  1. Beef up your management skills... on Lowering the Odds of Being Outsourced · · Score: 0

The problem with this is as follows: 1. Getting a labotomy interfears with your IT job. 2. You get to "glad hand" with the "people" you can't stand. 3. You always agree with the last thing you hear, which is counter to independent thinking IT demands. 4. Can you really develop a production schedule without facts? Wouldn't it hurt you deep inside? Kinda like being Locutus of Borg? 5. You become just like a banana - born green, live yellow and die rotten. I look forward to the day when every worker is paid the same for the same type and quality of work across the face of the Earth. Only then will management fly to the Moon and Mars to offer rocks our jobs at less wages.

It's amazing how many self-important geeks (aka scientists, engineers, etc...) just don't "get" the business world. You have a job. You do work and submit work to your boss. You get paid. The boss gets to do whatever he wants with the work you did for him. Years ago I wrote reports on weapon system performance for my boss. He didn't like my conclusions so he rewrote them. I simply took my name off the reports. I left a little while later. Sounds like James Hansen needs to work for the Sierra Club. So... whatever happened the prediction in 1979 of global cooling? The snow stayed on the ground all summer in Buffalo, NY. Heck, even Spock went out on a limb in his "In Search of" TV show about global cooling.

When his wife was told of Irving's death she said, " Damn supid auto-drive feature. It's just like programming a VCR! Every time the car goes in for service the memory gets reset!" A spokesperson for Honda, Inc. refused to comment other than, "We had to define a default auto-drive return point in the software. So the car attempts to go back to its orginal port of entry."
