    Why are we letting people who might not be the first to market with a product patent it?

    This doesn't protect inventors or the consumer.

    You need to buy a box or find it. Pack it carefully if it's electronics. It's a bit of a pain but yea most of these shipping costs are really absorbidant.

    And as someone in Canada they just go through the roof it's absurd how bad it gets.

    Sneaking accross the border, you can get accross the border without a passport or even a drivers liscence.

    Story: The Toronto Maple Leafs are the most loved hockey team in the world, tickets are sold out like 15 years in advance. But accross the border there are the Buffalo Sabres arguably the laughing stock of hockey (When I go down there their fans heckle them like mad). Anyway whenever Toronto (Or any canadian Team) plays in Buffalo the stadium get's sold out with Canadian fans.

    When the game is over they wave the hockey fans back accross the border.

    Canada has the same problem because of the laws designed to maintain culture.

    Austrailians are sitting facing Chinese and Japanese culture, both of which are much more powerful than American culture ever was.

    Fortunatly win2k and winxp are pretty sweet.

    There is no real reason to upgrade, and hasn't been for about 4-5 years (hence the derth in upgrades).

    This is about whether the EU will transition to Longhorn or MacOSX or Redhat (Or Suse).

    The EU gets the idea of sharing and the idea of just getting software right so you don't need to keep updating it.

    Ideally the media should represent the prying eyes of society.

    They have a debt to society and they want society to respect what they do, in fact they need it.

    The 5th estate should be respected, it's current troubles and scandles are unfortunate but it may be the least corruptible portion of society, the ministry of truth.

    Pursuing the small at the cost of the large.What sometimes escapes people is the government's ability to get the small right as well.
    However sometimes they use it to cover the large. In this case there is some very serious trouble going on.

    Um those hits are similar to the patriot system, they typically hit near the rocket but rarely stop it and when they do hit usually destroy the propulsion systems rather than the warheads.

    All of which is totally fine if you don't mind the warheads hitting their targets.

    And then exploding.
    But maybe I'm just picky.

    What Americans have never understood is that corperations are given a charter by the government to do a task for them.

    So when you are able to buy a new TV that comes from the government. But it cuts both ways. The government you elected is responsible for child labour the rising price of oil and allowing you to be ripped off at best buy.

    They just work you don't need to make them better every day and year.

    I.P. needs to follow in one of the greatest traditions of all time.

    People should have the right to the best tool for the job especially if it's information which can be distributed for free.

    I bought a DS with no games... waiting for some decent software to hit. I thought someone would port Skype or an equivalent over right away and I could pick up a custom loaded cart to get it working.

    Nothing the linux community has really dropped the ball this time, there is a squad working on it but they seem to be jackasses. We need a second squad.

    I'd spring for one of the pocketPC line, though maybe you could find a linux palm that does the trick. Skype is worth an extra $100.

    But For my ebooks I use the Palm Tungsten E with iSiloWeb (don't get X it's bloated crapware).

    Handles html and pdf just fine. For downloading books try irc.nullus.net #bookwarez

    You go in the studio you know you'll get hosed again you make an albumn you don't option it. You're still in to them for 3 more albumns. Finally you press something good and they take it two more.

    They have hundreds of artists and they need like 5... they will own all your work until you produce 3 things that make them some money.

    Find an independant label, do your recording and mastering yourself you'll be a better and more independant musician for it.

    People are talking about the psp, but I thinkt there are three critical issues to remove this.

    First price, open source should be developed for cheap platforms, PC Game modders should consider game pricing stuff like that.

    Second Usability, stylus, no one wants to type with the square buttong (sticky? cough).

    Third software interface, though PSP has a memcard DS has 1 gigbyte GBA carts writable cheap.
