by backwards compatibility, i meant newer games on older systems, not older games on newer systems. And I know that your going to say, "but you can't play new games on an old console." I realize that, but the amount of time a console is considered to be top of the line is a lot longer than that of a computer. After all, if I had purchased a PS2 when it first came out, I could play any game that was released for the PS2 today. Computers, on the other hand, well, they're outdated before you open the box.
This is probably why consoles do so well. All the consoles are the same, they have only minor upgrades (some extra memory here, a new controller there), and you don't need to ever upgrade its core components. Perhaps the computer game industry should focus more backwards compatability. Then again, maybe i'll just buy a PS2.

Of course it is. Sure, we are the _largest_ deptor country in the world, sure we are spending billions of deficite dollars on the military; but isn't rebuilding an exact replica of Mt. Rushmore more important. After all, terrorists would never attack a major city, or infect our water supply, so there is no need to put some money into those defenses. We don't have people in our cities that can't make a living wage. As such a perfect country, we obviously have only to protect what really counts; a few statues and a mountain shaped like some dead peoples heads.

They produced a video in which they shot up the school for one of their classe, and the teacher never thought twice about it. The problem is not games. Its society, and therefore parents as well.

I simply dont see the connection between violent games and violent behaviors. I went to this violence awareness seminar, and one of the speakers claimed that violent games teach people that its okay to kill and that it warps their minds. The same argument could be said that taking martial arts makes kids violent, and teaches them that its okay to beat the crap out of people. I can attest that neither games nor martial arts can make anyone violent. In fact, few things help eliminate my need to inflict violence than playing a good round of quake, doom, or GTA. The kids of columbine (as well as kids around the country) are often violent because they are abused by parents or their peers, because they are outcasts. Take it from me, I was arrested four years ago (a few months after columbine) because I was seen as a very dangerous and violent person. Let me assure you that it had nothing to do with violent FPS (i didnt play them back then), but instead with my interaction with others. I am sure as fellow geeks, you were all picked on at some point (some more than others). Etheir way, restricting these games wont stop kids from buying the games, they will simply turn to warez and hurt the gaming industry that way. In the digital age, cencorship is pointless.
actually that is what i did. I just built a ne computer, but i had a tight budget (1k for the whole deal), so i had to make sacrifices. Most people only need a gf4 right now anywho, except serious gamers. Trust me, i want a 9700 Pro, but its not in the cards. Basically, yeah, some of us actually buy cards from the previous generation.
