If you don't like the country you're living in then get the fuck out. Nobody is forcing you to live in America. I guarantee that you'll find America to be a much better place to live in than pretty much any other country.
The majority of people who buy consoles don't give a crap about picking their own hardware and building an "l337" gaming rig. Most of them don't give a rat's ass about open source non profit emulators either. One of the big draws of having a console is that sometimes people just like to sit down and play a game without having to worry about getting the latest video drivers, or having 3 Gigs of RAM, or a Radeon 9800 just to play a frickin' game. When I turn on my PS2, I don't have to worry about any of that bullsh*t. I guaran-damn-tee that no matter what the latest and greatest hardware you stick in your "l337" gaming rig, it'll be old hat in less than 6 months because something better/faster has come out.
Console games were cool in high school and college, mainly for the multiplayer games. But unfortunately I've grown up now and discovered the joy of PC games...
I didn't realize that you couldn't own a console if you were a "grown up".
I could go down to Wal-Mart, slap $300 down on the counter, get one of those generic PCs (loved by/.'ers everywhere) and stick linux on that!

The Getaway (PS2) is already doing this kind of thing. They got licenses to use brand names for cars (BMW, etc). and there's a billboard type thing in the game that has Samsung, McDonalds, Sanyo, TDX, and Coca Cola plastered all over it.
the reason that we're shelling out big time bucks for these SSL certificates is because the certificates come from a "trusted" source which in turn means that the people using the certificates (i.e. customers, etc.) feel more comfortable accepting said certificate. I personally would feel more comfortable making purchases online if I knew the SSL certificate was from a verified source and not just some certificate that some Joe Schmoe created.
What kind of cost increase are we looking at here? Most of the higher end (higher res) PDAs are fairly expensive to begin with. Now throw in this new "innovation" and you're looking at increasing the price of something that's already pricey.
... and support Open Source and instead of buying one of these stupid contraptions, take 10% of the money you'd have to spend on hydrogen and donate it to the open source project of your choice.

that the /.'ers aren't trying to take credit for slashdotting the entire WWW.
does that mean that it's been /.'ed or that someone has a VERY ugly mug?

Actually, I've got an army of scorpions running on treadmills...
until I get electricity and running water out here in NEW Mexico, broadband is the least of my worries.

do you have to be told? Don't open attachments from people you don't know :)
Good luck getting a service provider here in the states. If you buy it now, you MIGHT be able to use it by 2006...

Does this mean that you don't listen to RealAudio content either?
