to not even acknowledge that such factors exist is silly.
Any business transaction where one side can walk away and the other can't will be unfair. Look at any deal the U.S. makes, when they need it more they get fucked (oil) but most of the time (like when they want to set up a military base in your country) they just fuck you up with no hope.
Here are a few examples, poorest country in the world... Haiti, why? Because they are still paying interest on the money they borrowed to buy their freedom from slavery.
That's what free markets get you.
The government offering free health care lets workers walk out of jobs, unemployment insurance means they can tell their boss to go to hell when he wants them to work 16 hours a day.
Freedom security and for the most part government provided services (especially in Canada) are cheaper (than their U.S. equivalents) overall.
The U.S. government has given up on the concept of punishing companies so accepting free markets now is more dangerous than ever.
There is a terminal available and several compilers, it lacks the more powerful IDEs but it has Vi etc.
Some issues I found while using it.
Battery Seating Issues, some problems with startup and poor compatibility with 802.11b/g routers. The Keyboard is pretty uncomfortable, they might need to spend a bit of time working on it. The three mouse buttons don't work particularly well...
It's surprisingly responsive and fast (Probably the flash disk) and lots of fun, it's quite heavy.
My buddy got one, he's working on the music system (TamTam). He's been showing it to everyone since the few of us he showed first got really excited.
My parents asked for one when they saw it as well.
Not to mention that as age increases so do earnings and theoretically time value.
Imagine your grandparents typing with their two finger technique.
Now imagine X executives each earning x000 dollars an hour typing like that. X000 lawyers typing massive legal documents like that.
Unlike CS most job requirements don't take typing skills into account, having a system that requires thought from the writer doesn't make sense when there is any chance of a totally intuitive system being available.
Plus voice is the future of remote access, talking into an earpeice to access google etc.
It's particularly scary because of all the levels this had to pass through, this isn't an isolated case of some low level executive making an aggressive move and crossing the line this is corporate policy.
Do no evil means watching for evil that might spring up, let alone doing it intentionally.
Firefox is stating that relying on things like the google toolbar may be the first part of embrace, extend, extinguish. Which I think we've all seen before, and we know where it leads.
Monopolies that we CAN'T dig ourselves out of, the web isn't as immune as we think, maybe it was when it was all HTML and search engines actually just ranked based on the contents of pages, and maybe we were when they ranked based on popularity (Though bots[including spam!]) pretty much fsked that up.
So it doesn't bother you that Montrealers are now forced to drink beer which is pretty much piss while good Quebec beers such as these are denied the possibility of gaining market share and can't even compete because Molson(-Coors) had the money to buy up the team before they entered the arena (I love sports puns).
Or did Molson a Canadian (note ironic link) company sell out to oh I dunno, Coors? the 5th largest brewer in the world (I remind you that Canada doesn't have any breweries in the top 10) for the cash to redesign their advertising rather than their beer.
Thanks to google for the links. Might have been more interesting if the web said there was only one beer company... Let's see what the world's best beer will be... we could start with the top 10.

Untill we start see sites being overhalled to have high google ranks, taking out features say yahoo or alta-vista uses to index?
Dropping support for non-google supported browsers (Anything without the google toolbar?)
Accepting that paying for google to "examine" your site before putting it on this list is fine.
Leveraging their monopoly against certain document formats (such as pdf)(or swx? Where's the integrated support for that if you have support for.doc it can't be hard it's open source!), controlling millions of people's source for news (you don't really think it matters whether people watch the daily show(the onion, slashdot, the register, etc) or Fox (New American Century) do you?
Marketshare makes people willing to pay so that you'll be "fair" in their balliwack, fair doesn't always mean treating everyone equally, it means giving people according to their needs (and if that can't be accomplished, then treating everyone equally by exploiting them equally [hence capitalism]). Google needed to get some money to satisfy their investors, let's just hope they haven't taken anyone up on any of the above "offers" or any of the (I'm sure much more clever) "offers" that B.A.'s think up.
Or at least that's my impression of the proffession, I'm sure that there are many people who thinks sharks are pretty.
We're pretty scared that the Chinese will stop keeping the American dollar afloat (They have a static exchange rate) or that OPEC will make oil transactions in Euro's instead of U.S. dollars.
If either of those happens we're going to be looking at a BIG BIG BIG recession.
Creative is an AUDIO company, their players sound better than Apple players, MS, players and every other type of player I've listened against (Except the iRiver where they were approximately equal)...
I think insulting MS for not being able to stand up to Creative is unfair, compare them to an apple player.
