We manage to sustain ourselves using colonies of microorganisms utilising twinkie bars and coke (mostly near mom's fridge). We rely on radiation from our CRT monitors and heat from mom's washing machine to act as a catalyst converting the food bars into into methane gas. Thus instead of having a nice basement, its a desolate wasteland where noone would dare to tread.
There is some speculation about how life evolved inside such places (or should that be devolved).
Actually, I think AOL is the prefered internet provider for actual zombies:

Londoners had to register four votes altogether, a first and second choice for mayor, a vote for a London Assembly candidate and one for an Assembly party. While 2.9% of papers for the mayoral ballot were rejected, the London Assembly paper proved even more difficult.
Over a hundred thousand people, 6.7% of the electorate, failed to correctly fill out the section choosing a constituency member, while 2.53% did not correctly register a London-wide party choice.
Now that was only 2 years ago, but I think all interfaces suffer when dealing with multiple answers or pieces of information. A simple A B or C ballot works on paper really well, but you have to think VERY carefully about how you layout a complex set of questions.
Considering how they posted their own article on newscientisttech (the dyson airblade) which has in the article a link to a demo video showing it hosted on youtube I would say as long as you attribute it correctly (give it a newscientist tag and stuff) then it won't be seen in a really bad light. If it is, they can always get it removed if they decide their ambiguous company policy (some on, some off) does not allow any of their videos to be posted.
The robots can adjust their caterpillar tracks, to ensure they are all pulling in the right direction. "Each robot has a traction sensor inside that detects all the external forces on it," explains Dorigo. A robot uses its sensor to identify any conflicting forces, and then changes direction accordingly.
So, once its carrying your cargo along the path and begins to slide down a slope all the tracks will turn in unison to help carry it down the hill to its doom. They won't think anything is wrong because everyone will be pulling in the same direction.
With USB memory keys now containing more data than a cd or dvd, why not just sell the program on the key itself and stop messing about with systems that might break peoples hardware?
The software could run, detect its host key is plugged in (hell, they could make a custom key with an encrypted read only block if they like your software can try to write to that area, and if it managed it it knows its fake...).
The data can be protected by cryptographic magic and the shareholders are happy.
Whilst this won't stop all forms of hacking, it will certainly stop the normal folks from having a go and ensures that the hardware isn't broken by putting unbalanced pointy edged crap into the dvd drive.
I'm not even considering how you would get this "key" into a computer with cramped usb slots.
The only thing a key that looks like the one described should ever be needed is for a petrol station toilet key.
Genetically modifying creatures by importing features outside their genome is bad. Its like trying to fit a square peg through a round hole (hence the kitten analogy..)
Cross breed the required features in, find the strongest bull you can and mate it with the best cow and get the nicest meat. Tour the world looking for those genetic features you require, but for gawds sake keep within the animal boundaries. If 2 animals can mate and are genetically compatible enough to bring their own offspring into the world then its a damn site safer than trying to mate a cow with a fish or some such madness.
If you are needing a new PSU, you will get the most efficient one you can afford, but nobody is going to spend money on a PSU when the one they have is perfectly good. I'm not handing my geek card in because its all laminated and shiney.
But I don't think people are going to switch out their PSU mid hardware life. Push these improvements to the manufacturers and make the next generation of devices last longer per watt. Make them better when they are both on and off.
Also folks, switch off your keyboard indicator lights to save power.
What I like about that is even though the article is 5 years old, there are brand new tags added to it.
(also, its linked as a related article at the top - saved me even searching for the direct quote)
No wireless. Less space than a nomad. Lame.
What is this sunlight you speak of?

paper ballots can still be spoilt.
Reading this from the bbc:

Use little icons showing different Monet paintings at the head of each page.
I go onto a p2p site and download this advert for the concert but mistakenly get the whole thing?
Will I be arrested and thrown in jail?
Unfortunately that wouldn't work either.
Uneven ground would make their sensors go wrong.
GP Darth had the best solution, and I never thought I would bring myself to say this but,
there aren't enough managers.
Additional to this, it was the same journalist who posted both articles.
Some consistency would be good...

Wait a minute! Supposing two birds carried it together?

Apart from this minor detail i think w00t!

Actually sir, you are mistaken - I believe he is holding a walkie-talkie.
How can an application running in user space install itself in the system startup without some kind of administrator override or query?

yes, offtopic (and wrong)
misread title and went off on one.
ahhhh well.

How can I write first post using a gamepad?
Can we level up the same as on a "regular" pc?

If Sony were supplying it, you wouldn't know it was there for months and months then suddenly out of nowhere, your pocket will ignite.
