  1. TOTAL CD BOYCOTT STARTING NOW on Two US States Restrict Used CD Sales · · Score: 1

Its time for a total boycott against the RIAA. Stop buying CD's. Any type, any place, new or used. Don't do anything illegal. Just don't buy any more music or CD's. Let them sit and stew in their own juices and ruminate on how they've totally ruined their industry. I for one don't give a rat's ass about any of the new (so-called) music that's coming out these days. Between my wife and I we own around 800+ CD's. But we haven't bought a single one in the last few years. We don't feel like subsidizing the industry that's busy destroying our right to choose what we want, how we want to listen to it, where we want to listen to it, and on what devices we choose to use. We are completely fed up and disgusted with the whole thing. Let it die. What do we care? Something new and better will rise up from the ashes to take its place and all those asshole lawyers and record execs can just sue each other if they want to.

It is completely within the right of the consumer to buy or NOT BUY anything he or she wants. You DON'T have to have a new music CD. It will not sustain you, nor provide you shelter (unless you tie together a whole lot of them, I guess..) and you will not die if you do not purchase one today. On the other hand, if enough people decide NOT to buy CD's anymore, the RIAA along with their fuckhead lawyers and fat-cat greedy bastard record execs will. They will have to get up off their big fat asses and do some REAL WORK for a change. No more svengalis.

    Free the artists.

Support direct sales and downloads from bands and artists.

    Shun DRM.

Feed the poor. You'll have lots of leftover money, why not do something useful with it? Why make the RIAA lawyers and record execs fatter and richer? There are people who need it far more than they do.

Its time for a complete and total boycott against the RIAA and their shadowy record-company masters.

Stop supporting tyranny and censorship, Stop buying CD's.

No, sorry, you misunderstand-- America USED to be about freedom, democracy, freedom of speech, civil rights, rights of ownership and authorship, and all that.

America is under NEW MANAGEMENT now, the BUSH ADMONISTRATION and the REPUGNICAN'TS.

In the new order, big greedy corporate assholes rule everything, wealthy fat-cat bastards roll away with the loot, the White house is (wire)tap-dancing all over the constitution and turning us into a technocratic police-state, the politicians are passing laws to strip away our privacies and what liberties we have left, the lobbyists are busy fencing everything that isn't nailed-down, and somebody left the back gate open so we're being overrun with aliens.

SO now we have the Dems... woo hoo! They're gonna... ... sit on their collective (jack)asses. What a joke. Elected to office with the strongest TRUE mandates in the last fifty years and they fiddle and fuss and in the end do hardly anything at all. Kinda like a wet firecracker-- light it up, wait with heavy anticipation, and... whizzle--phsssst! That's about it.

So Obama comes along, supposed ot be a real uniter... where have we heard that before? And surprise, surprise, already begins with the heavy-handed Republican tactics. Anybody we don't like we sweep out of the way, off camera, and away from the microphones.

How do you like the NEW freedom? Kinda like that OLD freedom we used to have.

What does it matter if our leaders are blue or red as long as they play the game?

And so it goes. The rich get richer, the poor get poorer, and the middle class keep on picking up the tab.

    BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH

    The end.

  7. Fuck the RIAA-- Pay with DRM Money on RIAA Claims Ownership of All Artist Royalties For Internet Radio · · Score: 1

DRM Money permits consumers to control how the money is spent, ie. planting trees in Brazil GOOD, buying Ferraris and nasty lawyers BAD. Consumers can then set the various usage parameters on the money and then use it to pay for DRM media materials. Recipients will be able to transfer it one time to their bank. Whereafter it may not be transferred to another bank unless additional DRM media materials are rendered to the consumer. Also DRM Money can have a sunset provision, so that the money must be used before a certain date. After the date passes, the DRM Money will cease to have value and may not be used in any further exchanges.

DRM Money protects consumers in the same manner that DRM Media protects artists, distributors, copyright holders and their BASTARD ASSHOLE LAWYERS.

DRM Money can also be used to bribe ^H^H^H^H^H er, I mean, influence ^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H, uh, I mean, contribute to local, state, and federal electoral campaigns. Again, various parameters embedded in the DRM Money can be set to determine how the money can be spent. Roads and Schools GOOD, Tanks, Nukes, and multi-hundred-million-dollar bridges in nowhere Alaska BAD. And a very special parameter can be set so that the money will vanish, taking along one additional DRM Money of the same (or possibly greater) value if the politician breaks his or her campaign promises.

DRM Money can be used to pay for goods and services at most fine retailers where Child Labor goods are sold. Made in USA GOOD, Made in subhuman slave-labor conditions in Malaysia BAD.

See, in this way, DRM Money can actually go a very long way to setting some things straight. There will of course be some very rich and greedy bastards who will initially be against it. Along with a number of politicians who will be confused over whose pockets they should stick their hands in. But I think after a short orientation and acclimation period, the majority of citizens will see the benefits and DRM Money will become universally accepted.

Its been often said "If you want something done, vote with your wallet", now DRM Money permits the consumer to do exactly that.

Anytime an employer tries to stick that type of language in front of me, I either cross it out, re-write the contract, or walk out the door.

What I don't get are pussies who go ahead and sign it.

Don't you have any backbone?? Where are your balls???

(Apologies to folks who actually don't have balls)

Working is a TWO-WAY street. The company needs YOU a lot more than you need the company. But they've brainwashed you (us) into thinking its the other way around. If a company can't hire talent (people who can do things the company can then sell)-- where does that leave the company?

Sure you think, "They'll just find somebody else". And yes, you're probably right-- someone SPINELESS, without BALLS no doubt.

But if everybody with talent just said "NO". I GUARANTEE there would be panic on the 57th floor of every FUCKWAD INC company, everywhere. If you (we) ever really WISED UP and realized that we are FAR STRONGER as a collective than they are as a BAD-ASS MONOPOLY-- there would be a huge reckoning fixin to happen and a new deal to negotiate.

Companies say things like "Well, that's our policy"

FUCK THAT. Policies are words on paper. They're not LAWS. They're not morally GOOD or WRONG. They're just a memo that some pin-headed HR manager cranked out on a Tuesday afternoon in between blowing her boss under the table (or maybe it was his boss) and sucking up. They parade them around like Moses himself brought them down off the mountain-- but they only have POWER if you ALLOW THEM to have power.

YOU (and I) can have policies too. You can deliver them like they're made out of stone too if you want. Try it sometimes, its kind of fun.

Of course, its all about negotiation and who wants what more-- brinksmanship. Whoever blinks first tends to win. You say "I'll do this and that but not these other things". The company says "Its our policy that employees will ya ya ya". You say "Its not MY policy" and tell 'em how many ways they can fold it and where they can stuff it... with FEELING.

Working, no matter how menially, is a CONTRACT between you and your employer. Even working at McDonalds you have collective power if you only choose to use it. If enough people said "We're tired of working for pitiful wages and doing all your lacky work for nothing", McDonalds would have no choice but to work to find other labor-- and if it wasn't available-- they would have to capitulate.

Think about it another way-- next time you go in for a job interview-- hand them a list of "POLICIES"... they'll probably spill their coffee when they get to the one "Everything they've ever invented, dreamed up or thought about, past, present or future, whether you were in the premises or otherwise, now belongs TO YOU".

What an ARROGANT, EGOCENTRIC, TOTAL ASSHOLE thing to demand. They won't like it anymore than you like it. THEY won't sign it, and neither should you.

There are REASONABLE demands that you can choose to agree to (if you want)-- non-disclosure, non-competition-- both for a LIMITED period of time, and in LIMITED contexts-- maybe agreeing not to go work for a competitor withing a REASONABLE period of time. But you can demand stuff too-- like a GOOD WORKING ENVIRONMENT, Access to all of the TOOLS and MATERIALS you need to do your job. A guarantee that some PRICK MANAGER won't try to jump down your shit while you're trying to get stuff done. Solid REQUIREMENTS and REASONABLE DEADLINES. A good vacations and mental days.

They want shit-- you want shit. You look over their terms and say "That's okay, that's not". They'll look over yours and say the same thing. When you're done, if there's a deal on the table you can both live with, then t

Songs can be called anything at all in the lists of P2P materials available-- ie. you could download "Little Bo Peep" and everybody knows (wink, wink) that its really Madonna's "Like a Virgin". The only way anybody could actually know is to either (A) Actually download the song and listen to it, or (B) look at the file's hash and compare it to a list of (one or more) known copies (hashes) of that song. The first is very time and bandwidth consuming. The second is not so much. But if lots of copies of music started popping up with lots of hashes of same, then it would be lots more time-consuming to compare hashes and that avenue would become more painful.

And YES, tweak the volume a little, or alter the contrast-- its all numbers and if you make a little tweak here and there you'll never know it when you watch it but the media won't hash the same. Or even just add bytes here and there as filler, in areas that won't make any sonic/visual difference at all-- like a digital watermark. It just works the idea of identification in reverse. A little like reverse steganography except you aren't actually trying to embed anything in particular, rather just muddy it up a bit to make common detection methods (ie. hashing) harder.

My understanding is that is a federal crime no matter HOW the CHILD PORN got on the RIAA's computers or whether the CHILD PORN on the RIAA's hard disks is now erased. I firmly believe that CHILD PORN is wrong and the RIAA has no business engaging in CHILD PORN for any purpose whatsoever.
