That looks really cool. I have always looked those SF magazines, but as per anything else printed here, barring newspapers, always very expensive, for what you get. Looks like a great idea.
Does songbird do this, or are they planning on doing it?
Never used iTunes except for finding the odd podcast, but those are nifty features, rather than having to make a manual playlist with multiple track copies to weight it how you want, a Party Shuffle non iTunes player would be handy.
Ok, seeing I have never heard of this happening, must be that US banks have worse/more lax security or checks then.
Speaking of cheques though, they used to be really common for paying for things, and no-one worried about this issue there, at all, so sounds rather paranoid?
Or, hopefully, Sony makes a half-arsed product, someone else learns from their mistakes, makes a better product at a cheaper price and Sony loses heaps (again).
Everybody happy.:)

Yeah, I can't buy MacGyver in my country it says. A tragedy. Must be people making millions showing MacGyver in prime time here, I suppose.
Palm M500 works for me - it was a suggestion by another Slashdot user, actually. Likely to be very cheap on ebay (and probably even more so in the USA) - it is where I got mine. $A100 let alone US, could be 50 bucks there perhaps? Greyscale, so battery can last for weeks without a charge. Will take 64MB cards, good for dozens of books - if you are looking for something to carry around hundreds thousands of books, you would want something else though.
Didn't know this. You mean the publisher of the magazines stopped doing electronic versions?

Branded? Interesting. If newspapers did this, that might be one reason to actually subscribe to one.
pbooks? Sounds a bit old fashioned, do people still do that?
Does Wallyworld sell on the internet outside the USA?
Yeah, or here where 256k and a 500MB download limit per month is broadband. Not going to get many DVDs that way.
Yeah, but Fairfax got rid of a whole bunch of writers, etc., recently. So, unfortunately they will be getting worse, too.

For local ebay purchases, almost everyone uses bank accounts here, what is so scary about doing it in the USA? Ebay is not set up the same there?
That is for sure, if there are no mentions of download quotas anywhere.
Where's Mario? :)
Australia, too. Bizarre. Going to end up being tied in knots with 49 countries blocking every second page.
Downloaded plucker the other day, when the straight download wasn't working.

This one they have on their site is about $300, so more than that, you would assume, perhaps?

Yeah, be nice to know. If they can actually get them made, 10% cheaper than Sony sounds like a good starting point.
Selling an ebook reader that won't take a text file would seem to = really dumb, wouldn't it, Sony?
These Jinke guys have something interesting looking here though, if it is the same thing but much more useful!
Yeah, that album is a prime example of one decent song and plenty of filler.
Aliens abducted that lot, but hated it so much they paid the Groom Lake guys a fortune to take them back.
as long as the RIAA evil necromancers don't resurrect Bruce Lee to fight Chuck that is!

Both Kimba and Gigantor were on tv in Australia in the 70s.
