Funny that, I tend to keep myself abreast of the world's situation on any given day. Sources such as CNN, BBC, Digg, NPR, My Local NBC/FOX Affiliate, Slashdot, PBS,... and a multitude of others. Books like Project Censored and others have giving me a critical eye for factual information so I tend to take in alot more sources then most. And I don't seem to recall the war ever being discussed as a cause for our current economic issues. In fact if you paid attention to shows like The Colbert Report and The Daily Show you would be vastly more informed then you apparently are now.
From Wikipedia: "In 2008, a global economic crisis was suggested by several important indicators of economic downturn worldwide. These included high oil prices, which led to both high food prices (due to a dependence of food production on petroleum, as well as using food crop products (ethanol, biodiesel) as an alternative to petroleum) and global inflation; a substantial credit crisis leading to the bankruptcy of large and well established investment banks as well as commercial banks in various nations around the world; increased unemployment; and the possibility of a global recession."
Looks like you better get in there and edit it bro!
No. Most of these weapons will likely never get used.
We're potentially entering a depression the likes of which we have only seen once before... Seems the key to getting over the hump in that one was the military-industrial complex.
No when faced with massive economic collapse the US would never use China as a means of ramping up military hardware production. By say... dangerously feigning interest in a war (or the potential for one) just to justify increased defense spending... Seems like a likely scenario and a razor thin line to try and walk. Especially with all the Unknown Unknowns out there.
Anyway , i don't know much about Obama , except that the press here (in Belgium ) likes him , so that means there must be something wrong with him.
Also, the media here hates Mccain , so he can't be all bad.
Such a glorious and insightful way of gauging a potential world leaders acumen. As an American I truly hope you are a leader among your peers.
I still have a feeling that the indie crowd can step up to the plate and pick up where Bladurs Gate left off... 2d by the way side and gimmicks for miles... I've always held faith that independent developers or kids making mods would end up fulfilling this ginormous gaping hole... It started with the PS1 and N64... 2d bad 3d good. Well I disagree, just as I disagree with nearly any independent game I find on XLA. They seem to cater to a crowd already well served by emulators, they just add the fancy graphics and extra buttons to press. But they never seem to bring the greatness in all but a few genres. And I'm not trying to say 2d is the only way to make a game, but what I am saying is that in the shift to go from 2d to 3d people lost something, something that truly made games worth raving about to people 10-15-20 years later... its found here and again, but never truly captured as it once was in it's pre-3d focus era.
You know, I'm not going to take off points because a user is posting a good idea and using it themselves rather than a worse idea.
I just had to hop on here as an Xbox user from the first gen consoles. I love my 360, it doesn't read any optical discs other than DVD movies, but it made one hell of a media extender with Windows Media Connect 2.0 on Windows XP professional... Then I took a raw copy of XP slipstreamed some updates and Windows Media Player 11, did a reinstall (hey it had been 13 months)... Now I can't see anything from my 360's other than the one Vista PC on my network (it should be noted that by slipstreaming WMP11 I upgraded certain core files that prevented me from using WMC2.0). And not only that,.avi videos that used to play flawlessly under WMC 2.0 now stutter if they are playable at all. It's rather amazing how, atleast for me, Microsoft totally crapped out one of the greatest features of the Xbox by requiring Windows Media Player for media sharing. On another note, one I haven't tested extensively, it does seem my newest media sharing config has little if any problems with Windows Media files. Odd that...
I see what you're saying, but I think I can understand the Army's motivation in talking of such things and it's their whole fixation on finding the "unknowns", they don't want a "game changer" of a technology or strategy unleashed upon them totally unawares. I believe Rumsfeld was lampooned for his attempt to explain it in a press conference. Regardless it is talked about in higher circles than late night tv watchers and makes sense, to immediately assume this as a threat to democracy is a little ridiculous.
Of course, this means a company like McDonalds will now be forced to register "mcdonalds.[every possible alphanumeric string]" -- this ought to be interesting.
Yeah that's a nice thought, but don't kid yourself they will simply bend the law to enforce their trademarks. So when Farm McDonald tries to setup his page on mcondald.whatthefuckever he'll get a nice cease and desist order. And even if he's proven right I'm sure it'll play out like the **AA letters and most people will assume it's easier to submit to another's will.
Yeah, just as some of us still log into EverQuest from time to time.
The key thing to remember about a Star Wars MMO is a large chunk of the market cares not for anything SW related. I would assume something like a Dune MMO would garner far more interest from fans and the unacquainted alike.
Maybe current play mechanics can't do a SW game justice... or maybe... just maybe... it's the fact it's a shallow and convoluted universe that's been raped by it's creator an anyone else with enough time to pen a novel to be sold at the local supermarket... Maybe...
Microsoft is staffed by people that do, among other things, throw chairs at people, describe open source as "cancer", and want to "$#%^&*@ kill Google". I'd say the poster isn't exaggerating that much.
Well one could say that having 'passionate' people is an asset even if they be a tad on the impulsive side. One could also say choosing the terms 'cancer and '"$#%^&*@' to be justified when they are a perceived threat to your business and you wish to instill that fact within the company by using such exaggerated language.
Now will someone kindly explain to me wtf a Mahalo is? I mean if it's going to survive the economic global meltdown crisis of the apocalypse 2008, you'd think a guy that spends most of his time online would of heard of it....
This will cause huge latency issues and cost beaucoup bandwidth.
A soft touch with this would yield far better results depending on your intent. I would imagine an ISP that is sick and tired of certain traffics could utilize a system like this to start taking a closer look. Catch a few token users and then you have a excuse to throttle/monitor/block at will. I mean think of the children! What worries me is that with so many computers doing the bidding of people other than their owners, who knows what kind of traffic is being exchanged. Seems like an easy way for law enforcement to take a closer look at an individual... I've come across very questionable images via Google from rather inane, yet obscure, search queries. You could be one Russian rickroll away from the authorities and those around you having some nasty suspicions in their head.
Raids are parties of 6-40 people divided into 2-8 groups of up to 5 players. The terms raid and raiding primarily and traditionally refer to PVE raid-specific instances and zones. If you're the party leader, you can convert your group into a raid group by accessing your "Social" Panel, selecting 'Raid' and choosing "Convert Group to Raid." From then on, anyone you invite will join your raid group (up to a maximum of 40).

I remember the radio shack bins outside when I was a kid full of things. I grabbed a couple and lost them over the years...
Few weeks ago a buddy asked if I knew what "this" was... It was a CueCat...
Now it hangs proudly ready to be soldered on my cork board next to the bills.
It was about as successful as the Que Cat.
You might be a bit confused as there was never any indication the e-Reader line lost money.
Your local FOX, CBS, ABC, NCB and whatever UPN became.. Will all have local webpages, often times with news via video and perhaps more content.
For the larger your going to be best served by going directly to their webpage and look for Live, Streaming, and/or Video.
Other than that try the RSS feed for new videos at Hulu.com, a lot of news these days.

And idiot HR people will want someone having 10 years of" in depth experience" in it.
That's why I still keep my Push Technology For Dummies book on the shelf! Someday I'm going to cash in on that hot offline browsing action!
O please, tell me another fairy tale about Outlook's superior stability.
When I hit the DEL key during startup, it launches Outlook.

That sounds like some kind of 'quantum' leap...

They need to have the chips hardened for radiation. I'm not sure what the process entails
I think we went over this not to long ago with one of the Mars craft, or we were it was in the thread about the dangers of outsourcing DoD hardware? (or was that digg..) Regardless, it's generally just tech a few years older that's proven itself without major flaws... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radiation_hardening#Radiation-hardening_techniques http://history.nasa.gov/computers/Part1.html And of course if your in the market for such kit... www.honeywell.com/radhard/

No, the Blue Screen is the "Instant Off" feature.
I wonder what the difference in power consumption is when a Windows goes blue screen...
But keeping 11 systems update can does he have a WSUS sever to keep the windows update bandwidth down.
