My little town (less than 500) just had one heck of a backlash when we went to municipal (read: mandatory, billed with your water) garbage collection. If half of our citizens felt it was their constitutional right to pile garbage on the back lawn, I can only imagine how we'd do with muni internet.
If you're the biggest customer, you would have the added benefit of being able to task sats not only to cover what you want, but also to *not* cover areas you'd just as soon commercial services not have access to.
I mean, no one said it's for sale, but if you buy all the little companies that are running distant second to Google, and put them together, don't you get one big company that's running second as well?
I mean, if I want the Ferrari, and I've got the dough, I don't get six or seven Chevys and consider myself the coolest kid on the block.
Fascinating to me that media companies like DirecTV and Netflix bought ad space. Netflix, I suppose, must be something of a thorn in the side of moviemakers (no reason to ever BUY a DVD), but DirecTV?
It's hard to condemn someone and still profit from their popularity.

The last thing we need is a bunch of RF Weapon-armed super-secret flights that can blend in with the newly-allowed "cargo flights"...I mean, can anyone find anything in DoD documents ever even suggesting UAVs would be useful for CARGO????
For the same $1200, you can get corrective eye surgery so you can see something close to half the resolution offered....

No wait, then it'll sit in a landfill.... I know, I'll BURN it!

Not to poke fun, but if I understand it correctly, we'd all have a little fun prØning the bushes, and drinking prØn juice.
Well, I was born to middle-class parents in the suburbs of...oh. Thought you meant "network-based cretins"....

...this seems like the same argument that was against television vs. books, and everyone knows TV is better than reading.
Refresh! I said REFRESH, DAMMIT! What? Oh....oh dear.
If you don't have to yell to hear over it, how do you know it's working? ...or is it just me and my Sparc?
