  1. Re:Simple Reason on TV Losing to Video Games · · Score: 1

I got pretty sick of "Must See" TV shows. Comedy shows are far to predictable. And the laugh tracks that they play do not reflect reality.

The best show on regular TV channels is Enterprise. It has some good writers. And two weeks ago they had an amazing story that really drew me in.

Also the Discovery and TLC channels have some good material on now. And I think these channels usually slip past the rating systems.

My wife will also watch what ever I watch too! She can even tell you where the Swing-Arm is on a motorcycle. A testimate to much American Chopper viewing. Heck, even the pizza box from last week had this show on it. A statement to popularity.

But games are better than TV - interaction, exploration, puzzle solving... It blows away anything out of Central Perk!

I also got some paint ideas for it. Customizing the thing sounds like a blast. And because it comes in white, it should be easy. Battle damage any one?

So what if he grabbed a soda and sat on the couch? It's all virtual any way. The important thing is that his intentions weren't malicious. And he wasn't trying to extort money from NYT nor was he trying to steal CC numbers.

It's a criminal act without criminal intent. Adrian Lamo came forward to NYT with the imformation. (The NYT didn't know about the security hole.) And he turned himself in to the FBI when he heard he was wanted. A criminal would not have been so honest. And the prosecution should lighten up.

  14. Re:So in other words.. on New Battlestar Galactica Premieres Monday · · Score: 1

DS9 was not to my liking. I like Star Trek for the adventure and the intrigue. But DS9 was a stale space station with a Cardassian war in twined with it. Not even Warf could draw in my vote. It was a lot to do with the same old set. It just had a lull about it.

But, wait a minute, Voyager was great! Sure, it felt a little like left overs. Especially after the amazing ST:TNG - that cast and series was superb. But Voyager had a good story. Good crew. And a captain with a bulletproof hairdo! Oh, and let me not forget Jeri Ryan! Wow. It ended a lot weird. But after an episode or two, it was a worthy show.

-But, Back on track, Battlestar Galactica... I fully appose naming female characters as "Starbuck" and "Boomer"!!!!!!!!!! Call them "Starpenny" and "Bloomer" but don't take a previously existing character's name and call it a brilliant spin on the original. That's shameful. And what I liked most, the evil metallic voices with the glowing eyes, the Cylons. They're now skinned in flesh tones and hair follicles? How ridiculous. It might be a good show in the long run. It might have a good story. But I think it's a blasphemous give it that name. The title was only given to the show to draw in an audience who light-heartedly anticipate something as fun as the first.

And the customer doesn't have to worry about your company going through starvation because you forgot to install the pancreas. There's a level of normalcy that is had with evolution. It's weird to say that. But as technology evolves certain things become the standard. Like, would you expect a library to function work with-out bar codes? Or would you miss on-line banking if your bank didn't have it? I think customers are savvy and expect more. You have to keep up with the other companies, and strive to serve the customer a little better. We'll know if IT matters when Apple's iTunes sells more than Tower Records...

Instead they help divide the functions so deeply that the customer becomes frustrated while trying to get answers... That's when IT fails. And perhaps the only example that I can come up with of IT that doesn't help.

There is still a lot left that corporate can do to take better advantage of IT. There is a whole line of new customers who prefer to use technology instead of the old methods of doing business. Have you spent hours researching your next car on-line instead of trusting a salesman? Or buy products through the convience of the Internet instead of drive 15 minutes to a shop that you know who carry's the same item?

I am this type of person. And I feel I'm not alone. Business of old just might be walking into it's grave.

Corporate should focus more on better supporting their customers. Not just through Internet, or WML, but also through personalized products. I think that in the future a customer might be able to not only pick their shoe color/style and size, but also the show width, the arch height, the lace style, the comfort level of the sole, and style of the tread. And have that specific shoe delivered to them the next day.

Many of you don't like the ending. Because it doesn't explain in detail this or that. You're probably the same sort of people that wouldn't like a magic trick, because you're more fascinated with the mechanics and not the performance of the trick. That explains this movie. It leave a lot to intrepretation. It lets the educated audience fill in the blanks. But I think this movie was intense! I thought that Reloaded had good enough action. But this movie out does it on all levels. The fights, and tension is at no level before in a movie. This one left me stressed and wondering WTF will Zion do to save itself? Neo wasn't the hero that people expected him to be. Neo can control machines from outside the Matrix because he has an understanding beyond the programming and can see the machines from outside the Matrix. The only way it could have been explained was if Neo was disected. Any way, he was "The One" and that's all the explanation to power that we get. Just like Superman was from Kryptonite, and that gave him all his wonderful powers... Simple. My only problem is that if he does have this level of understanding, why didn't he just find the process that was Agent Smith and kill it? :P I did expect to see Neo run headstrong into the Machine city and blow it up. Killing the Matrix. But this ending makes more sence. The girl, that is the Last Exile, now has Root of the Matrix and will present options to the people trapted in the Matrix. Zion will rebuild. And man and machine will coexist.
