    the heaters started this year about 3 weeks before DST, but they're off now, go figure.

    Perhaps they do go off... but then again perhaps instead of duct taping a method of energy conservation onto society we start drilling into our youngsters the importance of small steps they can take to reduce their energy consumption on a day to day basis? Teach people to think about the costs of their associated actions.

    Some concepts never or rarely get outdated. Such as Electro static precautions, what the motherboard is. What a bus is... etc, etc. Also you never know when your going to run across an MCA card!

    In all seriousness though, I happened to pick up an older edition of this book at the book store for like 7 bucks. It was current to the Pentium Pro, which was pretty good at the time. But regardless it had information there that was timeless and I'm really glad I had a chance to read and learn from it. So I wouldn't say repair books are a bad idea.

    These phones are not on the google networks, and not low risk items like Google Earth. In many cases phones are not toys and cosumers expect them to be safe and secure.

    And that my friend is why I have the cheapest prepaid phone available, your attitude! I simply don't care to be like so many people I see tethered to an electronic device that makes them unaware of their surroundings and appear rude and narcissistic in public! I don't know you! I don't want to talk to you! And I certainly don't want to hear that you need to stop by the gas station to pick up a gallon of milk because you forgot it at Wal-Mart! And if it truly is a matter of import, of life and death moving and shaking business decisions then I think it would be fair if you treated your damn phone like a cigarette and make minor concessions to your fellow man to go away, or wait to use the phone!

    You know, they are still out there. Actual web pages with links to albums and on occasion a straight up .rar download. But it's just been fantastic I was able to find some Dance Hall Crashers and Mustard Plug albums I simply couldn't find anywhere else. In fact they are sites that look a lot like... this... It's like a breath of fresh air, sometimes I worry about the world at large when I look at the top torrents on any given site.

    two things come to mind when thinking of the screen as the input, either the screen will remain in roughly the same position and hands will get tired... move it to your looking down and im assuming increased neck strain? im sure a happy medium can be found. but i also wonder how the screen would provide an analogue for a highly sensitive mouse. i got mine sky high so my hand moves as little as possible... just some thoughts!

    I'm going to have to agree with you... I remember when I went down to finally buy a copy of Windows. My copy of 2000 was burnt for me at a repair shop in Beaverton, Ore.. The days before WGA were great... And that's what I call customer service! Either way XP Home was a big chunk of the money I had budgeted for upgradery, and lo and behold it didn't support dynamic disks, something I had nearly forgotten about. I really would of appreciated a little warning before losing all my data. So needless to say I don't buy Microsoft products anymore. A fucking warning, a note on the box, a real fucking manual. Anything to justify that price. I could give two shits about holographic stickers and CD labels.

    That being said I believe the article is regarding the cost of the hardware to support the OS. More memory for XP, even more for Vista, etc..

    These are the guys who still use 10 year old computers because those are hardened and tested to military standards.

    I tried to verify that claim via Google and the best thing I could find was the exact opposite of that statement:

    It's just a marketing page for sure... But where exactly do you suppose they use 10 year old tech other than in custom built kit for physical systems.

    Well yeah, if you think about it logically. But no one likes to see a bloated system directory... Reflects poorly, even if subconsciously, on the Operating System.
