Microsoft plans to spend about 1 billion dollars (120 billion Yen) funding Japan in its entirety, says Bill Gates, Wednesday.
Gates' plans on purchasing the country at the end of fiscal 2004, but he's not sure what to do with it. Industry pundits predict that Japan will go the way of WebTV and many other companies/countries purchased by Microsoft.
"I like Japan", says Gates, "they really are good at science". Later, Gates was seen snickering.
Some with families were angry that a post-watershed show had been automatically recorded and could be accessed by children.
For crying out loud, those people are just looking for something to complain about (which I'm sure you/. folks will understand;-)). It's not like the show is filled with porn, it looks like the show is like any other brain-dead sitcom. I can just imagine the 10 year old boys waking early on Saturday morning and finding this illicit show on their Tivo. As they watched the tittilating comedy with jokes about urinal cakes, their eyebrows twitched nervously, and they repeatedly looked over their shoulder to see if Mom or Dad were walking in.
If owning the Microsoft source code is illegal, then only criminals will have the Microsoft source code.
In this case, the criminals are all the world governments, and all the hackers and spies that can get a hold of the source code. So now the U.S. government will be able to crack into Chinese government computers, and the Chinese will be able to crack into U.S. government computers, and hackers will be able to crack into everyone's computers. Meanwhile, little ol' you and me will just have to leave our MS-Windows boxes wide open for all the bad people to crack.
There are tons of "races" like that on the Internet. Google gets to decide the winners. Yes, it is just silly fun, but the point is that the masses accept google as the definitive source.
What you say is true (as far as I know, this topic is stretching my expertise), but it would be really difficult to "upload" warez from your site if you didn't have a permanent location on a real network. I suppose if you lived in a house in which you could just connect to your neighbor 24x7, then that would work (until your neighbor turned you off;-)).
Here is something funny. Do a search for: '+cancer +"LOS broadband" +funny' at google.com. Note: do not click on the resulting link if your boss is looking over your shoulder;-).
The biggest argument I hear against taxing internet goods is that it would hurt the internet companies. That same argument can be used against anything that is taxed. Why don't we just get rid of sales tax altogether? Or maybe keep sales tax and get rid of income tax (or vice versa). The real problem is that we are being taxed when we get the money and when we spend the money. Unless and until we fix that, it just isn't fair to not tax internet companies.
And besides, I'm already paying taxes on a lot of my internet commerce.
I'd love to have a "recumbent" stationary bike that could fit partially under my computer desk. It'd be great to be able to pedal while I browsed the web. I would finally get exercise while playing around on the computer (wouldn't have to jog as much;-)).
Are the game bikes recumbent? It doesn't seem like it. I think it would be easier to integrate them into the rest of your gaming environment if they were.
I went to a basic training graduation of a friend of mine about a year ago, and I did consider laughing at the young (they look sooo young) men that were going to protect our country. They looked so young, fragile and inexperienced. What makes the difference in actual battle, however, is the training they received, and the technology in their hands. In most cases, those two things will overcome any determined enemy.
No fair! I made a joke about my cup size not being 'D', when the 'D' programming language was being discussed, and I got moderated down! And that was on a Saturday night when the moderator's should have been a little tipsy;-).
I suspect that a public outcry is in the works...

I can only imagine people hording old palms, and riots ensuing. Remember when Coke II came out? Some dude stored a 1000 or so cases of coke in his garage, it was a media frenzy, and then finally, "Coca Cola Classic" was born.
I realize this is different because it is a legal switch rather than a "taste" switch. But that may give the public all the more reason to protest the change. Will people really give a darn? I wonder.
I'd like to see the Gimp compared to everything
else in the list. I am by no means a professional
graphic designer, but I love the Gimp. I use it to touch up photo's, etc. Does it even compare to Photoshop where professionals are concerned?
And especially in terms of this article, would productivity improve if the Gimp was used on, say, a Linux box?
Typical AOL user pic: here.
Apologies to those that if seen this pic 8,300 times (and apologies to those that are seeing this pic for the first time;-)).

This makes your point the best: porn
- php - 1.1 million hits
- perl - 56,200 hits
- lua - 478 hits
- python - 27,800
- ruby - 54,400 hits
- tcl - 4,680 hits
And the winner is: PHP by a landslide!--naked
