So, you can now make VOIP calls using your AT&T 3G network (which is dodgy) using your PHONE! Here is an idea. Why not use the phone part of your phone to make calls?
If you use skype or whatever to call your friends and family in [insert distant country], then I see a use. But my calling circle is mostly local. Sounds interesting but will anyone use it?
I remember Apple having an advert that exploited this. The Apple G4 was considered a weapon. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Eb1yih5kNY
I love the line at the end "As for the PC, it's harmless"
Everybody seems to walk on egg shells as to not cause friction with China because of the "possible" loss of customers they get access to. I applaud Google for this. Just because China has 1.3 billion people does not make them all good customers. I know a lot of software developers who would rather stay out of China because after the first license is sold, it's pirated and re-distributed by their competitors.
So my point, why compromise your ethics for a hostile business environment that might lead to further problems and minimal increase in the balance sheets. Way to go Google!
I noticed that the site was a little cheap. Also, check out the merchandise. I do not know cars and boats, but I checked out some of the art. Seems they are peddling some cheap art for high prices. I wonder if this isn't part of their scam.
You were already modded to 5, but this comment should get 6. I love it when the grammar Nazis get knocked on their ass. Good Job!

Presenting executives with log files, or web stats is no way to communicate with your boss. This will give him/her an idea of the work the server is doing, but not you. You might want to present your to-do lists. These to-do lists should include completed and incomplete tasks. Since it is a small company and you are the only SA, you might try to attend the companies planning meetings. Be a part of the company instead of just an employee and you won't have to worry about CYA all the time.
Still doesn't make it something I see a lot of people wanting to do.
This is why I stopped reading Linux Journal. There would be some nice technical articles, but there seemed to be a lot how-to articles that only 1 or 2 people would care about. (i.e. Linux powered sump pump)
The "because you can" argument is getting old. I like the "because you can AND you can benefit from it".
I was talking about subscription service which is different than buying from the newsstand. I am not debating the merits of what he would do with the info (most likely bad things). It just appeared that he wanted customers to purchase "subscriptions" from them directly instead of Amazon acting as the reseller.
Which again is very different from the headline of "Murdock demanding Kindle user info".
It looks to me like he is not requesting every kindle users info (as the headline suggests). But he is requesting that when a user subscribes to The Wall Street Journal via a kindle, they are a customer of TWSJ and not Amazon. Sounds reasonable to me. That way the user could change devices and keep their subscriptions.
I know there will be a lot of "haters" regarding this. However, if the hopes of smoothly transitioning users from MS Office to OpenOffice it will need to give an option to have a similar look and feel.
Besides, I wonder how much money was spent by Microsoft on usability studies to come up with this interface. How much money has been spent on usability studies for OpenOffice? Might turn out to be a better way to work in the long run. Just because it is MS does not necessarily mean it is sh*t. That just seems to be the default.
Exactly
Games played: None since Atari 2600. I'm fine with that.

I think that is the next release of OpenBSD.

I am a little weary of making my surfing experience happier by allowing the system to do my thinking for me. Just think, "clippy" for the browser.

The term "Why Does Windows Still Suck?" seems to still work fine. Phew, I was afraid of that one.

To transition non-tech employees to Linux, I used an XP theme on Ubuntu. http://ubuntu.online02.com/node/14
The transition was flawless.

That sound going over your head was the point of his comment.
