My friend was concerned with his privacy (his communications had been tapped in the past) and we used SSH to provide security for our voice communications. It's a reliable system and so far we have no complaints. SSH is a great system for secure calls. VoIP networks should implement SSH.
The people that designed Columbia? I wouldn't be suprised if a bunch of worms and viruses for Linux crop up soon. I hope the government isn't using this OS, the terrorists were proficient in Linux if you remember.
For what you can get for free? I have solar power, I get water from the nearby creek (no fluoride!), and I acquire my music for free, so to speak. I have an ultra-top secret satellite connection to the internet. The only problem is when I lose power when the clouds cast over the solar panels.
Trademarks are used to censor free-speech, if you use a word that has the magical (R) beside it a company that owns it can leverage a lawsuit at you. It kind of reminds me of how companies have censored researchers with the DMCA, only it doesn't apply just to research.
