Shouldn't it be taken as a given that any theory not proved may in fact be completely wrong? Maybe the way things really work in the universe is simply beyond our ability to comprehend. So they do what any good scientist would do: create the theories which they can understand and attempt to improve them rather than just throwing our hands up and yelling "who the hell knows?". Is their a possibility they are wrong? Of course. But at least we can try to come up with theories that can explain things. When you find a better one let em know. Otherwise keep trying but don't be suprised if people are wrong.

Who says there is a simple solution anyway. As I have already stated maybe the secrets of the universe are just really really complex. 10,000 years ago we were still throwing sticks at wholly mammoths and living in caves. 1 million years ago we were as dumb as dirt, 1 million years from now maybe our decendents will say the same of us. It is arrogance to think that such primitive creatures as oursleves could fully grasp all the mysteries of the universe with our simple understanding of world around us (not to mention how boring it would be for our decendents if we figured everything out now.) To qoute Forbidden Planet: "The fool! To think the primitive H-brain could hold the secrets of the Krell!"

Actually my understanding is they do. I don't know the details but the law on marriage at the moment I bleieve states that all states must recognize each others marriages with the provision that congress has the sole right to decide what marriage constitutes if it ever so chooses to execute that power. Basically if someone gets married in Nevada, Alabama would be forced to recognize that marriage if that marriage falls within the definition of congress. It was basically a way of getting the states to recognize each others marriage licenses (which are granted by the power of the state you get it in.) Why do you think people run off to Vegas to get hitched? Nevada has more liberal laws concerning marriage and so ppl run off get married and return to their home state with the understanding that their home state will recognize that marriage. The problem with Massacheuts(sic) is by allowing such marriages in Mass. they force every other state to recognize such marriages in their home states (even though those states may not allow them.)

Do you own a house? Did you pay for your car yourself or did your parents buy it for you? Do you ever plan on raising a family? Who payed for your college education, entirely you or did your parents help? What about insurance? What if you get sick or hurt, do you have enough saved to survive while being unemployed?

I don't know about you (the fact that you list the currrency as canadian is telling) but around here an apartment (forget the word decent) costs about $800 a month. That works out to be $9600 a year. That doens't include electric or water bills. Then their is car repair (or mass transit if you don't own one), doctors visits and dentists visits we'll classify under insurance, human need products (clothing, toilet paper, etc.). You'd be lucky to walk away with $1200. You woulld then be required to spend every cent of that on food ($100 a month won't get you far - you'll be eating a whole lot of ramen noodle soup.) Which leaves with with zero spending money if your lucky, most likely you'll end up in debt just trying to survive. And forget having a family.

This of course is ignoring the phenomenon Dorthy Day first noted when examining why people who were poor couldn't seem to rise above the levels of abject poverty. The reason she soon discovered was that when you are poor you are not as well protected from getting ripped off as you are when your middle class. When you have no where to go, you are easy to take advantage of. They know you have to grin and bear it and so they take as many liberties as they can legally get away with. Example: apartments: your landlord knows that if he kicks you out you have no wehre to turn and will most likely end up on the street. That means that he can treat you in ways that would make any middle class person say to hell with this and move. So why don't they? Cause they have no where else to go. And if you don't like it they can easily get soemone else to pay for the apartment. Once your listed as a trouble tenant your rent will get even worse assuming you can even find a place at that levels. then their is the issue of job. If you live in the slums (which is where the cheap apartments are lcoated) do you really think a lot of places will be keen on hiring you or keeping you as an employee?
Even if you look at the legitimate costs, you can't live on $11,000 a year. When you take on the hidden costs (example: paying $100 a month to rent shitty furniture most people would throw out, paying extra for the landlord to fix such basic things as the plumbing or electrics cause if the place is condemened you'll end up on the streets) things are impossible. High standard of living my ass.

However, instead of the usual numbers, what you do is fill in each space in the sheet with a timeless phrase of managment bs such as "out of the box", "synergy", "maximizing potentional", or any phrase that has the word 'motivation' in it without the word 'money'. You then set up an agreed upon sign to alert the others when you have won (for example: tapping the table with your pencil) since shouting 'bingo' in the meeting would not only look odd but also would alert the management as to what is really going on. Then during the meeting you all sit and look like you're paying attention and wait for the manager/management to start the spouting. As each phrase is uttered, you cross it off and hope for the win.

    According to webster.com, Fascism is:
Fascism - a political philosophy, movement, or regime (as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition.

If you read Musollini's paper on the subject (you'll find a copy in just about any introductory book on philosphy) you would find the fascism is basically the elevation of the state above all else (which Musollini basically equated himself too, in fascist states the dictator usually became a symbhol of the state and eventaully displaces the position of the state itself.) So you see, government raids are only a tool of fascism and not its main characteristic. Before the american revolution, british soldiers became infamous for searching peoples houses without warrant but that did not make the british fascists, only tyrants. So the charge you should be leveling is that of tyranny by the government. It led our country to revolution once before and such a charge is far more likely to get our public officals attention were calling them nazis will only get you ignored.

Their major problems from the articles I read on it seems to be in choosing an engine and sticking with it long enough to get to a release. It basically goes: they design and partially code the thing for the latest engine however by then an even better engine comes out and so they go back to designing it for the new engine in order to keep their game looking good. Of course by then, a new engine comes out and they do it again. They did it for the unreal engine, they did it for I think the Quake 3 engine too. They are probably going to do it for the Doom 3 engine as well. It basically is an un ending attempt to stay top of the line.
