  1. the cutting edge on Where Are The Edges Of Today's Technology World? · · Score: 1

Biotech, Biotech, Biotech. Out of all the fantastic knowledge we have, the human body and its related systems are the least understood. Could you even imagine the kinds of computers we could make if we could duplicate the human brain? Its astonishing that in the 21st century there is so much technology for killing the human body and far less technology for upgrading it...

Since there will be an abundance of addresses, does this mean Inet providers will give their customers real IP addresses again and stop charging crazy prices for a static IP????

  4. Its the SHADERS stupid! on Half-Life 2, ATI, NVIDIA, and a Sack of Cash · · Score: 2, Interesting

If you really read all the articles and understand the subject material you will realize that the problem is that nvidia's pixel shader 2.0 implementation SUCKS. To compensate for this nvidia has been releasing what I would call "cheat" drivers optimized for certain games to make them run faster by lowering the quality. Even The Carmack has said nvidia pixel shader 2.0 has severe speed probs....

  5. This is silly. on Cubism For CG And Movies · · Score: 1, Interesting

Split screen, a precursor to this was done in many films of the '70's. Thank god they stopped doing this. Mike Figgis tried again in 2000 with Timecode. http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0220100/ Why would you want to do this? Its just harder on the old eyes to comprehend what you are watching. A good director can line up a shot to show all the things (the author) is trying to represent without spending a lot of money for some fancy "money shot". Some similar shooting was done with rules of attraction http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0292644/ and look what a dud that was. A good director can make a good movie on a shoestring budget. The last thing bloated hollywood needs is another money sink.... -kraemer

I cant believe how negative you dorks are being about all this... Is it really so bad that he's spending all his money to boost the aerospace industry? What are Ben and Jen doing with all their money to help mankind? -Dont forget he is not patenting this stuff either!!!!

  7. This will fix itself on Linux vs. Windows: Choice vs. Usability · · Score: 0

Why even debate this? Nobody cares because it doesnt HURT enough. People will pay MS. Companies will pay MS. When it REALLY hurts the pocketbook, then people will all be on the same page. But then once the real battle begins MS will probably turn around and give the OS away for free....
