    Actually, it is NOT NASA's fault. It is CONgress's fault. NASA was gearing up to go to the moon in the 90's and again in the 00's. In the 90's, CONgress gutted them, and then in the 00's, the same CONgress underfunded them.

    And I disagree with Bob in that I think that Commercial space will FORCE CONgress to quit trying to stop NASA. NASA really will have no choice but to either go 100% robotic (horrible idea), OR to go BEO. Note, that the majority of the neo-cons are the real culprits. ANd the tea party ppl, along with their advanced ages, are slowly forcing that kind of scum out.

    Actually, I can understand why he wants the drones to stop. I really can.

    The problem is that the pakistanis need to clean house and solve the taliban/AQ issue that they created. If Khan really wants this solved, then he should do the right thing and push his gov's intel world to stop supporting them.

    These guys did NOT do their homework.

    Joules Unlimited/Joules Fuel actually turns SEWAGE into fuel; diesel, ethanol, etc. Now, does it use water? Yup. But that is water that would normally be cleaned up at high expenses. With this case, it turns it into a profit center. Hell, this might make it profitable enough that we will willingly send water to Colorado (via building up clouds on the west coast) to cascade into the various rivers that supply the vast majority of America.

    One thing I like about CHina is that they are smart enough to realize that national security IS an issue. They are in a cold war with the west and know that if they can not control an area economically, then they should avoid that same issue.

    Really? So, top ppl at Huawei can come from ANY nation? Nope. Only CHinese are allowed. ALL employees own stock in the company? Nope. Only Chinese are allowed. Manufacturing is around the planet? Nope, just in China.

    Huawei has not shown that they are an INTERNATIONAL company. They are a private company in the same way that Air America was a private company.

    Sorry, but this is NOT xenophobic NOR racist to say that you will not accept equipment that has backdoors. Sorry, but it is insane to use communication equipment from China (or nations like North Korea, Iran, Venezuela, etc).

    LOL. Do you understand that only PART of China is Capitalists? In addition, do you know that that part is not just heavily subsidized, but has the yuan fixed to the dollar so that it is trivial to 'compete'. And do you know that there is a difference between Capitalism with Democracy vs. a Totalitarian gov. combined with a mixture of Communist and Capitalist?

    something, then it is a sign that something else is going on. If anybody in the west uses ANY of these Chinese telcos or their hardware companies, they deserve to be massively cracked. It is long past time for the west to bring back ALL important manufacturing, and much of the rest.

    And you would probably be better off not doing the immigration and instead focusing on automation. Once you have automation, then you are far more likely to return to larger families.

    Instead, we should be shutting down OLDER reactors and bringing in smaller thorium reactors that can also burn up the stored waste. The time is coming when nations are going to tax for carbon emissions. When that comes, they will wish that they were on nukes.

    Last year, we tried to take amtrack from Denver to LA and back for 4 of us (2 adults/2 kids). We thought it sounded a bit expensive at $1500, thought the plane was $1100, so we were willing to do it. Then the agent asked if we wanted that as round trip.

    I am not certain how you got NYC to LA so cheap.

    They should drop those that have paywalls. They are the ones pushing that law. The ones without paywalls are obviously making it work. But once the paywall holders realize that Google is their friend, then they will stop French politicians.

    BTW, it should not be just google. It should be google and bing (which includes yahoo). Even a day of that, possibly a week, would let the french media know that these search engines HELP them, not hurt them.

    Besides their real problem is that they had a monopoly. Now, they have competition. If they want to make loads of money, they will simply have to be the best there is. That does not mean just delivering news, but at designing websties that are useful that local citizens can not do without.

    Just out of curiosity, why exactly do you think that France is going after the ad money? Because the majority of search engines belong to America. They had one approach on how to do it, but decided that it hurt their small businesses so decided not to do that. IOW, France is looking at a way to help their press (illegally, by WTO treaty) by going after American companies money. That is pure nationalism.

    Caterpillar has 2 pay scales. The new one starts ppl at 11/hr with zero benefits. IOW, 22K/year. Then you add in the fact that the yuan is manipulated to be about 1/3 of where it is at, then you realize that CHinese workers are making pretty damn close to what American workers currently make. The only REAL advantage that China has right now, is there manipulation of their money, the dumping, the subsidies, and the trade barriers to others coming in to their markets.
