Of course Apple wont approve it, as it would be "duplicating core functionality".
Apple still somehow think that their product is *always* better than the competition, even when the competition is better.
This is why, for example, there is no touchscreen keyboard innovation on iOS. Apple still think that their onscreen keyboard is the peak of touchscreen keyboard design that cannot ever be improved due to its complete and utter perfection. So while better third party keyboards are allowed on the app store, you cannot make any of them the default keyboard, which renders them all useless. Want real innovation? Go to Android.
What a load of horseshit.
Apple truly is the new Microsoft.
When will we finally get to see anti-trust litigation against Apple? It should have happened a long time ago.
Can't find that in my copies of the Constitution. Just that Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof. Black was very much anti-Catholic and disrespectfully invoked Jefferson for his ruling.
Applied to the religious, telling them that they're ignorant of evolution,...
Dawkins was not talking about religious people in general, he was talking about fundies and extremists. This negates the point of the entire second paragraph.
What Nokia should have done is not hire an ex microsoft executive as CEO who is obviously still very much in love with Microsoft.
The fact that he cannot see that Windows Phone is a doomed platform is a huge problem. Nokia is not going to save Windows Phone, and Windows Phone is not going to save Nokia.
What Nokia *should* have done is created a very good Android phone, with the quality and ease of use that Nokia is famed for. They have a real winner with PureView image sensors ( when used as designed, i.e. 8MP output images ), and they also know how to build quality hardware.
All the pieces to save Nokia were there, the opportunities to save Nokia were there. But they blew it.
Apple has so many tens of billions of dollars in cash lying about that they actually don't know what to do with it all. Apple make ~40% profit on a product that provides ~2/3 of their* revenue. Most companies can only dream of that situation.
So why do they need to push so hard for the lowest possible component price when they are making so much money?
Greed.
*Yes, I actually used the correct spelling. Deal with it.
""Easily run Windows 7" is not a feature, it is a bug. Windows is as good of an operating system as a pile of donkey shit on the bottom of the ocean. If you want to run Windows, you don't need Apple hardware, you simply need to kill yourself. And if you want to run Linux, then you are a rockstar who doesn't need to pay for Apple hardware to have a good computer experience. For the rest of people, they pay the cost to run the best consumer-oriented OS."
Do you really think anybody is going to take what you say seriously when you spout utter bullshit like that quoted above?
Thats some pretty cringe-inducing hyperbole there son. Now stop making a complete fool of yourself and go outside and play with the other kids.
But its *not* impressive. Its totally *meh*. It looks so similar to a 4S that it barely deserves the '5' monkier. Its more like an iPhone4Sv2.
The camera is almost exactly the same as the 4S. Its got a sapphire lens cover now. Thats it. The rest are software improvements the other phones are getting in IOS6.
We all were expecting better than what we got.
Not impressed with the 5. Im more impressed with the S3.
I'd like to buy one outright and go w/ a no-contract plan. Anyone know how that works?
Yes Apple User I can help you here, it works well and is pretty easy.
When they are available, you go to the store and tell the salesperson that you would like to buy an iPhone 5. The salesperson says 'ok' and grabs one and then tells you what the price is for an iPhone 5 with no contract. You then use your payment method of choice and pay the correct amount of money. Once the transaction is completed, the salesperson hands you your new iPhone 5. You then walk out of the store.
Congratulations, if you have made it this far, you have done what we in the industry call a "purchase". You have now "bought" an iPhone 5 and in most cases you now "own" it.
Please reply if you have trouble understanding these instructions, and Ill do my best to explain how this "purchasing" process works.
If you do not know it yet, that famous " I Have A Dream " speech by Martin Luther King is not permitted to be aired anywhere, unless you can obtain agreement from the copyright owners
Just to be clear on one point.
That this historically important speech can be effectively banned (except for fair use) is disturbing. That it is effectively banned is almost entirely due to his highly dysfunctional family.
Talking about historical clip - we must thank NASA for not filing any copyright claim over (the late) Neil Armstrong's landing on the moon - or none of us could get to enjoy the "This is one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind " moment.
Back to Mr. King's famous speech -
Whether Mr. King's family is "highly dysfunctional" or not, it should have no effect on the airing of the historical clip, if not for the copyright laws
Right now, as it is, they - the "highly dysfunctional family" can keep acting out their "highly dysfunctional" behavior for a whooping 75 years after Mr. King's death because, according to the way the copyright laws are written, they have the whole right over that damn thing
Can you go over to that counter to your right and hand in your geek card please. And watch your step on the way out the door, there is a bit of a drop.
Which makes your "ANYTHING APP" completely useless to anybody else. And in doing so you become the enemy of Apple by being one of the hated jailbreakers.
As per the subject, this just adds to the reasons for using OpenGL
Good idea. Ill start using OpenGL on all my games from now on.
Oh wait....
Taiwan != China
Try telling that to the Chinese, and see how far you get.
Why do you assume it is a bad thing to hate Apple?
Is it wrong for me to genuinely hate Stalin or Al Assad or any other crackpot dictator out there?
Thought not.
So please tell me, how is Apple any less worthy of hatred?
Of course Apple wont approve it, as it would be "duplicating core functionality".

Which is why America has been allowed to be quite badly infected with religion. America is a Christian Nation in all but name.
Its in their courtrooms, right on the wall behind the judge, an unmissable proclamation of belief in that particular God.
Its even in their money. Just look at most American coins and notes, you will see the same thing.
Its in their politics, no American President will get elected if he is not Christian. Its a "serious" question asked and hotly debated in the media.
Its in their public schools, even in the Science classroom, ignorantly shoved down your throat as "Intelligent Design" aka !Science
Bah!
Freedom(tm) my ass.
Its too disturbing to be funny, and too pathetic to be sad.

Not a fair comparison. AMD design their CPU's in-house. Qualcomm licence theirs from ARM.
Anything that ends in a question mark.......can be answered with a "no"
Can anything that ends in a question mark be answered no?

If you want pain go and use Windows.
Yeah im using Win7 and the pain is unbearable. Im constantly having to....umm...well, ill think of it later im sure.
Oh yeah and then it is a right pain in the arse having to constantly put up with ...umm....well actually, nothing yet.
hmm having to think hard here...oh yeah, It runs so poorly on all of my ....actually, no it runs fast.
umm....Out of the box after a fresh install i have to always...actually do nothing, it just...umm...works.
and then theres all the obscure configuration of......errr.....well, nothing, it just works...again.
Sorry OP im having a hard time here, what was your point again?
Slashdot editors?
Sorry, your autocomplete must have put the wrong word there.
There is no compelling physical evidence that Slashdot Editors exist or have ever existed.
Here at slashdot, we expect to see dupes, typos, troll summaries, poor grammar, incorrect numbers, slashvertisements etc etc in the article summaries.

GOD I hate this fucking site
You called?
Oh yes, one would think that most geeks would be quite happy to watch shills fuck, as long as they are pretty enough.
Please close the door after you hand in your geek card.
If a technology company cant even spell leak ( leek ) or moisture ( moist ) then I have absolutely no faith in anything that they do.
If they let simple things like that slide, then who knows what else they have missed.
No thanks.

WTF, you spend 100 GBP at the pub in a *weekend*.
Dude, god help your liver...
Is money even a minor consideration when one can afford to go to Cambridge?
If Apple genuinely wanted mass market adoption of MacOS, they could easily do it, and it would become a serious contender for Windows.
All they have to do is release an affordable yet powerful computer, which is easy to do, but the margins are poor.
But they never will. It goes against their high end image. The words Apple and Poor are never allowed to belong in the same sentence.
Alls the pity.
Obligatory frist poast!
Which makes your "ANYTHING APP" completely useless to anybody else. And in doing so you become the enemy of Apple by being one of the hated jailbreakers.
Your point being?
If Apple gets their way, which they are succeeding at with the current smartphone thermonuclear war, there would be no 'something else'.
In effect, we would all be screwed.
Seriously, could you imagine a world where Apple are the only computing device makers in the world? *shudder*
