Oddly, floppies are great for debug and making code changes during the boot process. There are times when you do not have access to the disk or console (yet) and still need to know what is happening. Redirecting standard error to a file on a floppy has saved my bacon more times that I can count. It is also good if I need to "inject" new code into a system that is barely booted up. (no network, no disk access) Burning a CD/DVD for a 12K shell script seems a waste to me.
I know I am probably a special case though. I don't buy millions of them, but when I buy new test systems, they must have a floppy drive.
Dude, it's a POC! It only needs to be good enough to see the possibilities. Besides, it was done by engineers at a University. Were you expecting a "Steve Jobs" amazing world changing demo?
Steve Jobs is not an engineer

I don't understand how the ipod, ipad, or iphone can be attributed to Steve Jobs. Yes, he is the CEO and ultimately responsible for the products they sell, but Jonathan Ivy is really the one who has spearheaded the design and engineering of these devices. If anything, it would be better to say that Jonathan Ivy has out-done Woz. Steve is just along to promote, market and evangelize.
I think the purpose is not to turn the library into an arcade (remember that babysitter), but allow people to check-out games just like books, DVDs, and CDs.
I didn't have any moderator points, so I give you a -11 Troll. There are always better methods of persuasion than calling someone a motherfucking tool and a fuck. It doesn't help to further your point. Just makes you look immature.

The guy in the bear suit wasn't even Muhammed. As became clear in episode 201, it was fucking Santa Claus.
They have gone too far. Depicting our beloved Santa Claus in a bear suit! We will hunt you down Mr Parker and Mr Stone. You will experience our wrath!
This was informative, well thought out, and interesting. You must be new here.
Well done sir. I look forward to a youtube version of this.
I've been reading and posting here (mostly non-anonoymously) for 13 years
Let's see your user id, or I call bullshit! ;-)

It would be a shame is something was to happen to it.
Yeah, with 230 countries, I am starting to question that 6.4 million computer number as well.

Yeah a BSOD is harsh, but finding your bank account mysteriously drained of funds is more harsh. At least they found out.
