Robber: Stole 2 wheels and hubcaps from my car. Total cost $800
Police: Towed my car for being on a jack without wheels (left by the robbers like that): $30 ticket $70 towing fee $270 damage to the car by towing. Police cost: $370.
So in my instance. The police was only around half as bad as the robbers.:-)
You know, it really irks me when people call Chomsky and other leftist leaders the "hate-america left".
These people spend their entire lives working for what they think would make America a better place. They point out America's failings, but because they feel they have a better solution.
You may disagree with their opinions, but the name calling is just plain wrong.
The fact that the world is actually warming? There's clear evidence of that. If you don't see it, then I don't know what to tell you.
The real question is whether it is human caused or cyclical climate change. But note that this does not make global warming itself a myth.
Also in my mind it makes no difference. If scientist told us we were headed towards a new ice age, I would try to do as much as I can to stop that, regardless on whether or not the ice age is human or naturally induced!
Why don't you tell some of the residents of the sinking islands in the pacific that they have nothing to worry about, because this is just a natural cyclical variation?
I agree about the president influencing the economy bit, but...
Regarding the deficit: 1) The president has almost full control over the budget. He can veto anything he doesn't like. BUSH CAN VETO SPENDING BILLS AND BRING BACK THE DEFICIT. but he doesn't. Also US deficits were of trivial quantity until the Reagan administration. There were no large deficits before that even with a democrat congress.
2) Okay. Now that would be nice. I wish the Republicans in power NOW (not 4 years ago) would learn how to cut spending. They haven't - even if you discount the ridiculous rise in military spending.
3) Again. I wish Bush would sign a bill like that.
4) And every economist in the world said that's not a realistic possibility. How many lies does Bush have to say before you stop believing him?
5) If the government gave me ONE MILLION DOLLARS that would be MERE CRUMBS compared to what is spent on other things. And although I would love that, its still a stupid govenment policy.
Tax raises are not inevitable. But for god's sakes you have to reduce spending to avoid them! And I laugh at your Democrat comment... Bush Sr raised taxes.
And just for note - I am not a Democrat. If the Republicans would revert to being a party of small government I would go back to them. Otherwise, I vote against them.
Where I live (The Greater Boston Area) a house is completely beyond most people's price range. When Studios are going for $200k+, I don't know what you can do if you take a minimum wage job.
We're saying that outsourcing stiffles inovation because it separates design from the rest of the company. This could be just as true for US companies outsourcing to India as Indian companies outsourcing to the US.
Well.. Before 9-11, the last major U.S. terrorist act was done a white male! I'm sure that you have no problems with white males facing a bit more scrutiny when boarding a plane or entering this fine county.
Racism is racism is racism. There are no justifications for it.
This looks amazingly familiar. I shipped a PC through UPS and got a package that looked like it was dropped from a plane. I mean If I TRIED to damage it more, I wouldn't have been able to.
The worst part: Although it was insured it took them a year to give me replacement parts. And by then all the replacement parts were obsolete anyway.
USPS is the way to go. Seriously. Now that they have no limit on insurance, they rock! Everything I've shipped has arrived perfectly.
I hate Microsoft as much as the next guy, but their donations to the government are not totally their evil doing.
I remember about a year ago, an anonymous congressman said that one of the reasons they were pursuing MS was that they don't contribute to anyone in Congress. Nothing about the monopoly, all about contributions.
This sounds like "protection" money. Can you blame them for paying it? In this case, I'd fault our Congress, and not the victim.
I wonder if you could legally have an escape from this. I mean, this is a form of mini DOS attack really... And given that [big national ISP] was given a warning and they did nothing - probably makes them liable.
Hmmm.. I wish I was a lawyer. Anyone out there know if this is a possible solution?
>so............instead of boycotting a country cd

Get a list of students from as many NC schools as you can get. Then - register ALL of them. The program has to die soon after that. I'm sure about 10-20 people can do enough damage to this system to get it eliminated. Even better, I would recommned putting the governor's kids (if they exist) in the list.
Bugs found a couple of weeks before release is not exactly a big thing. Most companies are scrambling to patch up the last 100 or so bugs within the last couple of days of release.
Microsoft said they had a final product almost 3 months ago, and yet they haven't shipped. Rushing isn't exactly the word that comes to mind...
The nice thing about Linux is that security holes tend to be patched up faster than Windows, but lets wait until Microsoft ships, and takes too long to patch found bugs to start complaining.
Instead of trying to fix these little things, I think NSI and all the others should disallow transfers whatsoever! No cybersquatting!!!
However, I still fail to believe that there is no legal recourse for the man. I think a lawsuit for stealing the domain is perfectly legitimate, and I bet it would hold given the right judge (its all about the judge).
I don't see how anyone could call this a case of Racism. Would AOL had done the same if the woman had been white? YES!!!
I don't understand why people have to blame EVERYTHING on Racism! And just in case, I am also a minority...
I personally see this as a simple legal case. The lady sues for breach of contract, and gets the domain back plus a nice monetary compensation. Even if she is accused of squatting, she hasn't been declared guilty, thus I don't see how she can't loose.
Then if AOL wants its domain, then it can sue for cybersquatting or settle or whatever it wants. Although I feel that legally, they don't have a chance to win.
LOL. I have a good example of my feelings:
:-)
My last theft experience:
Robber:
Stole 2 wheels and hubcaps from my car.
Total cost $800
Police:
Towed my car for being on a jack without wheels (left by the robbers like that):
$30 ticket
$70 towing fee
$270 damage to the car by towing.
Police cost: $370.
So in my instance. The police was only around half as bad as the robbers.

4) Has Microsoft ever contributed a single piece of code in a BSD license? They don't like the GPL because they can't leech off it. Well boo hoo.
The worst part: Although it was insured it took them a year to give me replacement parts. And by then all the replacement parts were obsolete anyway.

Now as for other stuff MS has been known for...
I wonder if you could legally have an escape from this. I mean, this is a form of mini DOS attack really... And given that [big national ISP] was given a warning and they did nothing - probably makes them liable.

Does anyone have the actual links to the patents? I forget where to find those things.
If its as vague as the news implies, and assuming terminal means 'electronic', then any laptop with some financial software falls into this category.
AFAIK the glorious Apple IIc predated 1987 by a good number of years.
Checkers has not been solved.
Supposedly, C. Scientists predict checkers will be solved sometime this decade.
Chess, however, is unsolvable. The search tree for chess has more nodes than there are atoms of the universe. Good Luck!
