According to this story, story1 - the construction is suspect. If anything goes wrong in this kind of project- the ramifications are immense.
This is an environmental disaster in the making. Maybe 150-200 years later when the dam is all gone, all those villages and that lost ground will reappear.
Max Payne was the first fps game I ever played seriously. Did I enjoy it? A RESOUNDING YES ! I have only played one more fps game to the finish- Serious Sam 2 and it was just a mindless orgy of monsters raining down upon you.
After playing Serious Sam, I am very biased towards the human form. Monsters are actually very easy to integrate. Why are monsters monsters? Because they are evil. So? They have to be destroyed. It takes much more thought and finesse to use humans as enemies and weave a compelling story around it. Max Payne actually has a very nice story to it. The cut off scenes are interesting and make for good interludes.
I have 7 new fps games that I want to play over the next few months and the benchmark I will use is Max Payne. I also played part of Medal of Honor but lost interest and did not complete the game. Right now I am playing Half-life but it is because I appreciate its mod- Counter-Strike so much. Games like Max Payne actually highlight how good a fps game can be, unlike your views that it is of low standard.
I am surely going to play the next Max Payne if a get a new laptop with a good video card.
you know.. for a moment I think you were masquerading as Junis from Afghanistan. Avoid that 6 pack of beer or a pizza this weekend and get a 56k modem for heaven's sake. prospective Eartlink customer at 14.4k ?!? Blasphemous!
I really have to disagree with your view that Seinfeld is a "horrid show". Have you seen the show yourself or are you making fun of it just for the heck of it?
Seinfeld was not meant to be anything in the first place. It managed to entertain so well that other comedies could not even come close to it. Comedy would'nt exist if everybody considered themselves know all like you. Would George be entertaining were he not potrayed as a bungling no good man? Probably not. Your comments just show how brainy you *think* you are.
You state The Matrix as "brainless fun". This would mean that good movies come along only once in maybe 7-8 years. I think not. Granted that the immersive intellectual jigsaw presented in the first 40 minutes could have been better utilized later in the movie, it does quite a good job.
I could have replied to your comments as an AC but it would been injustice to your really lopsided views.
IBM has been making use of Java in its Websphere products and if IBM gets hold of Sun, then it can probably give Microsoft something to think about.
HP would not even bother about Sun right now because it does not want to bite off more than it can chew. Investors would not at all take kindly to the acquistion of Sun by HP. HP right now is trying to fend off the dog that is Dell. HP does have about 13.2 billion $ in hand (Biz Journals) but it will probably not want to mess with it right now.
Removing Sun from the competition would help the server market by bringing some consolidation. What will IBM do with the Sparc chips? It is not likely to dump it for a while but after 2-3 years it may just move to Itanium and its own PowerPc chips.
Sun has already brought in x86 systems in the lower end. Both Sun and IBM are adopting AMD's Opteron for lower and mid level systems.
We have also got to remember the FTC. If IBM does bid for Sun then expect them to go through a tough scrutiny so as to avoid a monopoly status in the high end server industry.
People know that Sun is able to keep customers only by chanting the reliability and customer satisfaction song. Its Ultra Sparc's are falling behind in performance and it is probably only with the Sparc V's that it can gain any semblance of competitiveness. And when are the Sparc V's going to come out? 2005 at the earliest.( News)
Would Dell bid for Sun? Dell certainly can because it does have quite a bit of cash sitting around 9.1 billion $ as of Dec 2002 (Motley Fool and Yahoo ).
What is Sun's market capitalisation? As of March 19, it was about 10.73 billion $.
Dell does not have a foothold in the high end server market because it does not spend much of R & D as opposed to HP, IBM and Sun. Acquistion of Sun could be a easy way to compete with HP and IBM. Dell's entry could help reduce the prices of high end servers like Dell has done to the desktop market.
If this story is indeed true then it would be the most talked about merger. Competition for customers paying money for big tin has only gotten worse after the tech meltdown.
Personally I feel that the Sun bid is just a rumor like the Universal/Apple deal. If anyone is to believe it, then Sun or whoever is buying them have to publicly state that they are looking into this deal. Maybe the coming weeks will tell us more.
My father got a 286 in 1990 and had a custom accounting software package made then for his office. Cost him some 300 $ then.
The 286 was junked 2 years back but the the software still runs in the office on a pentium 100 and my computer too(as a backup). Other than bringing it upto date for y2k, the code is the same.

Ok..if this becomes a law, then the law enforcement agencies will be compelled to help track the spammer. The person who receives the spam will contact the police, who in turn will ask the ISP(of the spammer) for details.
Now that this law is proposing thousands of dollars in bounties. It is not difficult to envisage spam bounty help centres opening up(true american entrepreneurship;)) who will help track down the identities of the spammers for a cut from the bounty-say 30 %. People would be more than willing to agree to that if they they are assured of results.
Now assuming this will be successful, spammers would have to move their bases offshore. How will we deal with that? I don't know.
The case will certainly be appealed. Because different courts have come to very different conclusions about the law, the issue could go as high as the U.S. Supreme Court, a process that would likely take years.
This issue could continue for years, and if it does, then I expect the administration will intervene, in whose favour? I don't know but expect things to get more hostile between file swappers and the RIAA/MPAA.
they will use bunker busting bombs.. the point is that these bombs are used against man-made structures.. and they are much easier to penetrate than solid ground.
The bomb might have to be a nuclear one. Another question is about the delivery capability. Moon does'nt have oxygen. Therefore this bomb will need to have its own oxygen system.
The place they bomb and the place where the spacecraft is located has to be some distance apart. The dust(?) created from this bomb will linger far longer than earth because of moon's gravity.
