I much prefer to see non-government entities going after Microsoft. It makes me uncomfortable when I see state and federal entities going after a company that doesn't have "clear cut" criminal activity going on. They *have* done harm to other companies. Those companies should sue.
Much as I dislike them, the government's lawsuit against Microsoft has always looked a little too much like the government getting nervous with MS's cash reserves. The gov't doesn't like entities it can't push around.
Sorry, I have just seen this post so many times in the past that I couldn't resist bringing it up.
Seriously, though, this would beat the pants off of my overclocked celeron 300a (to 450 - and it's been running that way for over two years) and I could serve up web pages even faster to the 3 people that connect to my site...:(
that will surely bring out a heated discussion about which OS is better, Linux, xBSD, win95, etc...
In the immortal words of some character from Monty Python and the Quest for the Holy Grail, "No, please! This is supposed to be a happy occasion!
Let's not bicker and argue about who killed who..."
Oh, of course I use .wma...

Non-MP3 Codecs?

Because I have to quit this filthy.mp3 habit. I need the music industry to help me overcome my addiction to free music, so with digital content controls I won't be tempted to download gigabyte upon gigabyte of free music. I won't have to continue working this extra part-time job to support my purchases of extra hard drive space.
Just create one or two characters that are shameless exploiters of others and use that character to hawk your wares at your site. Scott Adams' site has Dogbert selling anything and everything Dilbert. It seems to be a winning combination.
Whether or not they continue serving up spyware to the public? Yea, you get your songs, but they get your information! Why would anyone want to install a bunch of garbage on their system? Here is a link to a page with more information.
The combination itself is pretty worrisome. Qwest aside from being a spammer's best friend, Qwest is being sued in Arizona by the state attorney general for "repeatedly defraud[ing] phone customers in Arizona by placing unauthorized charges on their phone accounts". In light of allegations like these, fairness seems to be the least of their concerns. Additionally, there is a huge uproar in Arizona about Qwest selling their customer's private information such as numbers called, etc. to marketing companies.
They are the perfect model for everything evil in corporations.
Probably the most honest news portal I have seen is World Net Daily. They seem to have their adds mixed in with the news, but it isn't misleading. Obviously they have to make a buck somehow.
Anyway, they do seem to put the facts into their news.
I agree. If your system is crashing all of the time, you must be using either Win98 or WinMe. I haven't had office 2000 crash on Windows 2000 ever. I also have written a lot of articles on this configuration with versioning enabled.
However, I have had WordXP on Windows XP crash a number of times using versioning. I would avoid the upgrade to Office XP for the time being.
Whenever I go to purchase any kind of consumer electronic whatever, I scope it out on Shopper.cnet.com . I get pretty dang good information from them, and usually decent feedback from the users also.
However, if a vendor is aware that a review is going to be done of their product, it is obviously in their best interest to make sure that the reviewer has all the information they need. When that is offered, and the reviewer doesn't take advantage, what recourse does the vendor have?
So, does this mean that I won't be able to hunt as a resident in 6 western states now?
Oh wait. I forgot, they force you to use your Social Security number in order to "Catch" Dead Beat Dad's.
This is a perfect example of how our government is using a philosophy of incrementalism to increase the transparency of our society. A society that isn't transparent cannot be controlled.
It seems to me that people are underestimating Microsoft once M$ decides they are going to enter a particular market segment. M$ doesn't enter a market for the short term, or to generate a profit immediately. They are looking at the *Long Term*, and they look at how a particular venture fits into their strategy as a whole.
It appears that they want to have their OS running everything from PDA's to Cell phones, to Game boxes. This is just an extention of controlling the platform that devices are run from. From the XBox to Stinger, to PocketPC 2002, they want to have their OS running it all. As Palm and Apple can attest, Microsoft may not get it right the first or even the second time, but they will at least be close by the third. At that point Nintendo will be shaking in their boots, and Microsoft will be passing them by in sales.
I am not a Microsoft fan, but I am a realist. Microsoft can be criticized for a lot of things, but not doing their market research isn't one of them.
It is important for law enforcement to have the tools at their disposal to be able to properly investigate crime and gather evidence. The question becomes how much we trust Law Enforcement. I certainly don't trust any branch of the government that isn't overseen by another. For an investigative agency to be able to use some method of surveillance without oversight by the Judiciary is a grave concern given the recent attention brought to FBI corruption, scandals, ineptitude, etc.
Why don't we have our law enforcement and investigative agencies cleaned up before we give them sweeping new powers?

You're right. Just a wannabe. Sorry, I'll have to make sure my stupid posts are at least Spelled correctly! :)
My Bad!
A beowolf cluster of these?

Even worse, your 450 is still 100 MHz faster than my 350. I really need to upgrade.
...if their budget system is 4 times faster than my system?
*blush in shame*
And I consider myself a geek...
