Oh, I'm quite aware of that. You'll probably notice upon re-reading it that I never claimed nor inferred otherwise. I just haven't cared about their games apart from Eternal Darkness. I might even go as far as to say that it hurts their credibility to have only put out one really standout title in all those years. Kind of like Valve when they put out Half-Life (which I'd argue isn't that great, but lots of people love it) and then didn't do anything for 6 years but milk their fan community.
Even if they had put out a ton of games that I liked, it doesn't necessarily translate into credibility on the subject of game engines and middleware. Just because you make games that are fun doesn't necessarily say anything about the technical chops or sound reasoning of your team.
So I'll say it again, they're probably right but they still come off like whining bitches because they haven't built up the credibility with me to sound authoritative and the ton seems more like a petty swipe at Epic in an attempt to deflect attention away from their continued failure to deliver Too Human. Which if I'm not mistaken has been in some stage of development for most of those 14 years that you mentioned.
Well considering that they rig the machines anyway and don't have to give back the better's money, why should it not work the other way around? It's their shitty machine, they should have tested it. It's not like an ATM where you are taking out money that belongs to you. You're betting that the machine will pull your card and give you more money than you put in, the casino is betting (only not really, because they're rigged) that it won't. If you're winning how is that anything but exactly what you're supposed to do?
Thanks for reminding me why you're on my foes list. Not like I needed any reminding, though.
Or it could be that (as I said) AND that they're whining bitches. As much as they're probably correct (for the most part) I think I'd have a little bit more respect for them if they hadn't been working so long on a game that looks so "meh" without much to show for it. As much as I love Eternal Darkness (up until the point where you get basically unlimited sanity recovery, anyway), SK just hasn't built up their credibility enough for me to not jump to calling bullshit when they appear to be whining.
I know if any EA studio had come out and said the same thing we'd all be calling them whiners and the apologists would be getting modded to hell.
Yeah, the toolset is great. And they release native versions for Linux and Mac. Hopefully they can work this out.
On the other hand though, I think it says something about Silicon Knights that they're publicly complaining about it and others don't seem to be. Perhaps it is because other developers haven't been failing to deliver their game for 10 years. Of course it could be that they just feel they have less to lose by going public...
What are they expecting home users to print on with their inkjet solar panel printers, though? I'm pretty sure paper would catch fire if put to this use and not much else will run through the printer.
Isn't it also possible to be a coward and call someone else out for being the same? Maybe he's just doing that in an awkward way as a cry for help? Maybe he's just lonely and tired of being too afraid to leave his mom's basement.
What are you talking about? Macs aren't good for art. If they were apple would have put out a tablet PC years ago. Macs are good for making idiots feel special and not much else.
I'm sure this comment isn't enough to warrant a death threat, but you're welcome to leave threats of limp-wristed slapping below.
The OP made the mistake of thinking that really bad games are funny to PLAY. They aren't, but that's obvious. They're funny just for existing. I can't believe anyone (other than maybe the execs at Eidos who bankrolled it and the two idiots who bought it) thinks that Daikatana isn't hilarious.
Kind of a pain to use, or did I miss somewhere where it lets you reorganize the menu without hacking the extension file so that the useful stuff isn't buried in menus?
Better than what I first read. I was still groggy from a nap and read "New X-Men movie starring starring David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson." Worse still, my first thought at that wasn't that I'd read something wrong but rather "who cares if Solid Snake isn't writing this one?"
It isn't about monetary value at all anyway. It's about corn being a poor source of material for producing ethanol because it is low in sugar. This type of ethanol works great in places like Brazil because they make it out of sugar cane.
If it were just about the monetary cost of things even corn ethanol wins over oil, which would be $13/gallon or more if we started charging the oil companies for our military services.
The appropriate tag would have been !playsforsure.
Imagine how excited you'll be when you get a real computer!
So he'll have a terrible article to repost tomorrow.
This guy obviously doesn't use Linux if he thinks he needs to "upgrade" to Vista to keep up with the "technology evolution."

Jackasses tend to give away their opinions for free on /. all the time.
It makes an ass out of Benton and Valerie.

DOUBLE KO!

Sssssshhhhhhhhhh... don't ruin the surprise that English isn't the world's only language.
See, this is what happens when you kick Solid Snake off your writing team! SNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKEEEE!!!!!!!
Did enough people buy Daikatana to form a class? Or can each copy Romero bought himself count as a separate member of the class?
Just another reason to stick with GPL2. Unless you like looking like a pedophile.

So when is he getting the Madden tattoo?
By kicking up a FUD storm around it and scaring people off better than microsoft could ever manage?

I thought "hardcore" meant 12-year-old gamer noobs playing Halo...
