Raph Koster seems to dislike the fact that instancing destroys the sense of world and community and that "there weren't a lot of large group goals," yet this describes exactly what's going on with EQ/EQ2 lately. And he's the creative director for Sony Online Entertainment? What's the deal? Who's really running the show at SOE? Also "the 'play single-player games alongside multiple people' trend." These are some of the developments really driving me crazy about new MMOs, ruining a lot of the things that I liked most in original EQ. There seem to be a number of developers talking about these problems, yet I don't see solutions in new games (though it's looking hopeful for Vanguard).
Do they still speak English in Australia? They're not holding the population responsible! Clearly you don't understand what it means that it's a figure of speech. There is a technical term for this that I can't remember. Anyway, it's easily understandable that people are talking about the government when they say "Canberra" (except to a few people, apparently). USians do the same thing with "Washington", Britons do the same thing with "Downing Street". Obviously the drug dealers and gangbangers in Washington, D.C. aren't invading Iraq and a physical street can't be Bush's lapdog.
Stores don't have to stock them at all: the download model works perfectly for MMOs. But a number of stores did and probably still do stock $10 EQ classic anyway.
You people are so closedminded. What about 2k resolution movies with lossless compression? That's going to be a lot more than 10 Mbps. 640 KB was once enough too.
Yes, hydrogen bashers like to conveniently ignore the sun as a source of energy. And the few who don't ignore it instead complain about technicalities like solar cells being inefficient. Think outside the box. What if every building in the United States had solar panels installed on its roof? That is a shitload of energy no matter how inefficient the conversion. If everyone wasn't so negative and we put that effort of complaining into research and development, soon enough, we'd have an economical source of abundant energy. We would have never landed on the moon either if everyone was as negative about that (do not even think about bringing up Fox mockumentaries at this point). Can you imagine JFK saying, "Well guys we got into space, but this moon thing, it's nuts, we'll never make it, it's so far and it might be made of cheese"? These people are keeping humanity in the energy dark ages.
No, that is just between those three casinos, all owned by the Mandalay Resort Group. This uber-monorail is seperate and only goes down as far as the MGM Grand.
Ok, ok, you're all right, he's probably not going to prison. But it would be ironic if he did. I'm sure some lawyer could find some law he was violating. =P
Scammer attempts escrow fraud for a notebook computer. Computer seller sends fake computer to scammer who believes the scam is working, pays 27.5% tax on the "computer's" value of $2000, and presumably discovers he has just been owned.
(Scammer will get the last laugh as seller will soon be going to Federal pound-me-in-the-ass prison for mail fraud.)
I think you ended up with bad karma because you're a jackass. There's no need to start attacking people who you disagree with; try to keep it civilized and maybe your opinions will be more valued.
I've never quite understood the rest of the world on this one--I like real football, I don't like American imperialism, I like Scandinavian death metal, etc. But I cannot fathom why anyone would want to send text messages rather than TALK on their PHONES or browse the web on a crappy display with no mouse or proper keyboard. Whatever floats your boat, I guess.

Duh, we slashdotted them!

It's just a figure of speech...
Hmm, I wonder if it's cut or uncut.

Sure, keep deluding yourself that China can't do all that and better in a truly open market.
Well, the governor IS Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Dream on...politicians will NEVER completely give up any funding source. If they say otherwise about this one they're lying.
Was there a reason that Valve kept Vivendi in the loop?
Yes, it's called a contract.
The solution is obvious: 1+ 1+ 1= 3
This is the Chinese government we're talking about. I'd call that generous.

So I guess it makes no difference if companies make shoddy products--as long as they can't kill you.
Wasn't Newton old and senile by 1720 anyway?

Of course it is. What's your point?
Only in the BSD section.
No, the copyright owner(s) can give explicit permission for ANY uses of their code regardless of whether it also happens to be licensed under the GPL.

Did they post a list of the WAPs they found anywhere? They flew right over my place and I want to know if they saw mine!
