No way will I EVER buy a Real product or support any company that uses Real streaming technology.

Yes, indeed. Their performance has been exemplary. However in the future, finding problems somewhat faster than 20 years after construction might be a good thing.
Hmmm... this might be a good time for then to try to 'enhance' the MP3 standard by adding in DRM as the various **AA's (damn them to Heck!) have been urging for years.
I think I'll sit out on this one thank you very much. I like music and everything, but stereo is more than adequate for me (If I want 6 channel sound, I'll just watch a DVD...)
I honestly don't see what the hell people are complaining about.
From the end-user's perspective there really isn't all that much of a different between the.Net Framework and the Java Runtime Environment. (Note that I said from the user's perspective so don't go flaming me with tech-centric comments, I know what the differences are!!).
The.Net Framework is 22Mb. Sun's JRE clocks in at 15Mb.
The JRE is bundled with most PCs in some form or another, or it's required for alot things normal users do (ie Applets etc). The framework itself may be 22Megs, but that's it. It's not like it's consuming massive amounts of PC resources. Once it's on you don't have to worry about it.
I really don't see what the big deal is with some people being 'scared' to simply install another framework for running applications.
I replied to your post because it had a score of 5, making it show up when everyone read the thread, whereas the original spoiler had a score of 1, meaning most people wouldn't be reading it anyways.
Had you not re-iterated the spoiling I wouldn't have said anything.
Also, just because you put *Spoiler* in your thread title doesn't mean that people will see it before they read your post, which is exactly what I did when I was scanning through the thread.

I guess you didn't watch Farscape then eh? If you like Sci-fi at all, you'll want to check that one out. If you don't, then quit saying that all the Sci-fi shows suck since it's obvious that you won't like them anyways.
Well that's why they send probes out first.. (duh!!):)

You should check it out. Both the mini-series and the actual series (it's still playing on a few sci-fi stations, eg. Space here in Canada).
Farscape was one of the most inventive, colourful and well-produced shows in recent memory.
Speaking as a long-time fan, its main draw-back was that the storyline was often too complex for most people to simply watch a random episode and understand everything (which is why it had troubles finding new fans in the second season). However, if you took the time to actually watched three or four episodes in a row, the story was immensly involving (ie, it drew you in and glued your eyes to the screen week after week).
If you'd like more information about Farscape, be sure to check out the SaveFarscape website. (Yes, believe it or not, hundreds of thousands of fans can actually make a difference to tv-executives...)

Yes, there may infact be legitimate email advertisements. However, for every legit ad recieved, there happen to be at least 99,999,999,999 pieces of worthless, unwanted trash (ie spam!) that go out over the network.
Personally, I don't see that as being a fair trade-off, and as such, I ignore ANY advertisement sent to me inbox, legit or not.
I realize that BOINC won't necessarily be running projects concurrently on one client machine, but the point remains the same. There is not a very significant advantage to having something like this. It's not like Stanford is running out of data for Folding@Home.. (which would be the only reason that you would need to switch projects..)
I've been thinking about something like this all semester in my Distributed Computing class.
What I'd really like to see is a system setup where you have a network of clients, any of whom can dispatch an agent across the system that consumes resources to accomplish some goal.
Obviously there would have to be some sort of non-malicious code signing or sandboxing going on within the system, as well as forcing the agents to consume proportional resources (ie the more time/space/bandwidth you give to the sytem, the more you can consume)... either way it's still a neat idea that I'd be eager to participate in...
It'd be a little more exciting that Folding at anyrate..:)
excellent...
Someone mod this up, I just spit coffee all over my keyboard because of the parent. :)
oh wow.. so the US decides to ban something else coming across the border from Canada...
geez, as a Canadian I almost wish we had a free trade agreement or something....

Why didn't the other members of UnitedLinux simply form a new, 'identical-except-for-litigating-scum' group.
They could call it "UnitedAgainstSCOLinux"... or maybe just the "NoSCOs Club"?
If anyone is able to grab them and start a Torrent, I'd be more than happy to join up..
