    Those stupid 10,000 blocks are also one of the causes of the proliferation of area codes. I have already had to purchase new letterhead because of new area codes.

    The FCC system now assigns phone companies blocks of 10,000 numbers; the phone companies do not pay for them. If the phone companies had to bid for them, maybe they would have a persuasive argument.

    So I guess now you can work at a 7-11 and make more money within 2 years than you can with a 4 year degree in computer science? Plus the payback of the student loans. Even if you make more in the long run the payback will take another 5-10 years. I am not sure that we will have any programming work in US by then...go into a trade while you are young and you still can.

    Sometimes when I accidentally get fooled by the sender name and subject line, and accidentally open a spam email, the email says I opted in. At least there is a real business that can be sued in this Utah case. I don't think that the listed PO Box in Florida is really the address of the spammer, do you?

    If I were a big company and I wanted to not have to pay the little inventors for their ideas I would come up with a scheme:

    1) Abuse patent system until software patents stop innovation in the industry.
    2) When patent system is revised to no longer protect software, take every little inventor's idea and produce it without compensating the inventor.
