I am not virologist or a neuroscientist or immunologist, or even a medical professional.

No need to mention that, t was obvious from the rest of your post. Certain viruses are able to attack stem cells, some of them cause miscarriages, some just damage the cell and cause severe defects. Google is your friend, anti-vaxxers are not your friend.

Does anyone doubt why this happened in an election year? Obama loosened the rules to qualify for disability. It made the unemployment rate look better, now he's using those who are living on the benefit to buy votes for the Democrats. Meanwhile, Social Security is going bankrupt.

On a related note, it looks like the /. editors are caving in to the temptation to post political clickbait articles. It's going to be a long summer.

    Close, but you over-generalized.

I didn't see anything in the study that indicates walking or public transportation has anything to do with it

But they do mention that access to healthcare is important (Who knew?). If you've ever lived in a rural location you would know that the doctors and hospitals are (at best) second-rate. Think bottom of the class from Caribbean med schools.

They also use Tampa, Florida as an example of someplace with a big disparity. No kidding; Tampa is flooded with retirees who have already lived a long time and have access to excellent healthcare. Any wonder why they die at an older age?

My impression after a couple of visits to the Bay Area and talking to people from there is that San Francisco seriously lacks diversity. Yea, you'll see a variety of skin colors, and LGBT lifestyles are acceptable, etc.; that's not diversity.

Diversity means people have differing backgrounds and opinions, and openly discuss their different views with tolerance for the other person's position. This article illustrates the lack of diverse thought in San Francisco; someone voiced a minority opinion and was bludgeoned into conforming.
