Well, speaking as someone else on this side of 'the pond' I really can't understand why Americans fight to keep their complicated, quirky and backward system when metric is JUST SO MUCH FRIKKIN' EASIER!
The metric system is used by the majority of scient communities all over the world people, learn to use it!!
"Express".. as in stripped-down functionality so that once your project gets to the point where you'd making money off it, you upgrade to the full edition and pay them a big pile of cash.
While the X10 cameras might do what the poster (and myself) are looking for, it'll be a *Very* cold day before I support a company that uses/used popup/under by buying their products.
Keep up the good work!! I love Mantis!
I've also just started to use it as an organizer/planner (in addition to development of course).
Can't wait for version 0.19!
Really? Well hey, if you can point me to one that'll work with both WinXP and Win2k you're more than welcome to. (Infact I'd appreciate it!)
However, until then, my network server will remain a Windows 2000 machine, where I can actually access its files without any issues whatsoever from other machines.
I don't consider myself a newbie by any stretch of the imagination, but the majority of the time I still can't make sense out of linux documentation.
I tried every night for two straight weeks (reading the docs, getting some great help from the standard linux forums, reading every samba tutorial I could find etc) to get Samba working on my home network before finally giving up on it (and hence linux altogether).
You can't really complain about newbies not reading the manual when the manual either just plain doesn't contain the information you need, or has wrong or out-of-date information in it.
RBC (ie Royal Bank) invested $50M in SCO simply on the odd chance that they did actually did pull off a court win. Basically they were covering all the bases for their investment funds, which you would expect from any decent financial institution.
I don't know for a fact that RBC uses SCO-Unix, but that is not what the money they paid to SCO was for.
hmmm... You're probably right. Of course now the dilemma will be deciding if this is a good or bad thing...
Microsoft's Monopoly = bad Software Patents = bad Microsoft's Monopoly trashing everyone's software patents = good
tough call!
I guess what it boils down to deciding which is more of a threat to the development and better use of technology (including software). In this case I'd say that software patents are the greater enemy..
Personally, I prefer TeamSpeak to Skype. The interface isn't quite as nice, but for group conversations it works alot better (IMO). Less bandwidth too, which is better if you're using it for VoIP while gaming..
Makes me wonder how the Internet community would treat banner ads today if they were targetted then the way Google does AdSense now. Maybe there would have never been a Punch the Monkey campaign, or banners disguised like Windows dialog boxes, seizure-inducing flashes, or irritating popups.
You sir, have WAAAAYY too much faith in humanity.:)
>>but if they aren't seen as vigorously defending the "right" of the labels to make egregious profits, they could stand to lose a critical revenue stream
Hmmm. I though the iTunes music store was operating a net loss, at least for the current fiscal year?

I believe the problem here is that you're trying to use logic in an argument with a Musician's Lobbyist group...
Yup, it sure looks like Bryan Adams has been disowned by the Canadian Government. ;)
Luckily I don't have any mod points... otherwise I'd be torn between modding this Informative or Funny.. or maybe Redundant? ;)

Hmmm. That's rather unfortunate.
Ordinarily though, I'd be more "not impressed" by the people securing your network that allowed the backdoors in the first place..

Agreed.
Just about spit coffee all over my monitor when I saw it.
Good show!
That's not very nice you know... trying to trigger the world's first Pancake-House slashdotting...

Teachers have to show up to work. MPs don't!
Did anyone else get the urge to play Buzz-word Bingo when they read this??
hahahaha

/me having visions of 30 PETA members locked in a big metal box stuck out in the sun on a tarmack for two days..
yes, I do believe that could work!

aaaaaaah...
Thank you for finally clarifying that!! (it's been bugging me since I read the books!)
For all those modding this redundant, this is what the post was actually supposed to look like...
