It's the Bigger Dick theory. Keeping up with the Jones theory. Finally but not the least Theory...The Smeagle Theory also known as fan boy theory... All of these theories have one thing in common, more money than brains.....
When we start doing these things, it will cripple a segment of the population. Do you really think that the medical industry won't want to make a ton of money off this? This will be for the rich and well off, just like most of our medical advancements over the last 20-40 years.
Nothing and I mean Nothing since that time has come even close to that accomplishment. Hell we can't even put a man in space anymore, forget about land them on anything. The u.s. space program is a joke. It's a joke because it's lost 90% of it's budget over the last 20 years. Ever president for the last 20 years has cut R and D spending in space. That's why I never got the flying cars or hotels on the moon in my lifetime. It is also why I don't that even my kids or grand kids or great grand kids will have them either. We will spend billions of dollars fighting over stupid crap here on earth forever.
That only problem with the dye idea, is that it makes for fake shortages. That makes the price of diesel fuel jump all over the place. Farmers and normal consumers pay more in the end. That dye idea is a really stupid way to work things.
Just how many bad numbers do you need to see?????? Home values take the largest dump in 20 years. Oil hits all time highes everyother day. The dollar is weaker than ever in my life time (over 40). Food prices are on a huge increase. Consumer confidence falls to near 16-year low. Oh and that's just in todays headlines. I just don't get where the "bury my head in the sand and everything will be ok" mentality comes from? I'm not saying that the world is coming to an end, but to think that there is nothing wrong. huh?????? Stop watching Bush give speaches on the economy and you should be just fine....lol You can't ask an elected offical to tell you what's going on with the economy. He has too many "advisors" telling him not to hand out anything that might be negative. Ask normal people like me that lost 15,000 in home value in the last 2 years. Ask the construction worker that is finding it hard to find work, cause they just aren't building that many homes now. Ask the trucker that is having a hardtime affording all the diesel that he truck uses. Ask families that aren't eating out that much, cause everything cost too much. Ask the waitress that isn't getting that many or as big tips anymore. Ask all kinds of people that were looking forward to the boost the holiday travel was suppose to bring. Just how good was their weekend?????
They aren't stupid. This is the Standard MO of most US companies. Screw the customer, till you get caught and then say opps and pay a little fine.
Don't you know by now that most companies in the US sit down and think this out. "Lets see, we can make this much money (A) while screwing the customer. It will take this long (B) to get caught. We will make this much (C = (A X B)). When we get caught it will cost us this much (D) in legal fees and fines. So if C > D then it's what they do."
This is not going to change anytime soon. When the punishments never add up even close to what they make. Welcome to the Corporate United States Of America.
You don't restrict it...because you are right kids will work around that. Look in on them from time to time. Put on a keylogger. I am so tired and hearing that we need to lock up this and lock up that to protect the children. What we need to do is go back to the parents and get them to do their job.
I have a boy of 11 of my own. He gets on the internet all the time. I have a keylogger on his system. I know all of his passwords, i can get into all of his accounts and i do. He plays online video games with voice chat. I hide recorder in the room and record him all the time. We need parents that will stop all this crap about let the kids do what they want. Let them have their space. BS that is a way to let you child get in trouble. Besides if its done right the kids never know. And we all know that privacy doesn't really exsist, it's an illusion. If you think spying on your kids is the wrong thing to do, and you child gets in this kind of trouble. Don't come whining to anyone for what happened. You let it happen by not watching out for you child. See what all that space and privacy did for this little girl???? Worked out well huh??
Well we talk all the time on here about the power of the user. Lets find out if we have any? Prob. not but it's worth a try. Lets flood their feedback forum with messages to let them know how we (the users) feel about the idea of having Microsoft as the new keeper of our email and other data. Here is a link to the feedback.

Let's see if we really can make a differance.
That's because you are what is called "book smart" right now. Anyone, in any industry can tell you that people fresh out of school, find out they learn more in the first months on a real job, than they did in years of school.
The comments that games aren't that important to the desktop drive me nuts. (ok everyone get ready to flame me) I have been in the retail and repair part of computers for over 12 years. And most of the time the comments on here make me think, but saying games don't matter, is just plain stupid. Most of the customers that i have sold computers to for the last 5 years tell me that they want something that will get on the net. You know they want to do some web browsing and email, maybe im a sister or relative or friends out of town. So hey linux would work just fine right? Nope because the next thing they will tell you, and this goes for 99% of the regular home computer users, "I would like to be able to play some games on it too, you know nothing big." I am sorry to disapoint the uber linux geeks on here, but mom and aunt betty want their mahjong, bejeweled and uncle john wants his texas holdem and deer hunter 99 (don't ask me why, i don't know) and their kids want battlefield, WOW, C&C3 and the other games that are making people millions every year. If linux had even two or three of the major tiles released every year working right out of the box. You would finnaly see in a couple of years linux start to take over the desktop. The average user needs his or hers little silly game to work on their "busness computer". If you don't think this is true then you have sat in your basement coding for way to long and just like the companies that you bash on here, you too are out of touch with the general computer user. I mean after all what does the linux community have to loose by making linux work with games? Notice how i worded that...i didn't say make the games work with patches....make changes inside linux that make it easier for the games to be written to work. This is suppose to be software that can be changed and adapted to meet the needs of it's users...well start making it work for the users that everyone whines about wanting on linux. Aunt Betty and Uncle John are waiting to play bejeweled help them out.
The problem is that there will be no checks and balances. Oh they will say "we will have a commitee that watches over this." You know five of the mayors buddies and one poor smuck of a citizen just to keep looking sorta fair.
"They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." -- Benjamin Franklin, Historical Review of Pennsylvania (1759)
You Don't suppose that it's because the "main stream" thing that windows has over linux sucks on Vista. How stupid can M$ be...come on guys.....games..........games.......3d sound.....games...got the hint yet...LOL
I've worked in a repair shop for 12 years. When i see someone with an emachine and the blue Win xp OEM sticker on the back, if the Motherboard is bad, they have to buy a new copy of Windoze. The first time this happened, i spent hours on the phone with both emachine and MS. Because it is an OEM copy MS says that you have to deal with Emachine. Emachine says that it is a MS problem. For those of you that haven't seen this, and from reading the post non of you have, the number that you are suppose to give to ms for activation is alittle differant the last set of numbers is only 2 digits long. After doing alot of searching of the net, I found the problem. Emachine made a deal with MS to get windows at a discount, They tied the copy of windows to the motherboard. Some combination of the hardware included on the board is the key. What you needed to find was a board that was exactly like the original. Same chipset version, same built on vid, everything the same. Then you have a chance of it reactivating. Just another way that Emachine saves money and M$ screws the customer. SSDD........
This is not a "controversial" issue, it is quite simple. It's a question of right and wrong
Right: apply for a visa.
Wrong: Jump a Fence at Two in the morning, breaking the law.
You are so very right, it is quite simple. It's a question, why reward someone that broke the law to get here. Non, I will repeat that, NON of the Illegal Immigrants are law abiding. They broke the law to get here. Quite simple indeed.
Come on one of Dell's crappy $299 system doen't run xp worth a crap. They will just add another 128 megs of ram (for a total of 256) and use a motherboard that lets them share 64 or 128 of it for video. That will give them a crappy slow vista $349 system that will run just as slow as their crappy $299 xp system. The general public will eat it up just like they did last time. Those of us that have to fix and repair them will have the same problem as before. A machine that is so under powered that 4 programs running in the background will bring it to their knees. With a customer that just doesn't understand why their little crappy dell doesn't run as fast as the one their friend built from stratch.
same crap differant OS
Seat belt law, helmet law, just more ways that our "wonderful" government helps protect us from ourselves. We have tons of laws like this that help protect the stupid. They have to do this so that they still can find people to vote for them. Not enough stupid people to vote and most of the folks in office couldn't win reelection.
well i haven't looked at frame rates..i just know it doesn't chunk..looks smooth outside in the rain fighting a couple of npc's. Not sure i like the attack on computer repair center techs. I will agree alot of them are a+ certified morons, doesn't mean we all are. Also getting a game to run right sometimes has alot to do with the ver of drivers that you are using, and what brand of hardware you are running it on. If the original poster is running it on a cheap motherboard, or on a "big store box" not built for gaming then you will have problems. And I am not impressed either with your "I'm a computer consultant (for about 13 or 14 years now). Just wondering is your better system a dell or and itel based box?
You must have something wrong...I run Oblivion on a 939 3000+ with a 256 meg 6800 with a gig of ram at 1280 x 1024 and it runs like a charm.
I work in a computer repair center and have for the last 11 years. Most of the time when a game runs poorly on a system that it should run fine on. It's alot of crap running in the background. If you have more than 3-4 icons down in the bottom right hand side, next to your clock you've got too many. (and they should be things like a speaker icon, not messagers or hp allinone helper programs) I also my wireless card also...Oblivion it's networkable to why waste the resorces?
You need to do some reading...the ISS won't work for a base camp. During the design section, It was desided to use an obit position that would let both the US and Russia launch sites access it. That put it in an obit that made it useless for launching anything to the moon or beyound. Thus I believe why noone really wants to pay for it now.
But you still have to have an os that can be installed and work right. linux doesn't all the time...heck most of the time. Windows has problems and i am sure we will find more tomorrow..(hehehehehehe) but when you install a program....that program comes with everything it needs to run. linux doesn't work that way...you install a program and it needs another compontant and that componant needs another and another and another. Sometimes you find the right distro and it works fine for one thing you want just to findout that they broke somethingelse that you need and worked in the ver before. No i would say that linux is a very long way from being a gaming platform...a long ways.
It's the Bigger Dick theory. Keeping up with the Jones theory. Finally but not the least Theory...The Smeagle Theory also known as fan boy theory... All of these theories have one thing in common, more money than brains.....
Who cares it's Apple. It's only 20% or so of the market. It's time for them to get on board with something, instead of saying my way or the highway.
