Sasha, I have read most of the replies to my clarification (the slash header didn't make it very clear) and upon reflection have changed my mind; as you point out there does appear to be verious conflicts with the GPL.
I wish you the best of luck with your actions and hope you are successful in cleaning up these violations.
There is an open source chess client called JIN licensed under the GPL. This is an executable and front end chess client.
This has been extended by iChessU to support a closed source DLL which adds new functionality (notably video streaming between players).
The source code to the Expanded client is available and providing you have the closed source binary DLL, you can run the newly compiled program.
Isn't this like me releasing a GPL program which is linked to the nvidia or ATI blobs?
Hell, isn't it similar if I write a GPL application which uses the Windows API?
I personally feel as though this is an overreaction, the ichessu site does not hide the fact its based on JIN and offers sources, or am I wrong and this is infact a genuine GPL violation?
I know I've spent too much time because whilst reading the article (another sign - I'm not actually meant to do that) I noticed something in a quote:
"Somebody has decided when you turn 70 you lose a lot of your mind. I find this is ridiculous."
This lady is obviously intelligent, she spelt rediculous correctly...
People should have to pass a test to get on the internet, it should consist of lots of to/too there/their/they're type questions and only if passed you get access (I would have years of my life back because I would fail it)
I wonder if it can be retroactively applied though and if it was, would slashdot have managed 1 million user accounts?
Having said all that, the guy who rejected her should get reprimanded for his actions, if a person is competent enough to go into a store and is prepared to go through the motions of ordering they should be supplied the product. Its not like she was an anonymous web packet arriving with credit card information and an order.
No he wouldn't if the DNS was working properly, asking Earthlink to resolve that name into an address should ALWAYS return an error if that DNS record does not exist in its database.
Returning a valid result breaks lots of things and it is NOT the DNS servers job to try to discern potential use.
I noticed this after bananastewguy created an account to respond to an article a couple of days ago. I wonder if any parts of slash are limited to short formatted uids.
Looking at the list, it does look like someone made a script to create accounts, but there is no indication it was mr Peterson who did it, and actually more likely that NiceRoundNumber was the guy who did it (since it seems he was aiming for it).
Good idea, but I am a firefox man myself. I have greasemonkey installed and will most likely setup a script to double scale most images.

its just taken me 4 minutes to accumulate ~1000 points, there are people who have accumulated 190000 points.
Thats playing the google game solidly for around 12 hours (less if they are good).
Congrats to those people!
As for myself, I found the image sizes too small, but I suppose we are basing the keywords on first impressions and are expected to come from the image search.
I found myself squinting to see what it was meant to be and wasting time, even if it was just 2x larger (scaled would do, no real need for more data) I would spend time there, its actually quite fun especially since you are aiming to get more than your random competitor.

Actually, I would imagine the problems with inserting a whole layer of filtering to the section article selection would be problematic. I am also sure that if you wanted to have a try yourself at implimenting the code within slash they would gladly accept and consider any carefully thought out patches you would like to submit.
I don't care where the articles come from and tbh I don't care if slash pays him all I know if Roland is some kind of 24/7 internet roving geek who just has a REALLY good knack at digging up interesting things.
Actually, if you read the documentation for the VIA Padlock hardware encryption/decryption engine, you would realise that they talk about realtime encryption/decryption, its not a software operation, its a set of on-die commands.
After the Instant Off switch is hit, a USB key with a 2000-bit passkey and a manually entered password are needed to access the computer. Williams said that even if someone managed to grab the USB key, they would still have to "torture or bribe me" to get the password.
In the UK, the RIP act allows you to be thrown in jail for 3 years for not supplying the encryption keys, in America I can quite easily picture this guy wearing his leather hat and some fetching orange clothing.
After all, his box does look like the computers the criminal ring leaders use in most movies.
Thanks for posting the cleaned up version, now I can read it and now it makes for a very interesting breakdown. The original version as just a mishmash and I couldnt see anything, so to answer your final remark no I wasn't. As for ripping apart thats technically what you were doing, ripping the entire template apart.
The table and layout they are using makes the right hand side menu completely overlap the actual table and content (on my system at least - std firefox 1.5 on xp).
The Field of View of the camera can cause your symptoms. I can play most FPS games, but my head almost explodes whenever the drugged about to explode effects come into play. Most notably, in original Unreal tournament when you fall off a spaceship or into the pressure chamber the camera does some crazy shit and makes me want to puke.
Anyway, the HL2 camera might be outside your comfortable range. You could try bringing up the console and changing this:
fov [angle] - Specifies the character's Field of View (fov), i.e. the total angle which can be viewed at once. Default is 75, higher values create more of a "fish-eyed" view, lower angles create a zoomed view.
default_fov [angle] - Determines the default Field of View in HL2. Default is 75 (cheat).

Nahhhhhh, its got all the hallmarks of a google project ran with AOL mentality ;)
Yes it is - its passed by mutual exchange of bodily fluids.
I know that.
It was me that spelt it wrong to try to make the point.
Obviously I fail it on multiple layers.

They won't waste time and resources to create a folly, this principle is a worthwhile venture (if it can be pulled off).
Once you get one tether you can send runners down it with additional strands.
It would be strengthened and grow like a pearl from an initial seed.
The problem is getting that seed line up there.

Only terrorists would run their own DNS server.
