Except for the fact that in order to use this for longer then 10 days, you need to have a payed account. Not that I condone botting (I personally find it irritating as hell) but I don't for a second buy the "lost revenue" figures. You need to be a paying customer to use this. As far as I'm concerned, there is no difference between J Random Shaman farming motes for 10 hours straight and J Random Botter botting for 10 hours. They're both paying.

The population density/size of the country argument is bullshit, plain and simple. We've already covered the whole country with a network or roads and highways, and made it accessible to damn near everyone.
The fact that we can't do this with internet connectivity is absurd, plain and simple.

Unfortunatley, it does seem to be hosted on the OpenDarwin servers, so I wonder what the long term plans are for the maintainers of the project. I hope it can continue to exist, as I for one would miss the nice ports style installation and management on OS X.

I had some surgery as a result of which I was unable to sit down for a while (yeah yeah I can hear the peanut gallery already). In order to manage this, i simply propped my keyboards up on some boxed, tilted my monitors up, and got on with life.

Honestly, it wasn't so bad. At the end of the day, sure my feet and legs hurt a bit more, but after a few weeks even that did not occur. And i did not feel at all as metnally tired as I would from simply sitting down.

So maybe programming while standing isn't such a a bad idea. That said, I now work as an instructor. Most of the lecture time i spend on my feet and at the end of the day I find that, while my feet and legs might hurt, mentally I am not nearly so tired or weary as I otherwise would be.

In short, what I am trying to say is that I think standing while working is a good idea. If nothing else, it's a nice change of pace for your average programmer/network jockey.

Give it a shot, you might be suprised.

  24. Thats because water vapor is a greenhouse gas. on Cleaner Air Adds To Global Warming · · Score: 4, Informative

    No, really, it is.

Each gas that comprises the atmosphere has the capability to act as a greenhouse gas, and each one blocks different wavelengths of infared radiation. Some of then trap it when the sunlight passes through the atmosphere, some of them capture it when the radiation bounces off the earths surface back into the atmosphere.

C02, Methane, and *gasp* water vapor all contribute to heat retention in the atmosphere. It's basic Geography 101 shit that everyone learns.

However, since water vapor is, you know, an integral part of the atmosphere and several cycles on earth, we really can't do much about that. Better to worry about all the other gasses we up dump into the atmosphere that we can control.
