Too complicated (for most people). Either you can trust a link, or you can't. If you can't, then adding certificates or whatever is an ugly kludge because you're expecting people to understand too much.
A better solution, in my opinion, would be if Google (and other companies who support OpenID) had a tab in their Gmail site somewhere for websites you've signed up to, and to connect to those sites from your Gmail account. If a website was compromised, Google could immediately pull access to the site for everyone immediately. Yes, you have to trust Google for this to work, but...well, you trust them anyway if you've a gmail account, and it wouldn't be just Google offering this service.

  2. Re:But why? on Amazon To Launch 'Amazon Appstore For Android' · · Score: 2

In some countries it's impossible as they're not on the market yet. Also, Google takes a cut - Amazon could take a smaller cut. And, as has been pointed out, Amazon can market apps. A lot of developers are currently complaining that best-selling apps appear high up the lists and sell even more, whereas newer stuff is way down the list and only get seen by really bored people with a lot of time on their hands.

It's StackOverflow I've used. But it's a stupid system. Because, as I said, you go to log onto site A, and it takes you to site B and says `site A wants you to log in` and you're supposed to enter site B's credentials. But I don't want to have to type in site B's credentials, because that's my Gmail account, and it could be a fake site if site A isn't to be trusted/gets hacked etc. So you have to create a fake account on site B for site A. I'd rather just create an account on site A and be done with it.

They're already outselling ios. There's nothing to fix in the GC - you can write stuff to avoid random glitches if you do obvious stuff like stop allocating/freeing memory on then fly. I'm I'm not sure what your problem is with C/C++ on Android - it's already there and it works (should you need it).

Linux viewers are fine. You can view PDFs with them. I don't see the problem. I also don't get what's going on with all the security problems. Surely most people who use PDF viewers use them because they've got a PDF file from somewhere they want to view. Furthermore, the PDF file has a mixture of text and images. There's no need for a viewer of those sorts of files to need javascript support or anything else which can introduce security problems, is there? They just need a 'surface' of some sort to render text and graphics into. There's a problem providing this functionality? Really?

There aren't really many Android tablets out yet, and the main reason for that is that Google haven't yet finished Android 3.0 which is believed to be the one which will handle large displays nicely, and let them access the market. 3.0 might be out soon, but that might be after 2.4, which is due out in the next few months. (If I were Google I'd have not bothered releasing 2.3 last month, and instead held on for 2.4, and I'd only have done that if 3.0 was really some way off. Then again, perhaps there IS no 2.4 and it'll go straight from 2.3 to 3.0).

Once 3.0 is out, I'm confident that the Android tablet scene will really kick off, and prices will drop massively. The Galaxy Tab has already been dropped to US$499 so we're getting there.

If you can't investigate without depriving someone of a server for months, then the investigation shouldn't be allowed, in my opinion, otherwise people will do just that - punish under the guise of an investigation. Re screen sizes etc: Put your design into XML files and have Android load the relevant one. Made your design flexible and it handles most of it for you. In the same way that you don't design your websites specifically to handle 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768 etc etc.
