  1. Re:Four Cores and Seven Years Ago COUPLE PROBS HER on AMD Announces Quad Core Tape-Out · · Score: 1
    Couple problems here:

Intel just got to the 2 cores per die stage. Their 4 core design is 2 dual cores slapped together.

Most people don't care if it's four cores on the die, or two dies inside the package. They both have four cores and plug into a single socket.

It could do untold damage to Intel's ability to sell those quads if AMD's quad solution blows it away,

So far Intel's Core 2 Duo dual cores are beating AMD64-X2 at the top of the market. It's rash of you, to say the least, that when two Intel cores are beating two AMD cores, that somehow four AMD cores will beat four Intel cores.

I can't think of a better value-added service that any search engine can provide in these days of dodgy web-sites. Would be nice if, like their Adult Content filter for images, you could simply set your Google to not even ask you if you wanted to continue, but block out these sites entirely (remember other people use your computer too).

Or even better still, read the Google cache of the site with all the bad stuff removed. That would be trick!

3: The city attorney, who didn't immediately drop these bogus charges (he, at least, has no excuse at all for not knowing the law) should be immediately fired, suspended, or recalled as appropriate.

The airline industry was a cozy cartel before being deregulated in the 1970's.

This is a truly bad comparison. After deregulation new airlines (e.g. People's Express) could get started while previously single-state restricted airlines (e.g. PSA and SouthWest) could expand outside of their state. In fact it took big states like California and Texas just to support a state restricted airline before.

Afterwards all airlines got relatively equally access to the necessary resources (e.g. airports), and I could choose among a large selection of air carriers for my trip.

This isn't the same as when there's one coax cable and one copper twisted pair coming to my house. I don't have a good choice of competition in this monopoly market.

I'll tell you who I am willing to choose however. It will be the first company who brings fiber to my curb at non-extortionaire prices.
